Rented at San Francisco Airport…
Rented at San Francisco Airport ,Valerie on the check in desk was a star and Tim in the garage is a credit to the company.
Good rental experience
Good customer service at Miami airport, nice little Jeep Renegade, helpful customer service on phone.
Renting from Alamo at the Denver International Airport
I rented a car from Alamo at the Denver airport. Although this review has a negative aspect, I write it because the customer service I received was exceptional!
When I arrived in Denver (mid January) the customer representative told me I needed an all wheel drive car because I was headed into the mountains. So I upgraded from a rear wheel drive vehicle. This proved to be the right choice as I ended up in a snow storm! It was in the snow storm that I realized the windshield washer container was empty! So I had to navigate driving with brown dirty spray hitting the windshield. Fortunately, when I hit the fluid button a couple of times, a couple of small squirts hit the windshield. Then as it snowed harder, more spray came off the vehicles in front of me to assist in cleaning the windshield. Finally I came to an exit, pulled into a gas station and bought windshield washer fluid.
When I returned the car, the gentleman (Hernan) who checked the car in, asked about the trip and the car. So I told him about the lack of washer fluid. Before I could say anything, he told me we were going to talk about a discount. As impressed as I was with the discount, I was more impressed by Hernan's desire to take responsibility on behalf of the company and start a conversation, before I could ask about what could be done.
As I close my note, I do wish I could remember the young ladies name who told me I needed to upgrade. I appreciated her care about my welfare. I also do want to reiterate Hernan's exceptional customer service skills! I'd say this is a sign of a company's training of its employees to exceed a customer's need for satisfaction when something goes wrong!
Terrible Rental Experience and Charges at Barcelona Sants Station
I recently rented a car from Alamo at the Barcelona Sants Station and was disappointed with both the service and the unexpected charges. Despite reserving a specific vehicle online, none were available upon my arrival. I was accommodating due to the busy season and accepted a Fiat 500 manual instead of compact elite automatic car. However, the return process was fraught with issues, including unexplained charges for supposed tire damage amounting to 500 Euros. I was under the impression that the rental included insurance, but was informed otherwise at the time of return, and the staff, particularly Federico, was dismissive and unhelpful. My credit card was charged without proper explanation or my consent. The lack of transparency and customer service has left me very dissatisfied, and I urge others to be wary of renting from this location. A thorough review of policies and improved communication is highly recommended to avoid such negative experiences for future customers.
Horrific customer experience AVOID ALAMO
Horrific customer experience - rented from Montreal office prebooked car - the miserable staff member tried to bully and scare us into taking out the extortionate extra insurance. We refused!
Car broke down mid holiday and we were left remotely for 4 hours roadside awaiting assist.
To top it all once back in UK received invoice for apparent damage to the car which comes via email and post persistently - dishonest ruse and we haven’t paid!
Beware of extra insurance cover
Beware, this company will fleece you for breakdown cover you already have paid for.
I collected a car from San Francisco Airport and was pressured into purchasing breakdown cover. I told him it was included in the insurance I added as an extra and he was adamant it wasn't. Basically said if I broke down in the desert I would be stranded for hours without cover.
So we paid $125 for it.
When I went on line, I was correct, I did have breakdown cover.
Really annoying the guy lied to us to get us to pay for breakdown cover we already had.
They are trying to charge me damages…
They are trying to charge me damages done by Alamo's tow truck after I gave back the car. They know it, admit it but invented rules not in the contract to try to make me pay and now threatening me of lawsuit without any legal base, they go against their own contract. Very bad.
Bad customer service
Bad customer service. We were told by 3 different agents via telephone the same information prior to booking rental and flight. When arriving a airport kiosk. The information was different and we could not rent a vehicle. Single parent stranded at the airport with 2 children with no place to go and return flight was a week away. What to do???
Excellent!
Excellent!
I have no idea why the reviews are low.
