Easily the worst corporation I have…

Easily the worst corporation I have ever had to deal with. Internet went out TWICE in my neighborhood, both times they charged me $65 to fix it, for the entire neighborhood. Called to complain, they admitted they shouldn't have charged me, and then said if I paid them an extra $60 a year, they would stop charging me for service outages (that they admitted they had no right to charge me for anyway). I dopped them for T-Mobile this summer. They owed me a $16.45 refund. They sent me a pre-paid Mastercard, with a note saying that if I activated the card, the bank would 1) sell my #SS number to advertisers and 2) charge me $3.50 for activating it. I called WOW, asked them if a customer could pay a bill by sending them a pre-paid Mastercard, they said no, that was not an acceptable form of payment. I told them it wasnt for me either. They promised to send me a check. It never came. Called them many, many times, they kept saying it was being investigated. Unethical, dishonest, corrupt grifters.

Avoid this company

Avoid this company. WOW is trying to charge us for "missing equipment" after we canceled service. We have the FedEx receipt from when we returned their modem in their box, yet they claim their "warehouse" cannot find it. They won't let me talk to anyone in their warehouse. Furthermore, these are at most $50 modems yet they want us to pay over $200. This is as shady a business practice as it gets.

Wow will send you to collections over their billing mistakes

Had Wow for years never late decided to change service provider disconnected on last day of cycle to owe nothing after disconnect. Since then have been fighting over false charges that they claim are a mistake on their part and will take care of it. It never gets taken care of it's been 6 months now and they just put it on my credit report I'm a business owner and this is really bad. All they tell me evertime I call is they are expediting it to billing to correct, but the never do. Call center claims they have no phone number or email to billing they can give to customers to talk to them directly. I honestly don't know what to do. Come to find out I actually have a credit of 52.00 dollars they owe me, but yet was sent to collections!

Watch out! They will cheat you!

I cancelled service 3 days into a billing period and I have to pay for the entire month! That policy comes from their “Loyalty Dept!” 🤮 Before that… I had given them every opportunity to keep my business but they would not match Spectrum’s price. Only AFTER I cancelled did they offer to match the price! What a badly run company. Never again!

They are extortionists

I canceled my account, returned the equipment and they still say I owe them $400+ dollars and they can't give me an idea of how much my final bill will be, what kind of customer service is this, I use the word customer service loosely, because it isn't. You wait on the phone forever get transferred around 3-4 times. I was told I would get a final bill but not until 9/14/23, why the runaround? And Sam (female) wasn't very helpful never answered my questions. My next complaint will go to State Rep and Senator and a local news entity and maybe even national.

Been with WOW 3 years

Been with WOW 3 years. We recently moved somewhere where they didn't have coverage. Called to cancel they want to charge me $390 plus 2 months (notice) so basically close to 1,000 for the privilege of disconnecting. I said contract was only 2 years. They said: "well... it auto renews." stay away from these people.

I would not recommend WOW services!

Service and equipment is outdated and old. I live in an apartment complex that has WOW only and come to find out that they are using 30 year old plus lines. Nothing updated crappy equipment! Customer service experience over the phone is annoying at minimum with the foreigners with broken English being over apologetic and disingenuous in that when it comes to any issues and they love to transfer to multiple representatives, asking you the same questions over again and not really addressing or fixing any issues. Other internet providers in the Charleston SC area where I live have multiple offices all over the place which you can go into and speak to somebody face-to-face. WOW has one little office which they don’t staff to help out with billing or return equipment or any other issues or services. After seven years with being with them, it was time to leave, and I would not recommend them whatsoever. Their pricing is misleading, their services fair at best, customer service experience is one of the worst out there!
If you’re considering WOW, I wouldn’t unless you absolutely have them because they have a monopoly where you live. There are other alternatives which I utilize with a cell phone carriers WiFi tower and works perfectly fine and will save you on average $40-$60. Otherwise run don’t consider them at all, terrible terrible terrible!!!

WOW Internet Not committing to 2 year paid agreement.

I paid in advance for 2 years of internet only to have WOW said you owe more money 1 1/2 in to the 2 year agreement. WOW representative Kent and Tonya said our cost went up so we need to pass it to you. Tonya and Kent said the notes show that I paid for two years and said "there is no way the WOW supervisor could know prices would go up in two years". I did know my cost of living go up either but I still have to my commitments/agreements. I told both Kent and Tonya that I had done this 2 times prior to this with no price increases so why know? Because WOW doesn't have contracts/agreements with the end user, so we don't have to stick with that agreement. So, I will make sure to let all know what a deceptive, crocks, WOW and the mother company (Racecar Acquisition LLC). It is interesting, or maybe not, that you can't find a place to write an email or review on WOW's websites. I will continue to write the FCC, local TV, state representatives, Better Business Bureau and thousands of persons what a horrible company WOW internet and Racecar Acquisition LCC are and how they don't stick to agreements with the customer (me).

