Obvious price gouging.

Obvious price gouging as prices increased twice in less than 24 hours ($40 total). After being at a stable price for many weeks. Price increases followed immediately after concerns arose online about Seagate drives potentially being sold used but marketed as new.

Excellent experience with UMart

Excellent experience with UMart! Purchased laptops for business and was impressed with their pricing, fast shipping, and fantastic after-sales support. They handled a warranty issue with HP seamlessly. Highly recommend!

Warranty issues

Warranty - Urrrrrgh. Months of delays, I provide them with a copy of their receipt of purchase but they send email after email asking who purchased it and wanting copies of emails of the manufacturer confirmation of warranty, any tactic they can to delay the return process AFTER they received the returned item and printed out their RMAS form confirming the item is under warranty. Avoid if you want a smooth warranty and support process.

20yr Customer Lost, over $50.00 Refund.

End of December, I purchased a $50 SSD, as part of a $1600 build, which was DOA. Took it back to store a day or two later and was told it was a 'warranty repair' that was the manufacturers responsibility. This is direct contravention of the consumer guarantees for purchases within Australia. (Hasan at the Mansfield store, then told me when returning it 'this brand is dodgy, we have so many returns, don't by Gigabyte'.... wtf are you selling it for, if it's dodgy and you KNOW it's faulty...)

Emailed and called multiple times to speak to a Manager or Senior Staff member to try to resolve, and provide feedback regarding my experience, after attempting to do five seperate times with front line staff (after being invited to do so on a Google review), but "conveniently" every single time I rang they were 'in a meeting', including yesterday.

It was only yesterday, that Ann from customer service ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING (only staff member I'd say earns her salary!). She has managed to arrange a refund finally, a MONTH and TEN DAYS after the item was returned for a refund or replacement.

A manager was going to call me today, but they have opted to just have Ann call me instead, and leave a voice mail, 2hrs past the time arranged, to say they're refunding me and consider it closed.

I bought my first ever PC parts from Umart, in 2001.
24 years later, they've proven that their focus is on money, and money only.
Customer service and good business ethics, come last.

0/10.

Won't be back, won't recommend them to a single person ever again.

If this is how you treat a customer after 20 yrs of brand loyalty, I can only imagine what you do to a new customer who has an issue.

(And if any 'manager' sees this, don't bother replying to me again. If you couldn't be BOTHERED any of the five times I reached out to contact you previously, to resolve an issue... you certainly aren't going to get another chance just because you know other people can see a one star review, and it makes you look good to reply, as if you care. I'll keep waiting for that phone call.)

Do some internet research before using Umart.

I bought a monitor (click and collect) and when I opened the box, the monitor had a crack through the screen. I immediately returned the monitor to the store and they verbally advised in their Chermside store that the broken monitor would have to be 'verified' at their Mansfield store and this would take 'a couple of days'.

This was the start of a 3 month debacle whereby nobody in Umart could give me an update, except that 'the issue was with an authorised repairer (?) and normally they get a response within 10-14 business days but it could take up to 28 business days.'

Any request for an update was met with this generic response, even when Umart had left me without the monitor or my money for 45 business days (6th Dec 2024 - 10th Feb 2025).

I finally had enough and decided to take the matter to QCAT. I was reviewing my account with Umart in preparation of a complaint and noticed that they had marked the order as 'Cancelled' in their system and my RA reference had been deleted. I called Umart and they advised (after a 10min hold) that I could pursue a replacement or a refund. They couldn't even be bothered to get in contact with me to let me know they had resolution with their 'authorised repairer'

I chose a refund as I did not want to go through this process ever again in the eventuality that the replacement monitor also had damage or other issues. My trust has been totally eroded with Umart and after 15+ years I will never again buy anything from them due to this experience.

If you choose to use Umart, just be aware that if something goes wrong, Umart will not be there to provide any sort of customer support for the goods that they sell. There are a few companies that are just as cheap but have much better customer service.

Robots Only Welcome.

Umart has lost the plot. Their recent policy to refuse service to those of us who don't have a mobile phone is RIDICULOUS! For years I used this store and my landline phone number was sufficient however now I am blocked from purchasing. I contacted Umart about this and while they were polite they insisted that their policy stands. So I now shop elsewhere.

I wanted to get a refund for accidental purchase

I wanted to get a refund for a graphics card which I accidentally brought and I sent it away to the address given by a team member which responded quick and within about a week (including time to arrive to the address) the credit was already being processed. I then sent an email to double check and was replied within a day saying the time for the refund to be processed. Very good and informative and quick. I’d be glad to shop with these guys again.

8 weeks with no resolution regarding an RMA.

