Unimpressed will go elsewhere online
Just mooched around Hobby Craft to get out of the downpour whilst awaiting my MOT. The first item I was interested in (a sewing pattern) at the back of the shop was supposed to have a code on it, to check the price on the sign. It didn’t. So I asked a nearby staff member. She said - “Just check the code”. I said “I can’t, there isn’t one”. She said “Let’s see the sign and check its code”. I said “I can’t there isn’t one on the item”… she checked… “ Ah no, there isn’t a code!” I said how can we know the price?” She said “Oh, I don’t know! Take it to the other end of the shop and get it scanned”. I couldn’t be bothered to traipse all the way back to the till, and she certainly couldn’t be bothered. I said “I’ll leave it!”. She went back to looking at glittery things again.
Later I saw a ‘Pop-up theatre tent’ I fancied getting for my grandies. No price on it, and no sign. After a search I continued shopping, got a couple of other bits with actual price signs and went to the till where the girl was leaning back in her chair doing nothing, yawning her head off. I paid for my items and said “by the way, how much is the pop-up theatre tent back in the middle section of the shop?”. This said “Ahh Dunno”. I said could you find out?” Reply “Nahhh!”. I said “Ah great, that’s 2 sales the store has missed out on today”. She looked at me square and said “you can go get it and bring it here to check”! I said “No thanks. I’ll get one elsewhere”. Is it me? Or are shop staff supposed to increase sales and offer customer service to increase the business profit? Apparently not in Eastbourne.
