Dropped and jammed lens

My DSLR fell out of the boot of my car, landing on the end of the lens. The zoom was totally jammed, and the lens was out of alignment. 1st Aid Repairs gave me a reasonable quote over the phone, (cheaper than my insurance excess!) and so I packaged the lens up and sent it to them. The lens has been returned in 2 weeks rather the estimated 3, fully fixed. Brilliant service, i’m very pleased. Thank you 1st Aid Repairs.

Repair was unsuccessful

Dropped my Sony A58 and wrecked stabilisation.
Sent for repair and when it was returned the dual view with LCD and viewfinder didn't work.
Other settings were dodgy too. Nothing seemed to work well. Every picture was dark despite changing ISO etc
However this was just as pandemic was spiking so might have been because of lack of staff and other pressures.
Sold camera for parts.

Fixed it!

Sony A7iii needed repair, and after a small email conversation they identified what they thought was the issue, along with a quote and timescale.

Due to parts issues outside their control, it took slightly longer than expected but once it was finished it was sent back next day.

Great service, fixed a problem I didn't think they could, and you'd never know it was even broken.

Very happy (and reasonably priced too).

I highly recommend !!!

Hi, my Canon 5dm2 came back from repair yesterday. Excellent contact, fast diagnosis, even faster repair at a very good price. 2 other companies refused to repair at all under the pretext of an old camera model.I am very satisfied with the service of this company and recommend it to everyone who has a problem with their camera. World class professionalism greetings

Excellent Customer Service

Although the company have been unable to repair my camera as it needs to be returned to the manufacturer their service has been exceptional, arranging the camera to be forwarded and keeping me informed. Would recommend and consider first choice if needed again.

5 Star Service And Fix From Rhys!

I just spoke to a guy called Rhys about a problem I was having with the card reader on my Panasonic Lumix. It appeared that there was a problem with the card reader and I was about to send the camera off to have a new one fitted. But after following Rhys's instructions it became clear that it was user error and Rhys talked me through solving the problem, saving me over £100!

Very professional and knowledgeable, would definitely recommend giving them a call to fix user error or faulty equipment. Thanks Rhys!

I've just received my repaired Fujifilm…

I've just received my repaired Fujifilm XT2 camera, which required installation of a new motherboard. I am extremely happy with the standard of repair, and the camera is now working as good as new. Another repair business who I consulted had told me they couldn't repair Fujis. Not only is the camera now working perfectly, it has been cleaned and even the firmware has been updated without me asking. It was neatly packaged on return and communications were prompt and clear. The work was very competitively priced and I couldn't be happier with it.

Fungus In Old Lenses

1staidrepairs cleaned up a couple of old lenses for me about 6 months ago. I've used the lenses a lot since, they did a lovely job and provided a very efficient friendly service. If you have old school lenses with fungus issues I would definately recommend them.

Absolutely first class experience.

Absolutely first class - they fixed something that Sony said could not be fixed. A few months ago I dropped a Sony 2x teleconverter and damaged the mounting surface. I sent it off to a London based repairer and to Sony themselves. Both sent it back saying it could not be repaired.

Having read good reviews of 1st Aid I contacted them and sent photos and they said they could fix it. I duly sent it off and in less than half the time they said it would take, the teleconverter was returned to me fully repaired and working perfectly.

The cost of the repair was very reasonable too which made it even better. Communications were first class throughout this repair and my experience was very very positive.

They saved me from having an expensive paperweight by doing something the manufacturer said could not be done.

Thank you 1st Aid, hope I never need to but if I do, I'll use again!

Thank you for your feedback, we are happy that we could assist.

In Sony's defense, as with many other large companies, they are bound by corporate rules on repairs, which as a family business we are not, so we can go the extra mile.

Horrific

Horrific. I sent my camera for a simple lcd display repair.

They gave me an estimate of 15 working days which is 3 weeks. I wait for more than 2 months to get my camera back. Every time I contacted them, they told me that the spare lcd was getting delayed somewhere in transit.

When I called them and that happened for the third time, it was already over 2 months so I asked for my camera back. They made me pay 15 pounds or else they would pretty much hold my camera hostage.

The woman on the phone was actually pretty rude, too.

I'm pretty sure it's either a scam or they're just in the brink of closing down. Either way they won't care about you so avoid or lose your money.

I ended up spending the same amount for the repair for an external LCD and guess what, that came in 2 days.

Harry,
I am sorry to hear you had a negative experience with 1st Aid Repairs.
Unfortunately in the current climate Nikon are running with less staff, and the part was not in stock in Europe with them.
We did source the LCD from an alternative source, but the quality was not up to standard, and we were not happy to fit it to your camera.
We do however have the part in stock now should you wish to have it replaced.
Kind Regards,
1st Aid Repairs

Sigma lens

HSM focus failed on my 80-200 Sigma. When I got the lens back it still didn't work ! After some investigation, !st Aid discovered that I had updated the Nikon D7100 software while the lens was away and it wasn't compatible any more ! !st Aid wound back the Nikon software for me, and also sorted out the lens chip with Sigma for the cost of postage to Sigma!. Fantastic service, can't say enough about their help and knowledge! (Have left the Nikon with their update though - Just in case I buy another Sigma lens !) Great people, many thanks !

Excellent service & Quick, helpful communication.

Always nerve-racking sending an expensive piece of equipment off to get repaired, but I was extremely impressed and put at ease with the entire service received, from the quick initial consultation over the phone giving me an estimate price which was accurate when it came to final billing, to the quick and great communication whenever I had any extra enquiries or concerns about anything.

Packaging when being sent back was also extremely well and safely packaged, really happy overall with the service and will definitely be using them again soon!

Thanks guys.
