More than 50% of our stamp duty returned to us within a month!
Like many other reviewers, I was skeptical when I received a letter in the post which indicated that I may have overpaid stamp duty.
I called and spoke to Ben who was happy to answer my queries.
Ben's team were extremely efficient - I received a document to sign electronically and a welcome message with questions for me to answer within an hour.
Amy was really helpful and on-the-ball.
I spent an hour or so taking photos to support our application for a stamp duty refund.
From start to finish, including answering a couple of extra queries from Amy, the whole thing took less than 4 hours.
Even so, I remained skeptical - how many times have we all heard stories in the news where somebody was tooo trusting and got scammed? I didn't want to be one of those people... and how often does anyone _really_ have a successful claim for money they didn't know they'd overpaid?
It sounded too good to be true.
However, my skepticism was unfounded (sorry Ben, Amy & co!).
2-3 weeks later I received an email from Amy, confirming that HMRC had received our claim.
2 days ago, Amy emailed again to say that the money was on its way from HMRC to Davis & James.
And then yesterday (having provided my proof of ID and the account details into which we want the money to be paid), we received a large payment (more than half the amount we originally paid in stamp duty) into our account.
Like you... I scanned the Trust Pilot reviews before committing to this process.
And scanned them again before I handed over my bank details.
