The worst bank ever

The worst bank ever. I opened account and they close it the same day. There holding my money that I deposited when I opened the account. There no communication between the banks and customer’s service representative. The representative would say one thing then go to the bank like they said to do and the bank said something else. I would tell everyone do not bank with them and if you have a bank account with Truist I would close there account.

This company is horrible

This company is horrible. They ask for the same document that's already provided. The underwriter is nit picky and all the letters have backup and they are still not satisfied even with my high credit score.

A rating of one is high

A rating of one is high. Shame I couldn’t do lower. I left Regions after 19 years to use my local Truist Bank hoping it would be a nightmare and boy is it. The branch personnel is fine, but the customer service and processes suck. Come on Truist, please do better. But then again, do they care.

switching banks after 8 years

I’ve never had to deal with Truist customer service but now that I have I never will again.

I wanted to personalize my debit card, but the button on mobile wasn’t working. I then report it damaged, thinking that it would give me an option to order a new card and hopefully personalize it. This is not the case.

Maybe an hour and a half later I call customer service. I talk with someone for 2 minutes and the call drops. I call again and find out later this man had no idea what he was talking about. He told me he canceled the replacement card, and that I could personalize my card with him via email. I said cool. He confirms my email address and puts me on hold. He comes back and says he’s ordered me the new card. I asked him if it would ship after I uploaded a picture he said I will have I think 5 days. I said okay. I wait. I never get an email.

An hour later I get on with Truist’s AI chat bot which is actually useless. Get a real person on there and she tells me the personalization had been approved for the new card. Sends me a link to edit the personalization and it wouldn’t let me do it for the old card or the new one. Then we get disconnected. I get back on with a new person and he was obviously annoyed with me. He tells me that if they do not get a response to the email they send a generic card, and that the replacement has already been sent and he can’t cancel it. Bro, it’s been 1 hour.

Just bad service and inconpetence.…

After reading the reviews I find it pointless to waste my time writing a review. It is clear that no one at truist is reading the reviews ,much less correcting the problems. Its a shame we have to deal with their incompetence and rudeness to acess our money.

Truist bank does not have their customers back!!!!!!!

Truist bank can improve buy having people who work for them speak proper English and can be understood. It was very difficult speaking to this woman filling the initial report - who knows what she recorded incorrectly. Also, by advocating for the customers better because someone somehow used my card to make a purchase. I suspect it may've been with purchase at a gas station in Oxford, NC the night before this happened. On 2/5/26 my debit card was used to purchase a TV in Hickory, NC. I was only aware of this charge when Truist Bank contacted me - I believe by text regarding the suspicious charges. The charges went through but to their credit they were able to shut down 2 additional charges to Chipotle and Kickbacks Jacks restaurant. I knew nothing about these charges, and it is very scary that the purchase details were coming to my email address. I was able to contact Best Buy to see if the TV was picked up. I explained to them that this was not me and it they could give any details, but they were unable to do so. Their investigation is still open. However, Truist claimed they did the investigation and found that I was the one that purchased the TV without giving me any details on how they did their investigation and found me responsible when I did not purchase this TV. Truist bank is very disappointing. They did originally refund me the money but took it back by force payment without any explanation on how they came to this decision. They unfortunately couldn't stop the transaction although I was telling them it was not me.

Horrible bank

Horrible bank. They put a 10-day hold on a check I deposited. The funds left the account the check was written on in one day, but the hold remained for the full ten. Their customer service made standard pathetic excuses. This bank plays with the float. They will tie up your money.

I am a Truist customer for years while the bank was know as BB&T. Even this form says I have misspelled "Truist". Anyway I have had accounts with this bank for over 25 years and still have an account active today. I was buying a mobile home for my company and needed a Notary. I went to Truist Bank in Vinton Va. The lady banker said she could certify my signature as the buyer but refused to certify the seller as they did not bank there. I will close my last account with this sorry sorry sorry bank tomorrow.

