Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Absolutely saved my pocket bully phoenix's life after another vet botched her stitches and she ended up needing immediate care such nice helpful and caring staff so much better response and service than the previous vet I'd used marker town so thankful and would definitely recommend these as your 1st call in need of an emergency vet and they charged me around 25% less than their qoute too

Took my beloved cat here after being seriously injured late on an evening and sadly had to be put to sleep. I was seriously distressed and upset about the situation and felt your staff lacked empathy and all they seemed to care about was payment. The rates are abserloutly ridiculous considering how much I paid I still wasn't able to receive my cats ashes as I'd have need to pay more that I couldn't afford. No help for people on low income with only 30 days to pay a huge amount I found the whole situation very distressing at a very difficult time.

When we called Vets Now at 12.30 am the phone was answered immediately, a few details were taken and then we received directions by text. We were seen straight away and our dog was checked and treated in a very thorough, professional and caring manner. We were hugely reassured after our visit and our dog recovered well.

I first went to vets nowlast week with my jack Russell who was attacked by anotherdog: positive thing, the vet seen her right away, negative things: they didn't really do much to help her and just went on about the cost I got the impression that the vet on dutie was only bothered about the money, it cost me £600 even when i had already done 50% of the job for them the vet just put a dressing on her and sent us on are why saying you own vet will do the surgery on her in the morning, will hello I'm paying you £600 to help my dog ( my fur baby) I don't expect to pay the kind of money for a bloody dressing when I could of just done that at home and saved myself £600.
Then I ended back at the emergency vets now with my collie who was attacked by my lurcher ( who is now rehomed for both their safety) my collie was at deaths door and the vet keep saying to me on the phone that she can't do anything why I'm at home this was for around 15 minutes will hello we know this we just wanted advice on how to stop the bleed pouring out of her body as our kitchen floor was covered with her blood, then we got to vets now yes they took her straight through to the back and cleaned the wounds and give her painkillers and took bloods and did a scan and kept her in over night, basically what my vets would do for around £600 vets now it's cost £1800 I would love to know what property they are the Mortgage on but it's one hell off a property to charge that amount specially for people on benefits don't they release some people can't afford them prices it's not fair on them people never mind that the people that use the emergency service own vets also pay them for their services so basically their getting twice the amount its wrong

Wish i could leave zero star review Waiting 4 and half hours for our dog to be given Two injections when we said we were leaving. Left unhappy and with a dog that couldn't move and dehydrated.
Was charged over £300 pound to be left in a room on our own for two and half hours listening to our dog cry in pain. Our dog may now have long term kidney issues due to dehydration.

The vet was patronising and cast judgement on me. I felt words were put in my mouth, I feel they were negligent!

Extortionate prices, my emergency consultation was on the floor in the lobby, just to get that far was £286. Then my service dog was given three injections and told she should improve by Thursday our consultation was on Monday. A bill for £485 only to find out hours later that our dogs condition was fatal and we had to put her asleep with our own vet.
Extortionate prices for the service you receive it's in no way comparable to our own vet's despite your website stating it is.

I called Vets Now, last week, I was put through by my usual vet's practice as it was out of hours.
I called for advice, I explained that my dog had diarrhea and my dog was off his food, whilst this was not unusual for him, I was worried that he also had an engorged tick which may have been on him for some time and were these two things connected, should I be worried about this? Ie might it be a tick-borne infection.
I was told that I must bring him in immediately and was told what the price was, which seemed exorbitant however as it seemed that my dog might be seriously unwell I bought him straight in.
When I arrived the vet was very dismissive and said that it was very unlikely to be a tick-borne infection and suggested that it was more likely he had just eaten something bad.
I called my usual vets the next day who gave me the same advice over the phone, they also said that I should at least have been offered a vet consultation on the phone for £90 by Vets Now.
I don't understand why I was told to come into the vets practice for no reason and why I was led to believe that my dog was likely to be more unwell than it was. Unless I was given this advice just to ensure that I came in to pay the high fee. Why was a not given the right advice or even offered a consultation over the phone? Or even told that the person answering the phone was not able to give advice. Why was I deliberately misled into bringing my dog in when they didn't need to come in. I assumed that I would be able to trust Vets Now, in the same way that I can trust my local vet but that has turned out to be far from it.

It was a Saturday evening when I rang the emergency line. The call handler listened carefully, was calm and reassuring. I was told to attend immediately. When I arrived I was expected. It was a busy night for the practice but my dog was examined and treated without delay. All necessary follow on was explained to me thoroughly and I felt confident about the way forward. Top class. Thank you.
