Excellent Staff
Living in Brighton I have used the Vegetarian Shoes bricks and mortar shop on North Lanes many many times and always found the staff excellent. I have several pairs of shoes from here and being Vegan I'm really pleased to have a place I can get quality Vegan shoes easily. Not cheap but certainly worth it.
Sturdy, quality shoes
Sturdy, quality shoes, absolutely worth the money.
I bought the Global High Leg Boots about 2 years ago and have been wearing them pretty much nonstop from September to June in Scottish weather. They still look brand new.
For years I've looked for animal-free shoes that are not cheaply made or fast-fashion, that don't disintegrate after a season. I have now found them.
First, they were immediately comfortable, and the easy slip-on feature is a real thing! In the first days, they didn't hurt my feet, and I didn't have to break them. They were just were slip-on and go.
They're comfortable, they hold my foot and ankle well, and they do well in all weather. Lightweight for summer hikes, waterproof in the winter (still after 2 years). They don't peel, as faux leather often does, the insole doesn't sag, the seams are strong, and the materials are sturdy. A quick clean and they look brand new. Even better, their 4cm sole makes my tiny ass a great deal taller!
They are my go-to shoes. I love them, I waited a long time to write this review to check if they would hold up in the long term, they do.
Very undersized shoes
I ordered Desert Monkey Boots in my usual size but they were so tight fitting that I couldnt even try them on. The shop assures me that they are a size 10 equivalent and suggests I have wide feet (never had to buy wide shoes before). The real kicker is I have to pay for return delivery even though the shoe's are not as advertised. I recommend looking elsewhere...
Somehow too large and too small all at…
Somehow too large and too small all at once? Airseal boulder boots.
I appreciate the sizing runs large so I thought that would be solved by popping in an insole. Since putting in the insole, the front of my foot (particularly the left food) is now squished right up against the shaft of the boot and the seam allowance of the tongue and the upper. It's extremely uncomfortable and makes my feet feel like they are being squished. If I loosen the laces it doesn't make any difference.
However if I wear them without insoles, my feet are basically swimming in boots that are a bit too big.
Also the seam allowance between the tongue and the upper needs to either be trimmed down or top stitched in a way that makes it point towards the toe. At the moment, it points towards the back of the foot which means when you go to put your foot in the boot, it tries to flip forwards and feels (again) horribly uncomfortable.
I'm really hoping they break in more as I've been wearing them for about a week now and I'm getting tired of having to put plasters on my feet every day.
Also the piece of vegtan with the company stamp on it that is put on the heel of the insole is uncomfortable. There's no real cushioning whatsoever and this makes it worse.
Sorry vegetarian shoes. I love your ethos and I love giving to an independent business but your manufacturing needs some work. If you know your shoe sizes run large, maybe figure out how to correct that? It might make things more comfortable in the first instance.
Too large. Sizing is completely wrong
I buy my shoes from Nike to ebay to flea market and never have any problem. I always choose the same size.
The boots I bought from Vegetarian Shoes were way too large. It was far beyond "difference in style" or "personal preference". I would say it was at least 2 size larger. I strongly believe that there was a serious error in manufacturing process.
I sent the boots back and received a full refund quickly. Nice service, but I can no longer trust the business. The sizing is just completely utterly wrong and I will not buy from them again.
My favourite boots
I probably own far too many air seal boots now but can't resist as they're fab! Far better quality than a more famous brand and they last ages. Yes, they're a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. Sometimes they take a bit of breaking in, but eventually become comfortable and always look great. Vegetarian Shoes are always my 'go to' brand whenever I need new footwear. I bought my first pair in the 90s and they lasted 12 years. You can't get better than that!
Excellent Service
I called on Thursday morning and spoke to Eddy regarding needing a pair of shoes for my son urgently. We established the shoes were in stock and Eddie had these dispatched on Next Day Delivery at no extra charge and the shoes arrived in less than 24 hours after ordering. Great shoes which fit well - fabulous service and will use again for sure.
I got hit by a car and they are still fine & so are my ankles
So, in februari 2022 I got hit by a car. I'm including this, because I wore the purple boots from vegetarian shoes. They got a few scratches now, but that's it. Not disturbing at all. And my ankles, especially the left one, would've been broken if I'd worn other shoes, like sneakers. They take some time to walk-in, but after a few months they fit like they were made for my feet. I love them, they're easy to style, unique, warm during the winter and just amazing. I still wear them with pride and I'm so grateful that they were able to protect my ankles.
A happy customer since 2017.
Vegetarian Shoes is my go-to for vegan footwear for almost 6 years now. The customer service is excellent. The prices are a bit high but so is the quality, so that's acceptable. The delivery is remarkably fast from the UK to ROI, even after Brexit.