I have followed up numerous times with Umart regarding a blown up PSU. I have requested a refund multiple times for what was clearly a defective product.

All attempts at communication have been ignored or woefully answered.

Great prices, terrible support.

I wish ,I can rate worse than one star

I wish ,I can rate worse than one star. I bought 2 GPUs , ft irst one in October which was returned after 4 days after trying few times ,didn't work. Returned and accepted warranty by Seller.after 5 weeks received a call that they can refund since discontinued the same model. So U ordered another model next day and collected same day, which was again faulty and returned to them. The first one which they said refund is still not processed for refund,I visited today..now I am waiting for two refunds.very disappointed with customer care and manager not showing any initiative at all.

Rude tired gatekeeper phone csr lost a…

Tried calling the Milton store to speak to people there regarding a system I wanted to buy. The lady who answered the immediately seemed tired, annoyed, angry? My request to speak to store staff in Milton who I have built up a rapport with was completely denied. Rude, contradicted the website multiple times. Talked to me about picking up the machine in Melbourne? I'm in Brisbane. This is not the right interaction for people that are happy and excited about purchasing and collecting a fancy new gaming rig. I'm not using Umart again. If it costs me 200 buck to avoid this elsewhere, that's a deal after that nonsense. What a shame.

Wont bother with sales that require an effort

Refused $8000+ build because it would require some stock coordination. Unlike in the past, as a customer you are now made to feel like a number and an inconvenience. Im sure this attitude would translate to after sales support too. Cheap prices arent worth the risk for when you will eventually face some problem. Used to be the #1 recommend in Brisbane. Now its one to avoid.

Terrible customer service and products

A friend bought a motherboard (Gigabyte B550M K) for her son who wants to build his first computer. They purchased various components from different places, some second hand. But the motherboard was purchased to this store, Umart in Croydon.
They contacted me because they could not connect to their network.
I checked the build. Although amateurishly assembled, I repeated all the steps with a professional attention and better cable management for the small case they had.
I immediately found that the network port was faulty.
My friend went back to the store asking for a replacement. She was told by the shop owner, who was near rudeness and absolutely no inter-personal skills that the motherboard was "scratched" and had to be sent back to the manufacturer for repairs, which might not be under warranty!!!
Well, after 40 days waiting, Gigabyte responded to Umart that it is ok to refund as they did not even sent another board!
That was a few days ago.
My friend purchased another motherboard from the same seller, the MSI B550M-A PRO. Her son rebuilt his new computer hoping that he could finally start gaming on his machine... He could not even start it.
They asked me to check it. Today I found out that one memory slot was faulty, sending the 3 beeps when starting the engine!
They asked me if I could come with them to the store as maybe I could push things a bit...
We arrived at the store. We first asked for a product return, but Thommas, the young staff there said that because the box was opened, he could not proceed to a return. I then asked if he could test it, especially the RAM slots.
With friendliness and professionalism, he agreed to proceed and he also discovered that one 1 of the RAM slots was working. The other one is faulty... Thommas went asking for his boss (no clue about the name of this man). The boss came out, not even a look at us, not even a "Hello" or a quick chat. He immediatly tried to find any mistakes we might have made, claiming there was thermal paste on the CPU socket that should not be there. I immediately told him to stop right there because when only 1 memory module is in the working slot, the computer boots just fine on their test bench. So that thermal paste could not be the culprit. Only with the ram module in the faulty slot, we heard the 3 beeps immediatly. He kept saying he was not happy about that thermal paste... But he returned to his back store hide-out and never came back out, leaving Thommas to deal with the customers waiting and with our problem.
My friend wanted to have an immediate refund and get out of this shop. Thommas who said that unfortunately, because it is a fault, it has to be processed through the manufacturer MSI warranty and be sent away for assessment.
I recommended my friend to purchase a motherboard from Amazon as their return policy is very smooth, which is Amazon strongest service point.
My friend's motherboard has 3 options:
1. MSI discards the motherboard and agrees to the refund
2. MSI ships a brand new replacement motherobard and my friend can then immediately claim a return with a box that is not open.
3. MSI fixes the RAM slot issue and send this same motherboard back, in which case, there is no refund possible for my friend.
Can you imagine having purchased 2 motherboards from the same seller and both coming with faults out of the box???
We felt totally let down by the owner. We would think keeping customers happy is the main thing for any business. He has definitely lost us.
Thank you there was Thommas. Thumbs up for this young man.

Friendly, but painfully slow

The customer service reps are friendly, but the actual help just isn't there. Been waiting weeks on a warranty and they can't even tell me exactly where my item is, they say it's probably with a supplier, or repairer.

Just use Scorptec, much more reliable.
