Review of Yorkshire Caravans & Motorhomes

OK UNTIL THINGS ARENT OK

My wife and I visited Yorkshire Caravans on 4th January 2026 with a view to looking at what might suit us for our next caravan. After being on site almost 4 hours deliberating, we decided to purchase a 2020 Coachman 875 Laser Xcel and it was one of the dearest used caravans on the pitch. Our salesman was Paul who was very informative and seemingly honest with his appraisal of the caravan and specifically its former keepers and service history. - It turns out he would have said absolutely anything to get a sale.

Between the purchase agreement and collection I started to notice some irregularities in the information coming from my contact with Paul. It was sold as a one owner van but then he told me the reason the factory issue wheel locks were missing was because the previous owner didnt receive them. When I reminded Paul he'd told us it was one owner so It would be reasonable to expect that 1 owner did have everything from new he didnt have an answer apart from 'if I told you that it will be true and he'd look into it'.

When we went to collect the caravan the handover was rough. The battery hadn't been replaced as agreed, the caravan had no history available or even an owners manual etc and no second key! I had a direct conversation with Paul regarding our conversations at the point of sale and our reasonable expectations and he was insistent on sorting the issues out for us. He offered an apology and shook my hand as a confirmation and gesture of liability to resolve the missing items.

Retrospectively it would seem we shouldn't have taken the caravan because the moment the wheels rolled out the gate the game changed. Yorkshire Caravans have delayed, diverted and denied every aspect of our complaint.

On top of all of this the caravan was basically a colander and I would have expected they'd want to get the caravan back in and under cover asap to protect our investment and their reputation but unfortunately not. due to all the delays and denial I lost confidence in them so as an engineer of over 25 years resolved the leaking roof myself.

Following multiple written complaints and escalations we have got nowhere. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing.

My final email to them was a cancellation of all complaints due to literally getting nowhere and I cannot give the time or effort to a losing battle. Even though i have no doubt that legally we are right and just in our complaint. Yorkshire Caravans failed to reply.

I am absolutely disgusted in them.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are very sorry to read how disappointed you feel about your experience, as this is certainly not the outcome we want for any of our customers.

After receiving your concerns we carried out an internal review and spoke with the team involved so we could better understand the situation.

Regarding the service history, the caravan was not advertised as having a full service history and this was not referenced in the original listing. As with many used caravans, we present the information available to us as accurately as possible at the time of sale.

In terms of the inspection prior to collection, the caravan did undergo a full Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). This follows the same process and checks as a habitation service, however it is referred to as a PDI when completed as part of the preparation process before a vehicle is handed over to a new customer.

With regard to the roof leak you mentioned, we did offer for the caravan to be returned to us so that our workshop team could inspect and repair the issue. Unfortunately this offer was declined, so we did not have the opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter ourselves.

We also confirmed that a replacement key had been ordered directly from the manufacturer to ensure the correct and genuine part was supplied. As explained at the time, these can take several weeks to arrive. We understand you chose to purchase an alternative key in the meantime and we would be happy to reimburse this cost.

Finally, the carpet concern mentioned in your review had not previously been raised with us. Had we been made aware, we would have been more than willing to arrange replacements or resolve this for you.

We genuinely regret that you feel this way about your experience and we would still welcome the opportunity to resolve the remaining points with you.

My wheels were damaged

My wheels were damaged by the tyre fitter.

Response very much appreciated. I understand accidents happen and I’d very much appreciate a swift resolution.
