About Vets Now
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

From the first moment of meeting…Amazing Practice
From the first moment of meeting Debbie, the receptionist I felt at ease she was so helpful . The vet was very kind, and gave me the honest information I needed. On my second visit, the vet on duty, put my mind at rest, and gave us ideas on what to buy for our cat, to support his home life. I would definitely recommend this practice, they go above and beyond

No visit to the emergencies vets is ideal but Debbie on the reception was kind and hilarious, it really put us immediately at ease in a high stress situation. The vet we saw (I’m so sorry I’ve forgot his name!) was lovely aswell! So kind and considerate and gentle with our grumpy cat.
Debbie even gave us road closure advice as we left which helped us get home alot faster!
Lovely team, couldn’t recommend more

Rude and expensive
We were referred to this vets as an emergency service when we ran out of insulin for our dogs', pre-diagnosed diabetes condition. We were told we would have to pay £293 for a consultation, plus costs of any medication supplied. After a 2 hour wait, and complaining to the receptionist, a vet took us into a consulting room and read an email from our own vet that detailed the dogs condition. The vet did not even look at the dog. After refusing to pay the £293 for the 90 second consultation, due to the fact he never even glanced at the dog, we were charged £99 for a healthy pet peace of mind check for the dog and a total of £44 for the insulin. This was double to cost from our own vet.
The Vet was very dismissive of our concerns. Premises were grubby and we will NEVER use these vets again.

Thorough and caring staff.
At a distressing time I found the staff to be understanding, efficient and believe they left no stone unturned to help my pet. Even though the eventual prognosis was bleak, I noticed their empathy and wish to help and that was a comfort to me.

Vets Now saved my dog life
Vets Now saved my dog life. Our dog had Addison'scrisis when we went to Vets Now. We didn't know what was wrong with him when we took him to Vets Now. They looked after him straight away, did all necessary blood checks, and one hour later gave us provisional diagnosis. I cannot be more grateful to all the Vets and nurses for all their help 🙏 💓

Brought my cat in as he was unwell with diarrhoea and was a 3 hour wait in the waiting room which was fine but they did not have customer toilets, was told to go upto tescos with my cat. The receptionist was not that friendly either. I paid £250 as part payment and the receptionist is dealing with the insurance for the rest. I have since been pestered on several occasions for the rest of the money.

Really easy to contact despite being during the night on New Year’s Eve. The phone was answered immediately and advice clear. Everything was explained in accessible language and I was kept informed about my dog’s progress. I was given excellent advice on how to care for newborn puppies and my dog after her emergency Caesarean. Anticipated costs were explained and I felt that they were reasonable.

I am really grateful for the emergency help given for my injured cat, the only downside to the treatment is, it was assumed by myself and the vet that I my cat had been hit by a car and cared for accordingly: this was not the case, when my own vet saw the cat the first think he said, not a car injury, but she has been attacked by a dog, the injuries to the legs were bites, perhaps is was more obvious to a more mature vet.

Best vet experience
This was a wonderful experience here, they were endlessly kind, my cat wee'd all over me and they gave me some spare trousers to change into and something to clean the taxi with. They made Shadow feel very safe and he let them do everything they needed to, they knew exactly what to do and he's getting better. The best experience I've ever had at the vet I am so grateful for everything they did for us, the receptionists and the vet were simply wonderful, thankyou so so much.

Amazing
Vets Now were absolutely brilliant with my cat Archie, who needed overnight care for two nights. Every single person I spoke to was lovely and you can tell how much they care and look after their patients. They also sorted my insurance claim for me which took a huge load off my mind when I was worrying about my baby. Would 100% return if I ever needed out of hours care. Thank you all so much for taking such great care of Archie!!

Would highly recommend
The nurses and receptionist at the Bitterness branch were amazing. They dealt with my distress in an emergency situation as well as my cat’s unique difficulties with compassion and professionalism and out of all the vets I’ve been to, they were able to deal with my cat’s behavioural problems brilliantly. I’ll definitely use them again.
