Useless Customer help

Two weeks ago I bought "MyBook 4T". Could not install the Back up app provided with the system. I sent an e-mail requesting help. I provided ALL the information they needed. It took ONE WEEK to have an e-mail with links, that of course, none solved the problem. THEY ARE USELESS. I do not recommend anybody to buy any of their products. They just want to sell. They dont provide any help

Absolutely worst purchase experience ever

Read the reviews and buy at your own risk. I am surprised at the complete lack of concern WD shows regarding their reputation. Storage is a commodity business and their complete lack of customer service is horrifying and will only lead them to eventual closure.

I placed an order on a Sunday and on Monday I was laid off. I tried to cancel the order but was told I could not because it was already passed to the shipper. No true since the item did not ship out until Wednesday. Once the items arrived I immediately requested and received an RAM number for the items.

I was sent two separate boxes so I assumed I would receive two labels for the packages. If I had requested separate RMA numbers (ie requested RMAs on different days) I would have been two, my mistake. I chatted with an agent and asked why only one label for two boxes. The response made it clear that I was dealing with someone in a far off land. She told me to put the same label on both boxes - WHAT??!! I went to UPS and had to shell out $35 to ship the second box back. In retrospect I should have put everything in one box, but the cost of that would be close to what I paid for the additional box.

WD received both shipments on June 29. As you can see by the date of this review, it is now July 25. On July 7 I received a credit for one of the items returned, but not the two hard drives. I have emailed, called, and chatted multiple times since the return was received and all I am told is wait 7-10 business days, wait 7-10 business days.

Unfortunately, I used Affirm to pay for the drives and they offer absolutely no help for someone in my position. Even though WD has stated that I have returned everything and they received all of the items, I am not able to stop the payments or the interest that goes to Affirm without impacting y credit score. If I could do it over I would my Visa or MasterCard. I would have been able to, with all of the emails and other supporting documentation, dispute the charge and not have to continue to pay for something that was returned almost a month ago because they, unlike Affirm, also tend to offer better customer service.

This is the most pathetic service experience I have ever encountered.

They are very dishonest and I would avoid them at all costs. I called the number listed for cancellations under their terms and conditions (800-275-4932) the very first opportunity after placing my 2 orders. After putting me on and off hold a couple times, the gentleman got back on the line and told me the order was cancelled and I would be receiving a confirming email. After failing to get the email I called the main number (888-527-1441) an hour later only to find out he hadn't cancelled the item and now it's too late to cancel.

I bought a WD my passport which broke within a couple of weeks.
I lost a load of data (I should have been more careful and backed up twice I guess). They offered to replace the drive with an upgrade. I received a new drive, where the port was pushed back into the device and off centre. They also provided the incorrect cable.
So the offered to replace again. The port on the new one is far for being flush with the casing.....and again, the wrong cable.
Now they are apparently sending the correct cable to me.

Product arrived defective

I purchased a 4TB gaming drive from their website on 12-June-20. The only shipping option was for 2-day for $50. I was thinking, " Wow, that's steep." But since I really needed the drive, I looked at it as an investment. I received the gaming drive on 17-June, which is not 2 days later. It didn't work on my PS4 or laptop. I contacted the support office hoping to get a replacement but was given a credit that didn't equal the total purchase price. Apparently, the online store doesn't refund the shipping price. I will not purchase anything WD or their other companies again.

Don't buy direct!

First off, this review is about a terrible experience buying direct. I find their products to be of high quality.

Firstly, good luck finding the right way onto the e-commerce site of WD; depending on when you identify your geographical region, you'll be confronted with different sets of options. You'll also, again depending on your navigation method, be presented with different products when you search for a specific product name (the product range seems totally confused as there are different ranges identically called 'MyPassport' - genius!).

I bought direct from WD UK several months ago; immediate order confirmation, immediate payment processing, good delivery tracking, received goods as ordered within 4 business days; happy.

Saw a deal advertised and decided to buy (from same UK Direct web-store). No order confirmation, but could see my order on my account history. Payment taken immediately. As nothing had happened a week later, phoned support. They advised there was a problem with my order, it would get resolved. 3 days later received an order confirmation. 2 weeks later, account history showing order still 'processing'; checked web-store, saw the exact item (model and colour) still order-able (noted other colours becoming unavailable). Phoned support; promised this would be escalated.

