Easy to use and honest reflection on what’s healthiest options available

Easy to use and really eye opening, this app will tell you how healthy a product is rated but it won’t soften any blows by massaging the message for what you as a consumer may want to hear. Honest and straightforward great for people interested in buying the healthiest options they possibly can manage....and having a good effect on food industry too. Win win!

Informed choice literally in the hands of the consumer.

This is a smooth operator that scans the bar code and gives you a rating faster than you could read the product name on the packaging on the shelf. The app provides a depth of information on ingredients, links to further information and a very useful list of safer alternatives products.
With so many products using tiny font size and colour contrasts that make it near impossible to read ingredients with the naked eye, just being able to see this information alone is helpful. A simple tool that puts informed decision making literally in the hand of the consumer.

This app has transformed the products I use in the bathroom and my skin is so much better for it. It has also saved me so much time researching the best products for minimising my impact on the planet. In my top 10 apps

I have been using the YUKA app for…

I have been using the YUKA app for about 1 year. I recently heard that it did not have great reviews, I was so bummed, so I came here and started reading. First thing I don't think some understand how this app works. I would assume some making negative comments don't use the full paid app.
1. Martinelli vs Motts apple juice. I searched both and the Martinelli has more sugar and higher calories, hence a worse rating.
2. Rimmel Kind Concealer did suggest a replacement but it is not the same product but in fact Neutrogena.
3. Rice Cakes. you don't state what rice cakes you are referring to but no rice cake is 150 calories so my hunch is it was for 2 rice cakes per serving.

People putting up bad reviews and then stating "I don't get it" don't post a bad review when obviously you don't know what your talking about.

No I don't work for Yuka but I love this app.

I have found that products such as deodorant, lets take Native for instance, the coconut & vanilla scores excellent when the Sandalwood & Shea is Poor. Both Native brand but different fragrance score different.

Craize brand crackers Guava flavor score Good when the coconut flavor score Poor.

Different fragrance, flavors, score different.

Purchase the app, it's not expensive and learn how to use it before posting a negative review.

Again I DO NOT WORK FOR YUKA
I am a retired crane operator living in Ca.

This could have been so good!

So on the face of things at first I thought the app was a godsend to help us live our best healthiest lives making the correct product choices. This app is frustrating at best! Researching products to purchase and use one week to discover another week the ratings have gone from excellent to bad. There is absolutely no consistency with the ratings of the same product which is a shame as I really wanted this to be the holy grail and a great reference point for health benefits.

Been using yukA for over a year and a half been using it we paid for the…

I've been using it we paid for the subscription last year so you can do offline checking. Overall it's pretty good. However, the problem is like cookies. They're not something you eat for meals or something has a snacks so they give them. Usually a rating of 30 or less and they don't consider canola oil as a negative which it is an unhealthy oil. Another problem is example martinelli sparkling apple juice. They rate it as poor and then I check like Mott's apple juice which is definitely inferior and they gave it a good rating. That makes absolutely no sense. I think because the one is made from fresh apple juice and the other one is made from reconstituted apple juice. So it has less sugar in it. One is made by a huge corporation the others made by a local company in Northern California, yet they're rated as poor their apple juice and the big conglomerate is a rated as good. That makes no sense. I just wish they could get their act together. The good news is they do respond to emails and problems you're having and they do look into it which is a big plus. But I think it's pretty good but they needed a lot of work to get it to where people will use it more. Cuz I'm not paying for a subscription this year. I just use it once in awhile. If they improve things I'll buy another subscription. It's only $8 a year. But yeah it's decent but needs a lot of work. Like I said, blah blah blah I'm talking too much

Awful app for £9

I'm convinced this company are doing as little as possible to get you to part with £9 a year. The free app is worthless and the paid one is barely functional. It's missing so many features, yet in months of using it, it hasn't been improved once. How is it so difficult to find cosmetics when that is what the app is made for?

Sad that gullible people with very few brain cells are falling for this app. It’s created a whole new wave of people who know nothing about science, cosmetic chemistry. This app does NOT measure quantity!!! And it’s based on rat studies. Please people do you even realise what that means???

These hippie type people on social media talking about chemicals in this and chemicals in that; WATER IS A CHEMICAL!!! EVERYTHING IS A CHEMICAL!! Stop being a sheep and fearmongering and learn some science!!! Absolutely shocking this app is allowed to be accessible but thankfully the scientists and experts are working to get it banned

Not reliable anymore

I thought it was a great app until l started scanning seemingly healthy food ie: raw almonds, now saying they are bad for you. A lot of 5 star ratings on food are coming up as poor, l dont get it.

Don't appear to be able to trust ratings

I thought this app looked really great and I have spent ages over the past couple of days, chucking out bad stuff and researching replacements but I had an uneasy feeling that items were appearing with conflicting reviews i.e. bad and good. My suspicion was confirmed when I looked up Rimmel Kind and Free concelaer. It is given a rating of 46/100 (poor). A recommended replacement is, what appears to be, the same item but this time it has a rating of 90/100 (excellent). I can therefore no longer trust this app.

Not actually accurate or helpful.

Loads of my friends started talking about how great the YUKA app was so I downloaded and started scanning. I started to notice a few patterns.

When I scanned my rice cakes that say they’re 35 kcal each and the Yuka app stated they were 150, I started to look more closely and have started noticing lots of inconsistencies. When I researched a bit more how they determine info I came here and found lots of negative reviews. My conclusion is that scientific articles, reviews and medical journals (ie: doing more research) is definitely a better and safer method. I have now deleted Yuka.

I hope others take a minute to use their critical thinking skills to see that this app is actually really unhelpful and inaccurate.

I really like this app but I don’t like…

I really like this app but I don’t like the way they advertise toothpaste that contains fluoride to be excellent, So it could be abit bias and not 100% Truthful, As Floride is one of the most dangerous neurotoxins there is its almost on par with arsenic, It was used for years to kill rodents and it is still used as a pesticide.

Dangerous and highly toxic app

Dangerous and highly toxic app. My teenage daughter has developed a full blown eating disorder because of apps like these. Found it on her phone and deleted it. Absolutely disgusting. No food is a "bad" food. What app has the right to tell you a certain food is bad?!

Seems a good idea BUT

Seems a good idea, but a huge but. No reference to portion size. Everything is per 100g or 100ml., surely it should also show how much per typical portion which is much more relevent.
Also would be good to have allergies show up.
