Hostility and poor service from some waiting staff
We have been going to Weetons on Leeds Road for at least 3 years now and their service has been up and down, (which can happen sometimes), and from time to time we have had to highlight issues regarding their service to the management.
Usually we visit the place with friends but a couple of days ago my husband and I decided to have a couple of coffees while we were doing our shopping.
The service was very slow, we asked for hot coffee and when it arrived it was cold. We raised the issue with a member of staff who was quite defensive and stroppy but managed to change the coffee for my husband. When his coffee arrived (again it took a while) the young girl was not showing or expressing any apology for the delay when my husband mentioned the time taken to make one coffee. She put the coffee down, no communication and as she was walking away I asked if the manager was in. She was standing behind my shoulder, not directly facing me to answer my question. I asked her if she could take one step so that I could see her face.
On our way out, as we paid our bill we asked if they knew the name of the General Manager and to our surprise they didn’t know. As we were asking the question a middle-aged female waiting staff appeared and wanted to know about what we were asking. I repeated the question to her; she expressed that they don’t have any GM, and she asked what is it for. Then I explained about the young waiting staff’s body language that we had experienced. She immediately replied “you have no right to complain” about the way a member staff behaved.
In reply to her I said I am not complaining, I was just making an observation. And she accused me of being rude and opened the exit door to invite me to leave.
I have never seen such hostility from a member waiting staff, may be because I am of Spanish origin, and she didn’t want to accept any complaint from someone from a different nationality. Her hostile attitude was absolutely shocking.
So, think twice before you step into this restaurant.
Anniversary Lunch thoroughly enjoyed
My husband and I thought Weetons would be good for an anniversary lunch as se have always been fans of the Harrogate shop. We booked online and were delighted to find our chosen slot was available. We arrived 15 minutes before our chosen slot and were seated immediately. The staff were obviously very busy but after a few minutes we were asked for our drinks order and at the same time asked if we had decided on our lunch order. The very polite and friendly waiter told us we might have to wait 10 or 15 minutes for food but as we were in no hurry this was not an inconvenience. Within 10 minutes the food arrived. My husband had the Wagyu beef burger and i had the crab and avocado on sourdough with poached eggs. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. However my only gripe is that the eggs were cold (but perfectly cooked). This place is industrially decorated and very popular so don’t be surprised if you find yourself in a noisy canteen. Not a place for intimacy unless you go late afternoon. Perfect for tea and scones if that is your preference,
Visited on Valentines Day for lunch
Visited on Valentines Day for lunch. Even though we had a reservation we were informed on arrival that there would be a 30 minute wait for food. No explanation why but we agreed to wait. 40 minutes after ordering still no food however the table next to us who ordered at least 10-15 mins after received cooked food. Their burgers would surely have taken longer to cook than our croque monsieur and prawn sandwich! We pointed this out to a member of staff who said she would go and check on our order but never came back. Another 5 minutes later our food arrived with no apology. My husband enjoyed the croque monsieur and the fries were delicious. The prawn and crayfish sandwich however was greatly lacking in filling. First had this last year and it was was one of the best sandwiches I had eaten. Full of filling, soft focaccia bread. This time, half the filling and padded out with lettuce and slices of tomato. Very disappointed.
When we booked online on Friday it was clear from the lack of availability that the restaurant was going to be busy so why were they so unprepared? There are no excuses! Noticed a board outside the restaurant advertising for staff. Lets hope they get some and things improve because until they do, we won't be rushing back.
Poor restaurant service, little to recommend
Poor service overall, slow and unresponsive to polite requests. Our waiter apologised sincerely about a problem with their ordering system but it really doesn’t explain how we could wait for 20 minutes to place our order, another 20 minutes for water for the table to arrive (after repeated requests) and a further 20 minutes for lunch which was freshly prepared but unexceptional. We received a very curt reception, and overall (I won’t go on) it isn’t an experience I recommend or would repeat.
Visited weetons Leeds road with my mum…
Visited weetons Leeds road with my mum today 5th feb 2026 &to book a table you need to book on line as my mum is 100 there is no way she can book on line usually it’s good today we waited a while I realise being busy you have to wait but not too long our fish &chips poked good on the plate but cold the waitress apologies as working in the industry eating places r just not the same any more as complaining goes though one ear &out the other side it’s a same as eating out is a joyous occasion
Disappointing service of management
Everything. We waited 50mins for starters with 5 young children. When the mains came 2 were inedible, one raw, one overdone). The management kept telling us we had only waited 10mins until the waitress confirmed we had waited 50 mins. Many excuses were given which is fine but only the 2 meals were taken off the bill and a few scones given. A discount would have been more acceptable with a sincere apology and it all would have been fine.
A lunch of two dishes!
Had lunch yesterday at the restaurant, the staff were attentive and cheerful.
The food was very little slow to arrive, but to be fair it was busy, but still slower than you'd expect.
The Croque Monsieur was beautiful, plenty fresh hot-cooked ham and plenty of melted cheese.