The Good, the Bad, and the Horrible

The Good: Internet works and seems fairly reliable, until...

The Bad: they cut off your service due to "rejected payments". These rejected payments (in our case, and which also seems prevalent in online reviews) are due to them charging OLD cards resulting in the charges being denied by the bank.

When you then contact customer service (which in my opinion is the absolute worst CS I've ever had to deal with), they tell you that your bank rejected the payment, but they will not provide you with any other supporting information other than "contact your bank". When you do contact your bank, the bank will have no record of any rejected payments. WOW! will also charge you all sorts of fees for this (late payment fees, reactivation fees, and they'll kick you out of your autopay setup resulting in $5 per month in fees).

In our case, it took days of phone calls over the span of months to get it all straight, when they finally admitted it was not our fault. Oddly enough, they did correctly charge the new card for one monthly payment after we updated the account, but then they reverted back to the old card. I think they have some real data system problems behind the scenes.

If I had to write about all of the hoops we had to jump through to get all of this straight, you'd be reading for hours. Sadly, once we finally did get it all straight, and re-setup autopay (which they made us wait a month to do), and everything was confirmed to be correct, they AGAIN charged the OLD card number and the whole process started again.

The Horrible: Did you know that if you call customer service and put in the phone number for the account (which you don't have to be calling from), the automated system will tell you the house number AND the WOW! account number for the customer? Seems like a pretty big security issue, but they don't seem to care.

Also, the automated system tells us that our bill is due on 2002. The year I guess. Again, it seems like they have A LOT of internal issues.

Finally, they do have the absolute worst customer service we've ever had to deal with - language barriers, audio delays that make it nearly impossible to not interrupt each other, terribly long hold times (especially if you ask to speak to a supervisor - we waited an hour once before hanging up), and the first tier supervisors will simply refuse to escalate further when they can't resolve an issue.

For many, WOW! is the only internet option. That's the case for us, and we are now planning to just use cell phones and wait for Starlink or some other alternative. It's simply just not worth the hassle any longer.

Worst customer service ever

I had extremely slow internet access even though I was paying for the premium package. They sent a tech who did work outside the house, which is their responsibility. This did not correct the issue and they charged me for the technician visit. I canceled my service and then received a bill for the next billing cycle. When I called about this I was put on hold for 45 minutes and transferred three times all the while listening to a recording telling me how great their service was, how I should upgrade, and telling me to refer a friend. I would not refer my worst enemy to this horrible horrible company.

Sorry but I really hate these people

Sorry but I really hate these people. I hate them because they lied to me and they waste of my time. My time is valuable. Just as valuable as theirs. I called wow to disconnect my cable but retain my Internet. I was told this would be no problem they would switch off the cable and I would not need to do anything and I would not need a service person to visit. Two days later I received a box with some new equipment. I did nothing with it. I shouldn’t have to …they told me I didn’t need to …and the Internet was working just fine .. the cable tv was disconnected but internet continued as before. Then I received a notification that I was going to be billed if I didn’t send back the old equipment. So… I disconnected the old and installed the new exactly as before.
And nothing worked. I called them, and some robotic Philipino walked me through everything they could …and still I was without Internet. They told me I was going to need to have a service tech come out. 🙄🔫… I told them wait… I disconnected the new devices. I reconnected the old equipment and everything worked again. I am now sending them back the new and unnecessary equipment. And I will begin immediately to look for a new Internet provider. I just wasted three hours of my time for nothing. The people at WOW are incompetent or liars or both.

They will rob you without a gun

They will rob you without a gun. They lose their own equipment and then charge you 5 times the value of it. They put out a collection on your credit history as a timed bomb to make you pay for their mistake. You call them and explain to them its their mistake with all the needed information, and they give you the same bs script "we need to contact our warehouse and they will call you back in a weeks time". They never call you back. Weeks will go by. You call them again. A month will go by without response. They bank on sending you for a loop for literally MONTHS on end, knowing that your credit score is dropping as they take all the time they can forcing you to wait for them to do nothing. Indecent business structure. Fraudulent. Stay away from them. They will force you to pay for their mistakes and waste your precious time to boot.

They are thieves. Stay away from them.