I once bought shoes that were bigger than I'd expected but since I only wear them around the house - it's no big deal. I will contact them in future regarding size for my next purchase.
Sorted the issue promptly, heel counter could do with a redesign
Received my veg supremes in the wrong size due to a picking error, thankfully the error was rectified promptly and the return shipping was refunded to me so happy with the customer service. The shoes I'll be honest look nice but were incredibly uncomfortable at first, the heel counter is way too high and digs into your ankles. I replaced the included insoles with some better, thicker ones and that raised my foot up in the shoe to the point that now they are actually comfortable and I wear them basically every day. Definitely get some decent insoles to go with them or you may be disappointed (with the veg supremes at least).
Bought a set of they're work boots
Bought a set of they're work boots, was like walking on solid rock, imitation leather started to peal and look like card board after a few weeks. I generally like to support vegan products, but I had to stop wearing these because the pain in my feet was just to much. I felt completely ripped off, they work even advertised as having a cushioned sole, which was frankly a complete lie.
Great quality
I bought two pairs of their boots five years ago. Have worn them every single day for over two years because those were the only shoes I had at the time. I have walked in them through mud, sand, snow, and endless puddles. They even survived hikes in the marshes while keeping my feet dry! I don't wear them as often now - but they are still my go-to boots for special tasks because of their durability. The sole has a good grip. I don't really care for them, but they aged well, they are only covered in some minor scratches. Vegetan micro (shoe material) is as durable and water-resistant as they claim and it does indeed age well. I feel like those boots will serve me for another 5 years at least.
Great vegan brand
They're very close to the word vegan as they're non sweatshop and use synthetic materials
Amazing comfy shoes
Second time I've bought shoes from this store and I cannot be happier 😍 the shoes are made with care and love and they are very beautiful and comfortable. Both the boots I purchased are winter ones and they are clearly thought for British weather: your feet will be warm and dry throughout the season!
I really recommend this store.
Great and fast customer service
Great and fast customer service. Of course the shipping costs were on me, but the guys from vegetarian boots did everything quickly to help e solving my personal problem with the item that I returned.
Thank you so much.
Paros Sandals
I am just writing a line to say how pleased I am with the Paros ladies sandals I have just ordered.
I wanted to say what a great stylish and practical design. The footbed is lovely and wide and cups the whole foot and toes nicely. I have been diagnosed with fallen arches, and sometimes plantar fasciitis, and so need a supportive contoured footbed, and it's usually difficult to find summer footwear for this condition that is also vegan, and most importantly, stylish. The design is also cool and pretty and a delight to wear. It's great to have a slightly more feminine alternative to the usual 2 strapped "Birkenstock" style.
I may have to order a pair in another colour!
Thanks - a grateful, flat footed vegan lady.

I purchased I pair of saftey boots for work and they are very comfortable, well made and look great. Customer service is also excellent.👍
Poor return policy
Have one of the only vegan female work boot with a steel toe that I could find, it is stiff and uncomfortable and I would not suggest buying anything if you're in the US because they have a bad return policy you'll end up spending more on postage to send it back then you'd get in the return and these shoes are by no means cheap so essentially if you live in the US all shoes are final sale better to just try buying from a different company with better return policies. So sad to see had been so excited to get a pair of vegan work boots I spent so long trying to see all the options turns out I chose the wrong company.
Great boots so far
Recently bought a pair of Veggie Trekkers. They seem well made and sturdy. True to size. They were comfy straight away and no breaking in period required. I've waded through lots of water in them and they have been completely waterproof so far. I've had them a couple of months and they've had a 'reasonable' amount of wear (few miles a day) but no proper hikes so far. No complaints at all. Will update in a few months if any grumbles arise, but at the moment I'd definitely recommend them.
Pricey products, cheap quality
Over seven years I have bought several and different products from this company, mostly because I like the idea of supporting local and independent businesses; some of the items were better than others. My general impression is that they sell shoes and boots made out of very cheap materials and poorly assembled. Once I've had to get a pair of shoes replaced from them after only one week because the inside, had already got ripped. My most recent purchase (last winter) was a pair of very good-looking vintage boots. When they came they instantaneously looked and felt pretty light-weight and cheap, which isn't a good sign for a pair of boots; mind you, boots with a wooden heel that I paid £90. After wearing them only a bunch of times, I've stopped using them after four months because I realised that the sole was of such a poor quality that it was scraping away like butter against a knife. So, I've had to spend an extra £25 to get them fitted with a proper, sturdy sole and on top of that, when it rains the boots become totally useless since they are not water-proof and your feet get completely soaked.
Overall, average-to-low quality products, materials and manufacturing, against the price, which is a shame since the style and look is very appealing.
