Creepy behaviour by Virgin media workers coming onto my property without notice
I am not a customer and I have never been approached by Virgin media Ireland re putting cables on my house. This morning a Virgin media workers came into my front garden and stationed himself right at my front window when there was no reason to be there. He was looking in my window and he had a phone in his hand and could have been recording for all I know. When I went to the window he stared me down with the creepiest expression on his face a mixture of disdain and defiance. I recorded him and now have that posted on Facebook. It is not long since they did something similar that time the guy was up a ladder looking straight in my front bedroom window. My gas metre is outside to the right of my window. Never in twenty years has anyone reading the metre looked in my window much less stared defiantly at me. I had a guy replace my gutters he never felt the need to stare in at me. I am finding it impossible to contact someone in Virgin media about this. I derive no benefit from the cables the have attached to my house the very least they could do is be professional and respectful seeing as they have the privilege of coming onto private property
One star is very generous for Virgin
Without a doubt, this company are up there with the worst.1 star is very generous for Virgin. Ordered a SIM card which arrived, but decided not to use their service, so within the 14 day cooling off notice. Trying to cancel, but can’t seem to do that online, and wait times are 40 mins. When I do decide to wait, I get cut off after approx 15 mins. If you are changing mobile phone providers, I’d personally give Virgin a miss. I finally got through and the customer service person was friendly, and hopefully put my cancellation request through, but you really shouldn’t have to go through all this to cancel a service. Trustpilot reviews rates them 1.2 that’s probably a bit generous. Senior management want to get their finger out. Today is the 15th September. Despite having cancelled in the cooling off period, and note to prove, I now have my 1st bill.. Trying to cancel is a major headache even when you have the right to do so. The wait time exceeds 30 mins most times, and the bill you are looking for can’t be found on the app. It appears the cancellation request wasn’t put through, or wasn’t received. Virgin Media are simply useless.
Stay away if you can
Stay away if you can! I have a business broadband with Virgin for years and will be definitely switching ASAP. They put me on contract for which I did not agree. To reach their "customer service" took me 20 minutes on hold. This is the worst experience ever. Oh, yea... They charge you for the call diversions from your land line to your mobile.
If I could give ZERO, I would
If I could give zero, I would. By far the worst customer service I have ever encountered. The mobile app will send you around in circles. It's impossible to speak to anyone on the phone. I was with UPC, then NTL, before they were Virgin and have never experienced this level of ineptitude. I have not been able to get into my portal forever. I need to print out a bill. I'm holding for their customer service now, the waiting time is over one hour. Their online chat is no better, it's operated by bots, forget about talking to a human being. Should you wish to make a complaint, the relevant online form is a dud. They might as well not have a Web site.
Disgraceful customer service
I bought a smart watch for my grandson yesterday and am having issues with the Sim. Virgin Media Ireland's customer support is appalling. Spent most of an hour yesterday waiting to speak to someone, told they'd ring me back, no word yet, im now actually on hold again today, 48 mins now.
Don't willingly use Virgin Media
Don't willingly use Virgin Media. If you have a choice, go for literally any other company.
They are surely a monopoly, can't sort out a simple house move but control so many areas in the country, leaving you no choice.
CS team don't know what they are talking about/have no knowledge. Neither does technical support. They don't actually want to help you.
I do genuinely feel bad for these teams, it's not even their fault because they aren't taught yet, have to deal with angry customers everyday.
Unfortunately, there is literally nothing we can do with a system that's so poorly designed.
Worst customer service experience I've ever had. Love to sell you stuff, not too good at it as you can see through it, but can't sort simple house moves. App is horrible, website is horrible, chatbox doesn't work and phone lines are useless.
Call them out on Twitter/X and they'll dm you, but there won't be a solution because unfortunately, none of them know anything.
I have never called out a company like this, but it's so tiring and so so frustrating. I have sent them a complaint to ask for a deadlock letter so I can contact Ombudsman.
I hope there is some real change about this.
Positive Experience & Contract Renewal
Spoke with Richie regarding renewal. Advised that could renew a month early to lock in discount of package. Handled everything to ensure that no drop in cover and 2GB broadband remained in place. Very positive experience, thanks again.
Virgin Media claims to be a Public Service Broadcaster Misleadingly
Virgin Media claims to be a Public Service Broadcaster. Yet their content choices demonstrate otherwise, often streaming socially harmful material under the guiding principle of “give them what they want” rather than fostering socially uplifting programming. In today’s society, that approach is simply not good enough.
Their presence also poses a threat to the heritage of Irish television, especially if they draw trust and audience share away from RTÉ. While RTÉ is not without its flaws, its leadership will inevitably change over time, and it will continue to serve as a cornerstone of Irish culture. Programmes such as Nationwide, Ear to the Ground, GAA, Prime Time, and Crimecall have all contributed immense social value—something Virgin Media cannot credibly claim.