3 days later, receive a cancelled order email. No explanation. Checked my PayPal account (and every day since), no refund (of payment made several weeks before). Phoned support; advised item was out of stock (website was still accepting orders in my chosen capacity and colour). Given the history, asked them to consider honouring the order/payment with a different colour. Promised it would be escalated and something would happen. Today, spoke with very defensive support (again) who advised I had ordered something that was out of stock, and told it takes 10 days for my payment to be refunded (it's now 27 days since they took the payment).

Ultimately, they didn't want to honour a sale at their own discounted rate.

Still unresolved, and my last interaction with support has left me feeling like it is my fault a) my order wasn't processed b) my goods never arrived c) my payment has not been returned. Who, in all honesty, wants that as a buying experience?

What a farcical way to manage a large electronics company. Somebody in the WD organisation doesn't know what they are doing and deserves to lose their job, for the sake of everyone else that works at WD. Despite liking their products, I could never recommend them!

Don't order direct

I've used WD hard drives for years, without a problem, however, I had never purchased directly from them before. I never will again.

Ordered 2 weeks ago. Courier has advised the item was damaged in transit. WD have been uncontactable to sort this out, either by refunding me, or by sending another. Disappointing.

I personally will not be ordering directly again. I wouldn't have done in the first place if I'd have found the reviews on this page!

A clueless WD user product experience

Purchased a Western Digital WD Elements 8TB external harddrive and the user experience has been created by someone clueless. Turned it on and set it up on my Mac, it automatically asks me if I want to set it up with Time Machine and I click ‘no’ because I don’t want that set up. Then the external harddrive stops working, blocks you and doesn’t allow you to drag and drop anything - basically unusable!!!. Such a bad experience, clueless usability and communication from set-up to the packaging.

Took it back to the shop and purchased another one and had the same experience. So Western Digital, two returns heading back your way because you can’t design an out of the box product.

Just purchased WD Passport Ultra and discovered there is no UK telephone support. The only number provided is a premium rate 00800 number.
If I try to use live chat, after going through various clicks, confirmation of model, personal details, typing out the query etc etc etc.... only to discover their chat support is closed and only operates US hours and is only for US customers!

Boxed and returned to Amazon !!
Waste of time!

Very substandard service

Very substandard service
I purchased 3 hard drives in December from their online store after nearly 2 weeks with no contact from WD regarding my order, I decided to get in touch.
Supposedly after the first call, a ticket was raised to investigate why it was taking so long to process but on a subsequent call (from myself), they admitted no ticket was raised. 3 calls in total, and 1 month of waiting, before they escalated the issue.
In total it has taken a month and a half to now be told they dont have the stock, which makes sense this long after the initial order as they have probably sold them all off to other customers.
Also no apology for waiting so long without much help
Not a company I'll use again for my hard drives, great products but terrible customer service

Support non-existent...initially.

Had a few difficulties along the way but ultimately support came up with the goods. initially this was 1 star because of the barrier WD put up when trying to contact them but in the end they phoned me and after a string of emails my two red was drives were replaced under warranty. So it is now a five star review.

Horrible support of my product

I called support because my wd passport was not backing up. The first agent I got had me to the same thing over and over again without result. So I got a case number and called back and got another tech. He told me it was being backed up but I just did not see it. I did not believe him so I called Geek Squad and they are helping me back it up right now.

Dishonest Company

I purchased a hard drive from this company through their partnership with Dish Network. The unit did not work from day one. The company refused to refund my money or replace the defective hard drive. They required me to send my receipt provided by Dish Network. Because the Dish Network receipt did not list the serial number of the device, the company representative, Jack Kummer, denied they request for a replacement device. They asked me for a picture of the box with the serial number, so I complied and emailed the picture to them. They made me jump through multiple hoops only to ultimately deny my request. I spent several hours on hold trying to get this resolved. I complied with all their requests. Stay awake from this company. They do not honor their warranties.
