I went to the Vodafone shop in Andover, Hants, UK.
The person who helped me was named Connor. My contract had ended a couple of month before I went in and I wanted to know what options were available to me, what I would get and how much it would cost. I explained how I used my phone, what was important to me and what wasn't. Connor then showed me two options: one where I kept my current handset and went onto a sim-only contract; and another where I'd get a new handset.
He explained very clearly what I'd get, what the costs would be and how I'd make payment for each option.
I made my decision and he processed everything. At each step he explained what he was doing.
I decided on a new handset, and was concerned about transferring my contacts etc to the new phone - he reassured me that there was an app that could sort all of that out, which made me feel relieved and confident.
I received a text when my phone arrived in store. Collecting it was very simple and the handset was exactly what I expected.
The app to transfer all the info also worked exactly as Connor described.