This review challenges Virgin Media’s claim to public service status, highlighting how such a label risks building false trust to secure public funding and revenue. Ultimately, those funds flow to its foreign parent company, headquartered in Bermuda for tax purposes, rather than being reinvested in Ireland’s cultural or social fabric.
Can it get any worse? AVOID at all costs!
Have been client for many years for internet and TV and mobile.
Horrendous service.
Clearly understaffed, 40 mins wait on the main line, and staff does not seem trained. They cannot fix issues
Mobile - I had better coverage with my french phone number
Internet - Still not the fibre, eir has fibre in the same building.
TV - Subscribed to a package, got a reduction as I've been overpaying for 2 years, and lost service. I was extremely impacted as my work depends on it. Lost service again 2 weeks later.
Service quality has dropped dramatically for the past few years.
Billing - My 183€ fee is debited 3 TIMES in the same month !!!! Then I get a few refunded, but because of Virgin Media I am always in overdraft which impacts my mortgage capacity!!!!!!!
No good side.
They are an absolute disgrace
They are an absolute disgrace. They came to my mother's to install Fiber. The guy came did what he did but an hour later nothing worked. She is 91, depends on her wrist alarm, house alarm, phone, TV and Internet. Yet 3 week later she still has nothing. We called and called to get the same generic answers. Yesterday I was told if I rebooted everything it'll definitely work and guess what, it didnt. I have spent hours and hours of my time waiting on the phone. I was told today it'll be Sunday when they call, that'll be one month. They can't continue to treat people like this especially the older people that depend on wifi for medical emergencies.
I was asked to upgrade my broadband…
I was asked to upgrade my broadband back in May. It took 5 times for them to come out to ‘upgrade’ it and it worked for an hour and have no broadband or TV since. Over two months now and no sign of it to be fixed despite many frustrating phone calls. Appalling service. The whole system is designed for them not to take responsibility as they say they don’t have enough engineers to help with the problems. The app doesn’t work on my phone either. They are selling something they cannot provide. We’ve been two months now without any TV or broadband. Frustrated is an understatement. Do not go anywhere near Virgin media in Ireland. Dreadful, awful service.
Disapointing
Despite the Customer Services people being very nice and I know it's not them, I've been given the total runaround when our services stopped Friday, everything has been down one week now despite being told every day that it would be back by the morning. The sim I got for my mam from them didn't port right despite me following the steps and she has no calls or messages AND the app they got me to download has me stuck on a never ending loop of crap with the 2-factor authentication as it won't send one to my email, basically 3 problems/pains in the neck i've had this week can be traced back to Virgin Media
Terrible service, AI customer service. Avoid
Internet is bust, they suggest you download the app which then directs you to the website which directs you to the app. Their AI chatbot does the same. Absolute con artists
This company has to be the worst I’ve…
This company has to be the worst I’ve ever dealt with. I cancelled during cooling off period, and they said I’d to return a modem but did not follow up by sending me the instruction and are now set to charge me and keep me in contract! No follow up to our phone call,. To make matters worse I cannot access their support or app as I’m just logged out each time, password reset does not work and it’s an absolute rigmarole trying to re register. Do NOT deal with them for anything
Went to Greece (Europe)
Went to Greece (Europe), virgin media mobile Ireland charged €99 on my bill. I have unlimited data plan for €25 monthly ..And they trying to say I was in turkey Asia. Trying to say I must of gone boat trip near turkey etc. tired repeating myself
I signed up for tv & broadband
I signed up for tv & broadband, they sent a technician to my house to get me set up, but somehow the technician wasn't able to get me connected. I've been given the run-around, they have scheduled another technician to come out in another two weeks' time. So over three weeks without use of their service despite being a paying customer. Very unhelpful when you ring up, apparently they cannot get a new appointment at short notice. An over-reliance on contractors and not enough staff. This is really not good enough and incredibly poor customer service. I would not recommend Virgin Media to anyone; AVOID!!!!!!!!!
Unable to install net after 3 months of…
Unable to install net after 3 months of waiting. Clowns
Signed up for tv and broadband
Signed up for tv and broadband, cancelled my current provider only to be told after a month and numerous calls that there was no fibre broadband available to my house so they couldn't provide service and I'm in the middle of cork city!! Then again looking at the reviews I probably had a lucky escape
Atrocious Service all around
Atrocious Service all around. Even for Ireland, this level of incompetence and laziness is unique.
Informed that a "technician" would arrive on a specific day between 12 and 6pm. They never showed up, nor was i informed of any cancellation in advance.
Expect long waiting times before being connected to the outsourced call center for support.
I wish I could give them a lower…
I wish I could give them a lower rating… This is by far the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Their processes are unbelievably frustrating and make no sense. I honestly don’t understand how they’re still getting subscribers