However, the chicken breast and pesto sandwich was sadly lacking. The bread was dry, very little pesto for flavour or to moisten the bread and the chicken consisted of 3 over fried and dry chicken pieces, the whole thing just crumbled. I was offered a pot of mayonnaise when I mentioned how dry the sandwich was!!
Excellent response to query raised .
My friend and I had lunch on Friday 30th , which was excellent, good service and friendly atmosphere.
I won't go into great detail but I raised a query on allergy and cross contamination . I had an extremely extensive reply and a second email explaining they had reviewed and upgraded their procedures.
I am always concious of this when visiting a new place as we are always looking for safe places for my daughter-in-law enjoy eating .
If you are visiting make any allergies known as you arrive and you will have all your requirements attended to.
Also make time to visit the shop excellent range at a reasonable price . ( in fact 6 XL eggs were 50p cheaper than supermarket .
Happy Birthday 🥳 Lunch
Called for lunch at their Leeds Road branch.
We were greeted by a very nice man called Denis. He couldn’t have been more pleasant & helpful. Our waiter Sam was also excellent and very pleasant. Everything was very nice & these two made it special. It was my birthday and the staff brought cake
& sang Happy Birthday. Really nice.
The whole place is very interesting as they sell many excellent items.
Highly recommended.

We had a voucher for £5 off if you spend £50. Spent £60+ and were told at west park it only referred to the pannal site. Back home referred back to the voucher and it did refer to the west park site as well. Went back to west park, no managers available on a Sunday. Left my email with Tom. Was told they would get back within a few days. A week later no reply. Not good enough will not be going back anytime soon.
Belittling and Rude
Very disappointing after being belittled at the front of the restaurant by the woman seating bookings. She was rude and condescending, when the online booking system was taking bookings and she was telling us that we couldn’t be seated for far longer (which is fine) just don’t be as rude and obnoxious. I had booked before we went and then re-booked whilst there and was told to stand aside so she could deal with everyone else behind us in the queue, to which the majority were turned away abruptly.
Previous visits we have been given a buzzer if we didn’t have a booking or our table wasn’t ready and been able to browse the shops till our table was available. She again was very dismissive when we asked if this was an option.
I’d recommend it as a nice place to browse around, it is very expensive and I’d choose somewhere else to book for your lunch, that’d likely be more welcoming, quicker service and more affordable for what you’d get.
Extremely poor service
Extremely poor service. I understand that it isn’t easy to find staff however you would expect so much better. Service and good for the prices charged b
I am utterly fed up with Weetons'
I am utterly fed up with Weetons' unprofessional behavior. This company has been bombarding us with spam emails relentlessly, despite having never opted in to their marketing. It’s clear that they have no respect for privacy or professionalism.
Weetons, your constant spamming is not just annoying—it’s outright unacceptable. It’s disgraceful for a business that claims to pride itself on quality to stoop to such cheap and irritating tactics. If this is how you treat potential customers, I shudder to think how you treat loyal ones.
Get your act together, respect people's inboxes, and stop tarnishing your reputation with spammy nonsense. You’ve lost my respect, and I would never recommend your services to anyone.
SPAM worded like they are doing YOU a favour!
So, Rob Coutts (their '30 something' MD) seems to think it's ok to spam those who have never even heard of his bad-rep company, let alone people who have actually ever engaged with it?! Learn the law grasshopper - you're breaking it!
Very poor customer service.
We sat down in the restaurant at 1230 hours. After 15 minutes I went to the front of house lady who said she would send someone to us. That didn't happen for another 10 minutes. The man was offhand when taking our order and said they would be about a 20 minute delay in the food arriving.
We voiced our dissatisfaction to the waitress who cleared the table and brought the bill. She took our views seriously and apologised for our experience saying there was a shortage of chefs that day. She also noticed that bill was incorrect as it contained several extraneous items. She put this right and made another sincere apology. . The man who took our order came and offered a 50% discount which we accepted. He further apologised.
Ordered game pies and gave them plenty…
Ordered game pies and gave them plenty of time to deliver them before Xmas , they left it until the last moment to despatch and then claimed they would not be delivered as they were damaged. Utter rubbish false excuse, the courier simply failed to get them here.
Spam with everything
I wish there was a way of stopping this company from sending me spam. Their mails say that they are emailing me because the believe that I have an interest in their products. To maintain this belief in the face of my asking them to stop spamming is absurd. If their products are as poor as their system I could vever be interested.

sandwiches at WEETONS
Hi,
I visited Weetons in Leeds on 12/03/2023 and my friend and I ordered a prawn sandwich on sourdough bread to eat in. ( The choice of sandwiches was very limited.)
I was assured that they were freshly made.
They were horrible, the bread was stale, the mayonnaise used of poor quality, no butter on the bread and not a slice of lettuce or anything to make the food item more palatable used.
The service was good, hence we did not complain at the time. we did not want to cause a fuss.
Food in WEETONS in Harrogate is always of a high standard.
Never again.
