Low quality builds for high quality prices

I bought my laptop with the intention that it would be my forever laptop. I splurged on all of the upgrades including the graphics and memory card totaling over $3,500. I figured I would be using this laptop for the next 10 years so it would eventually pay off. Not even 3 months passed before the laptop began to deteriorate. The casing began to come undone. Soon the laptop could not even support the weight of its own screen without coming unhinged. After 6 months the whole bottom of the laptop began to come undone exposing all of the hardware. I could only use the laptop if it was connected to a display. Even then the laptop would not close properly without being misaligned. The final straw was when the mouse stopped functioning all together. I reached out to support and they told me all products were under lifetime warranty for parts and labor and that if I bought a prepaid label from them they would fix it and send it back. I paid $80 to ship it to Xotic pc only for them to tell me it would cost an additional $100 for them to trouble shoot for issues that I already explained to them and even then they would only give me a quote for how much more it is going to cost to fix. Rather than pay another $100 to discover the mystery price of fixing my laptop i declared it a lost cause. Now I am stuck with the carcass of a non functioning laptop that I need to strip for parts. Needless to say I will not be recommending Xotic pc to any of my friends. Additionally when I try to post a review on their website it keeps giving an error message

I’m sorry to hear about the experience you’ve had and I understand why you’re frustrated—especially after investing $3,500+ with the expectation that this would be a long-term, “forever” laptop.

That said, I do want to set clear expectations: your laptop is now over 4 years old, and with any electronics—especially high-performance systems—a 10-year lifespan should not be the baseline expectation. Performance laptops run hotter, cycle components harder, and see more wear over time than typical consumer devices. Nothing in electronics lasts forever, and longevity is heavily influenced by usage, transport, environment, and normal wear items.

On the warranty/service side, I also want to clarify how the process works:

Shipping costs are separate and the prepaid label you purchased covers transportation only.

The $100 diagnostic/troubleshooting fee is a standard part of the repair workflow because we cannot responsibly quote repairs without physically evaluating the system—even if symptoms are described in detail. Multiple issues can share the same symptom, and the diagnostic step is how we confirm the true root cause and provide an accurate repair quote.

After diagnostics, you receive the quote and can decide whether you’d like to proceed.

Regarding the physical issues you described (hinge/casing separation and alignment), those conditions often relate to wear-related mechanical stress over time, and are not always treated the same as a component failure. Still, the correct path is evaluation so we can determine what’s happening and what the repair options would be.

strawberry milk

Call me weird but the strawberry milk case at a price I can afford was the selling point for me. I liked the ability to customize and I've had a great experience with them but strawberry milk color was the best

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

A little scary having to install the GPU especially for a first timer like myself. At first I got no graphics and panicked but just redid the states in the QR code video provided. But 100 percent worth the buy. It's a beautiful PC. I look forward to the years to come.

Easy customization

It was wonderful and super easy to customize! I got exactly want I wanted and I’m super excited for my build to come in. I only heard good reviews about the company and after months of research and comparison this was the best bang for my buck for a custom build with them building it for me.