Truist bank in Sarasota on Tamiami…

Truist bank in Sarasota on Tamiami trail is consistently delivers horrible customer service, incompetent 800-phone support, charges illegal fees for cancelled Clover credit card processor, denies any wrong doing until confronted with facts and documents. It is gotten so bad that this Bank must lose their privileges to serve public in Sarasota and must be closed. They just reached a 240 M dollars court settlement in Georgia for charging illegal fees and defrauding citizens. Clients be aware— this bank cannot be trusted and must be avoided at all costs. From personal insane experience with Truist bank!!!!

Bonus incentive not fully explained

Compelled by an online incentive of $400 bonus after a few months if a customer has a direct deposit that was transferred, I went to a location of Truist Bank in downtown Charleston SC and opened the required checking account for said bonus on June 6, 2025 with their employee Amy Binau. Consequently, I went to the local office of Social Security and made sure my direct deposit was transferred to the Truist checking account the following month. Whilst opening said account the bank employee mentioned the process by which I would receive a debit card for said account. The aspect of the $400 bonus of which I wasn't informed at all was that it involved more than just setting up a Truist checking account that would receive a direct deposit; I was additionally required to make 20 transactions with the aforementioned debit card shortly after opening the account. After time had passed and I kinda expected that I should've received the bonus incentive yet hadn't, I called the Truist employee and found out about the 20 debit card transactions requirement. She offered to make an inquiry and call me back and I offered to shortly fulfill the requirement, having been uninformed. I never heard back from her and when I called Truist Bank back after a while, I learned that she was no longer a bank employee.

If you have other choices for a loan I would choose another bank.

When I bought my car my loan went to Truist bank. At that time I had never heard of this bank. I did not have any luck dealing with customer reps online as the process they have in place is very frustrating. Then when I went in to pay off my loan apparently the teller did not add that months interest to my loan pay off and I kept getting bills. I have never paid off a loan in which I was not given the full payout amount at that time. I ended up having to make another payment for the interest that apparently was not added. Then on my bill they were trying to add two months of full interest to the amount they said I owed. I ended up making a payment and that rep was much more knowledgeable than the bank teller. I would not choose to use this bank for a loan again.

If I could give negative stars I would. This is the worst bank I have ever dealth with. They should be evaluated by the federal reserve and other regaulatory agencies. They literally would not let me close my account. This should be illegal.

Please consider another bank

Please consider another bank! They just charged me a "return payment fee" of $35 when I tried to payoff an auto loan over the phone. I called, the agent and I both confirmed the routing and the checking acct numbers were correct, but they said, even though it is correct, we cannot refund the fee.

I open a new account with Truist and…

I open a new account with Truist and did not receive confirmation that account was opened. 5 days later I tried again and this time I received confirmation that account was opened and I transfer 50 from my current checking account to Truist for the opening deposit. I called customer service and talked with a gentleman and told him what happened and he assured me only 1 account and helped me set up my online banking. The next day when I tried to log on...account locked...call 844 *** ****. Which i did and after another long hold and getting through there phone system to talk to a human...I was told there was issue with my accounts and had to talk to fraud department...talked to them, no help but accounts closed, nothing she could do...go into local branch and they could reopen closed account...which i knew was not possible...but they keep sending emails to me stating hurry up and send you opening deposit by May 5th otherwise your account will be closed. So, I have 2 closed accounts but they are still sending emails so send money...so I call again today...after a long horrible wait on the phone to get human..told same thing accounts closed..i can not help you..let me transfer to new accounts...same story they decided not to do business with me, and they have not received my deposit but it will be return to my bank when they do receive it...as i was talked to them...i get another email...send money to keep your account open....why do you keep sending emails if my account closed..i said take me off your list...she says hold on,..let me see how I can do that...she gets back on the line and says you have to do it, at the bottom of your email...unsubscribe to the email...wow what can you do nothing it appears....horrible and rude customer service people...long phone wait...can not answer any questions....never use this bank if you want a good bank...this one not....