They are excellent in convenience and in price. They were clear in their instructions, honest and even upgraded me (I hired a 2 doors and they gave me a top-notch SUV).
They offer "full tank purchase" for a competitive price, so we don't need to worry about refuelling. Not to mention the friendly staff.
I searched a lot before picking them and I seriously recommend this company (others might be cheaper but it's not worthy it, go for alamo).
Cheers
Alamo Alleged Car Damage
On a recent holiday from Ireland to Canada we rented a car from Alamo in Vancouver. We had a pleasant holiday and the car worked really well. However on returning the car to Calgary Airport we were totally shocked to be informed that there was damage to the trunk. My husband, daughter and I could see no damage with the naked eye. The Alamo agent then produced an umbrella like device and alleged there was some dents on the trunk. We were not given any opportunity to use this device but the car was then quickly driven away. The agent then stated that it was unlikely we would hear anything further about this. Some time after returning to Ireland as you can imagine were really astonished to get correspondence from Alamo seeking $375 for the alleged damage. We replied with three e-mails to Alamo but did not receive any reply. Later we discovered the amount of $375 was withdrawn from our credit card. It ruined what was until then an enjoyable holiday in Canada.
We feel very disillusioned by Alamo and would certainly not rent a car from this company in the future.
Rental experience with Alamo was bad I…
Rental experience with Alamo was bad I was charged for two extra days. And it’s a hustle to get a refund.
Serious safety issue
The first two cars I was offered in the Bracelina Sants branch had dangerous cracks or deep dents in the tiers! Absolutly irresponsible policy. How do they dare give me a car to drive hundreds of kilometers like this and put my family in risk??
Appalling Customer Service
Horrendous experience from Alamo at Tampa International Airport. Booked an intermediate car but given a much smaller car because they did not have any available. Second car we were offered had a driving hazard of torn carpets on the driver's side and the third car was again too small for what we had booked and paid for. We were told by Michael at Alamo Customer Service to go to Sarasota Airport and that the manager would "take car of us". Got to SRQ and the managers simply said, "we cannot be responsible for all of Tampa's problems". No one wanted to help or listen to the difficulty we were having. Each person we spoke with just blamed each other and claimed there were no cars available. Angelique (supposedly a manager) at SRQ Alamo sat eating pizza, left us to stand in over 90 degree heat and could have cared less. Appalling service for such a large and well known company. We will never book with Alamo in the future and will be asking our friends and family to not use them either. Such a shame when the resolve could have been very easy and swift if someone had just cared.
Is a Dodge Charger same as a Mazda??????
Rented a Dodge Charger at Calgary Airport and they wanted to give me a Mazda. I paid a lot of money for 8 days and had a big discussion with one of the employees. At last i got a Jeep but I’m not happy with it.
Alamo Los Angeles Airport (LAX) was…
Alamo Los Angeles Airport (LAX) was very organised. Dropped off the car, got the receipt on email almost immediately and walked five metres to immediately board the airport shuttle. The shuttle driver took pains to ask for my airline and kindly reminded me where to drop off. He even helped me with my luggage after he saw me struggling. Awesome. Wished that I had gotten his name. Boarded the bus at 0930 hrs. Hope that Alamo commends him on his service.
Very friendly and fast
I rented a car for Alamo at YUL airport Montreal through the Orbitz website. The pickup was quick and the car in perfect condition. I extended the rental twice. The insurance that was purchase through Orbitz could not be extended and Alamo made it very simple and fast to add on their insurance for the extended period. The guys at the counter were super friendly and efficient.
Car hire disaster
Rented a car with Alamo through Doyouspain for pick up in Malaga at 10.30 on Oct 13th. On arrival informed that there was no car available and would not be until late that night. Total disaster for us. Promised a full refund through Doyouspain but this has not arrived despite repeated efforts due to failure of Alamo to confirm the non delivery of service to Doyouspain.
