My mother passed away and I was taken from the hospice within 3 hours after dying. the hospice provided me with the funeral homes details and told me your sibling, was not being very nice to me and moved her so quick that, I wouldn't have got to the hospice in time. I was told to come to the hospice and they gave me the details of the funeral home that they had on their system where she was taken and that they cannot stop me from seeing my mother. I am the deceased youngest & last child my Sadie mother who was a proud Jamaican woman. I searched the funeral home and realised it wasn't the Caribbean funeral home that my other had used for her mother in stock Newington & that it was a another funeral home ABNEY FUNERAL SERVICES and they had open during COVID-19, In March 2020 to be exact my incline was wow, this place is not about the people its about money to find a profiting business during a painful time like covid-19 to profit of death was alarming. My middle son called on the following day and asked can he come and see his grandmother at the funeral home and he was told he needs consent first & he kept calling and they wasn't allowing him to see his late grandmother. I decided to make a visit myself, with my son and daughter to see my mother who was in ABNEY Funeral home and I brought with me my birth Certificate, the Original from 1982 with both my parents listed on it and my passport and drivers licence, I also brought my deceased mothers Birth Certificate and a picture of her passport with her correct information. I was Told that I could not see my mother and was rudely spoken to then I was taken in a room and the manager a man of African & white decent told me and my children after I gave him all proof of being the deceased, paternal child and the letter headed information from the north London hospice that my mother is in the next room and I cannot see her and if I wanted to see her I needed to take my other siblings to court and that if I wanted to stop the funeral I need to get an injunction and that is the only way I could see my mother or be apart of her funeral. I told the funeral owner the man that, the date of birth that they have is incorrect and that everything that, I am showing him is her correct information and the truth. my mother was buried in the wrong information and was not official dead on paper until 28th August 2025 after, I had to fight to get it changed through the General registration office. I didn't get to see my mother & I did file court papers by the time it was listed at the court they had already done the funeral, the court proceedings continued but the burial was done and the funeral home had a plaque with my mother day and year of birth 2 years an one month younger because they believed my sibling who had done fraud on my mothers death certificate, because she had made herself power of attorney 3 months before my mother died without my mother even knowing or being present. Then day the person dies the power of attorney ends immediately & everything goes into an estate but if the person is not dead officially, the person who has power of attorney over everything. My mother's deaths certificate didn't correlate with the birth certificate and all her wealth, properties and money was in her ligament information. My mother's funeral was paid for from her own money by the daughter who done the fraud who has the same name initials , to steal her siblings inheritance because you can't get inheritance if the person cannot be found on the system as dead, but the funeral home cared more about MONEY!!! THAN DIGNITY!!! OF MY LATE MOTHER AND NOT ONLY DIDN'T ALLOW A PATERNAL CHILD NOT TO SEE THERE DECEASED MOTHER, THEY BURIED MY MOTHER SADIE IN THE WRONG DATE OF BIRTH. The horrific things that happened to my mother dying within a month of being in the UNITED KINGDOM after being taken from Jamaica by the daughter who done the fraud. it screams volumes what type of funeral home this is. all they care about is MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! & they get no respect from me & my siblings are not to happy about being in court right now, regarding me being me being told by GREEDY the funeral home to get an injunction and court order to see my own deceased mother in there not so holy funeral home.

Fathers funeral was just yesterday the 27th of October. I cannot fault the professionalism especially the lady who was so smartly dressed who led the procession. I had never heard of Abney prior to my fathers demise. Would highly recommend Abney

Felicia was so thoughtful, patient, reassuring, kind and respectful. Each step of the way she answered all our questions and on the day the service was so well organized and beautiful. The pallbearers and the limousine were so grand. Nonja and the team took such good care of my mum who had passed. The viewing had such a calming and dignified atmosphere. Our family will share the memory of that beautiful experience for generations. We are truly grateful to all at Abney.

Daniel and his colleagues took care of my late parents with great care and dignity. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The most lovely and memorable thing was Daniel did, was to drive past slowly in the hearse passing my late father’s house for the final time before heading to the cemetery.Daniel walked ahead of the hearse. These touches make them special.

We have now asked them to take my wife’s father and uncle into their care.

The Abney team recently carried out the burial services for my mum, from start to finish they stood alongside us to ensure we gave her the send off she deserved.

Family abroad streaming the service kept calling to tell us that the burial and ceremony were perfect.

The first thing they saw was Nonja leading the procession, and it was the first time many had seen a female undertaker, something my younger nieces and nephews commented on throughout the afternoon. We were all amazed that she & Albert didn’t seem to feel the cold, as they guided the cortège to the church as if the -20 temperatures didn’t affect them!

Everyone that approached us throughout the day commented on the smooth coordination of the viewing, and their ‘hands on!’ approach during the committal. The attention to detail and to the mourners was extremely heart warming; from David laying out chairs at the cemetery, Anthony offering my Uncle his coat at the church, to Fitzroy helping the elders get up
the stairs at the reception, the Abney Team seemed to instinctively be in the right place at the right time, this for me summed up the experience of working with Abney ‘always there when needed!’ Felicia always seemed to know when to call to check how things were going, and she and Albert guided us through the traditional rites and final viewing with complete calmness and grace.

The viewing was a first for my niece and she said ‘auntie looked just like she did when she went out to her parties’ so am really glad Felicia made her first experience one that left her with a great memory. In fact all the family, in London and abroad have great memories of the day and that is in no small part to the Abney team.

Abney funeral services were amazing. The organisation of my Mum's funeral was perfect. They kept me informed at every decision and every update was upheld until the day itself. They treated my Mum with respect and supported in giving her a dignified send off. Thank you and five stars is not enough to explain how impressed I was with their service.

In November 2023 I lost my big brother. After much consideration Abney Funeral Services were appointed as the funeral directors and it was honestly the best decision we made. With this being our first experience organising a funeral in the UK, their knowledge, support and understanding was instrumental in making the process a little easier during a tough time for the family.

Daniel and his team were fantastic throughout the process. The compassionate home visit, the beautiful setting of the viewings, their clear, consistent communication, the respect and empathy at the funeral; every step handled at the highest level of service, going above and beyond to ensure my brother received the farewell he deserved. As Ghanaians, their understanding of cultural sensitivities was a crucial component to the smooth running of the day and left a lasting impression on everyone who attended the funeral.

I would highly and actively recommend Abney Funeral Services. Should we find ourselves in the unfortunate situation of organising a funeral again, there is only one funeral directors we will be contacting.

Whilst burying a loved one is not a pleasant experience, Abney eases some of that burden with their support. When I lost both my parents unexpectedly, Daniel and his team did everything in their power to ensure I was not overwhelmed, particularly Nonja. She kept me informed throughout the process, guided me through decisions that needed to be made, etc. On the day of the funerals, the operation was smooth and coordinated and was a fitting send off for mum and dad.
