Be VERY caucious with this company at San Francisco airport
I rented Alamo's car for the duration of my holiday of 3 weeks, while traveling around California. When I returned the car to the San Francisco airport, I forgot my iPhone in the car. The members of staff took over the car from me, but when I returned 15 minutes later to collect the forgotten phone it was not there anymore. When I enquired in the office, nobody handed it in. After coming back home and enquiring about it with numerous emails, I never received a reply from either Alamo office at San Francisco airport or lost property office. I will never use this company again and I will discourage anyone I know to use it, simply beacuse my enquieries were completely ignored and not dealt with, which makes me believe that this company is employing wrong people and supporting their actions. Absolute disgrace!
Returned car & was told no one was…
Returned car & was told no one was available to inspect car for damage. (Big window sticker clearly states vehicle will be inspected upon return) I asked for a inspection 3 times & said I was not comfortable leaving the car without an inspection. After being refused an inspection & then being ignored when I requested 2 more times, I went back out to the car (SUV) to take photos. A young cigarette smoking woman was standing near the car. I asked if she worked for Alamo, she replied yes. I asked her if she could inspect the car for damage, she looked around the car & said 'It's ok". During this time I snapped 4 photos; front, back & both side.
2 weeks later I receive a later from 'Pur Co' stating I had returned the car damaged & I may not even know that it was damaged... (Seriously?)
Wrong, I did not return the car damaged & I would have known if I had damaged the car.... now I cannot get a return call from Alamo.
What kind of scam is this?..
.About a week later I received a 'packet' from 'Pur Co' stating I caused damage to the roof. Unfortunately when I took photos I did not climb up on the SUV & take a photo of the roof.... I physically would not even be able to do this.
Dishonest company that will not return calls, just claims you've caused damage & sends a ridiculously high bill for 'damages'
NO BAD SURPRISES
I rented Alamo through "car rentals.COM" and the experience has been perfect. I got a Hunday Accent, very economic and reliable car. The staff at the airport in Vegas has been very helpful. the price that I paied was exactly the same that I'de been told, so NO SURPRISES! very satisfied
Keep away from Alamo in Argentina
Before I begin, let me clarify that the rental experience I now review was made in Argentina (El Calafate). But Alamo claims to be a worldwide Company and, therefore, should not allow regional operations like the one held by their franchisees in El Calafate, Argentina, to be their representatives. In summary: a real trap so that the Clients expend more than the combined rental amount, using lies and threats as a way to charge for extras. Renting defective cars and, then, mistreating Clients and charging unexisting extras to raise their profit margins. An excessive greed that does nothing more than harm Alamo's International image and brand. Keep away from Alamo in Argentina as they allow clumsy operations like the one at El Calafate to exist.
I hired a car (via agent Car Flexi) …
I hired a car (via agent Car Flexi) from Alamo Car Rentals at Calgary Airport YYC. When I ran into problems, they were excellent and the manager at the Calgary Airport branch went beyond the call of duty to resolve matters for me, and deserves a special mention on here. Well done that man!!
On Monday August 21st
On Monday August 21st, my wife and I flew from Toronto to Chattanooga TN. We had reserved a car from Alamo to be picked up at the airport. We're were planning to drive north, about an hour, to see the total eclipse. When we arrived at the airport, we discovered that Alamo ignored our reservation and had no cars. They had overbooked. No one else in the city had cars either. The folks at Hertz told us that Alamo overbooked horribly and left 40 people or so stranded. Our trip was ruined. The eclipse was an hour's drive away and there was no way to get there outside of a very expensive taxi ride there and back. The people at the Alamo desk were rude and unsympathetic -- they told us that lots of people were in the same position. They offered no compensation. They just wanted us to go away. We never left the airport -- we took the next flight home. Alamo cost us a $2000 trip. That was our experience with Alamo Car Rental.
