Incompetence, and Technologically inept.
I have a repeat subscription to an overseas digital newspaper (Based in USA). My credit card keeps being blocked because of this £4 monthly charge.
No one phones, no SMS, no email, nothing to enquire if this transaction is genuine.
Each month I have to waste 2 hrs calling them to unblock my card, despite me telling them the £4 charge will be repeated. Their notes are captured recording this fact, yet it is ignored. I was stranded recently when my card would not work and I had a wife and young kid who could not be fed at that point in time.
I have been told today that I will have to call them each month to release the block that they will apply despite knowing and acknowledging that the £4 charge will reoccur. And to think I spend almost £1500 average per month through the card, yet the expected monthly £4 charge for my subscription cannot be ignored, and I have to deal with this failure of a company. Their staff are rude, belittling and unsympathetic to the plight of the customer. I have alerted the merchant in question who are keen to write an article on this, and some uk based media outlets are keen also. When you think that people are struggling with high stress because of the economy and Covid, then, how can it be that a credit card company would keep you on hold for 1 1/2 hrs, cut you off repeatedly while you are trying to resolve their issue, whilst talking over you, then belittle you, and will continually be rude to you, and showing complete incompetence throughout the charade.
I am going to ensure this company is taken to the cleaners, and that serious external investigations are conducted. Enough is enough.
Anyone reading tis, run a million miles from this firm, and continue to run for the hills.
