If I could give 0 stars, I would. They representative came to my home on 7/25. I thought he was with vivint, at the end I realized he was with a different company. They didn't install cameras, which vivint did on the day they spoke to me. I called today to cancel and they are going to charge me $1000 even though I don't have all of the equipment. I can't afford to pay that. They said the cameras got stolen so they would be back on Friday 7/28. The customer service is awful. I called on 8/8 was on the phone for an hour but they told me there wasn't a manager available so I would have to call back 8/9. Called on 8/9 and was on the phone for an hour. You only have 3 days to cancel or they will charge you a fee. This is crazy. Do not use this company!
I wish there was a zero star
If I could give a zero star, I would. In Dec 2022 my system quit working, my phone app quite working and my key fob quit working because it was broken inside. I called, called, called, and I was calling Edge. I had no clue they went out of business. No contact was ever made. I went about March and put a stop payment on my account for them. So all they kept calling for then was late payment. I talked to my senior something or another at Alder. I tried many, many times to contact Edge. I found out it was actually Edge/Alder. You would not believe how many times I tried to contact them and how many ways.. I had one year left on my contract. When the senior manager or something called me, I thought great. Come to find out he was only trying to sell me another system. This is the worse company I've ever dealt with in my life. I even looked up who owned Alder and emailed him to both personal and business emails. Nothing. One thing they taught me was to never in my life will I sign a contract with any alarm company. Go with Simpli Safe. The equipment is not fancy, but it works well. No contract. Zip. I finally got together enough to pay my contract off. And, get this, someone from Alder just called me, 3 August 2023, and they said something garbled and then asked me how my Alder system was working. I told him it sucked and for him to write that down. He asked if I got any help and I said Hell No and don't ever call me again.

I wish I could not give a star but I had to in order to write a review. So got this system for my new apartment, it started to have problems when I would come home the alarm would go off, it got really annoying. Then, I was thinking it was way too much to pay for monthly and decided I should cancel. Once I got the cancellation fee, it says “$3,131 FOR 60 MONTHS”. I have emailed and called to get my signed documents before I pay this crazy amount of money and they will NOT send them to me. I am very frustrated, and I highly recommend to anyone to not get this security company.

I didn't want to give a star,but you have to give a review.How do I get out of this mess?Has anyone else have luck going to small claims court? It has got to be illegal to refuse to give printed instructions on how to work this system.I never had a security system before,and want a Manuel.They have lied saying it was on the way.My alarm goes off,my door camera doesn't work,my smoke alarm goes off.For money,they will send someone out.Did anyone out there get instructions from the salesman? Old style con artists
Alder is like the con artists of last century. Deceptive pricing and hidden fees. They auto renew your contract unless you write to then 15 days before the contract cancels. That's right. It's 2023 and you need to WRITE the company. Plus you are locked into a 3 to 5 year contract. Stay away from these sharks.

I ordered a camera, control pad, motion sensor, 2 glass breakers and 6 window sensors about five weeks ago. Ever since I received the products, I have been experiencing issues. Every time I set it; it goes offline so there is no real security. It goes on and offline at least 3 times a day. Yes, it is annoying but at least when I am home, I can reset it. However, when it goes offline while I am away from the house, I am unable to reset it. It even said one time the front door was open, and it wasn’t, which caused a panic as I rushed home to a closed door. I am unable to protect my home and my biggest assets, my children, and grandchildren.
In the past five weeks, I have called every day and spoken with several representatives who are either incompetent or have been encouraged and trained to not take ownership of the issues and not provide resolutions. The representatives have lied and provided me with a “standard” script full of BS with no resolve. Even with the history of documented issues and complaints, Alder requests that I stay in this contract and pay for products and services that I am unable to use.
As I read the reviews, it is a reoccurring theme … basically, this company is a fraud and should not be allowed to sell any products and/or services. On every negative review listed, their response is even scripted “… call, text or email the compliance department”. Yet, even with doing this, there is no action taken on their part.
89 year old father duped into a devil's contract
My 89 year old father signed up for this service. It did not work well and we tried to cancel, but we have to either find a sucker like my dad to take over the service or pay over $1500.00 to cancel this sham service! Do not make any deals with these crooks!

Customer service is horrific. Took advantage of our elderly parents. Convinced them to sign a five year contract that renews automatically for another five years years. Extremely unhappy with Alder
If zero stars was an option I would have chosen that.
We gave in to pressure from an aggressive salesman who knocked on our door while we were still in the process of moving. It sounded like a good idea at first, but after a few weeks my wife and I decided we didn't want it, thinking we had 30 days to cancel. So I called in an cancelled and we sent our equipment back. That should have been the end of it.
This is 9 months later and they're still pulling out $50/month from our checking account. I finally got to a person that told me we had a 60 month contract, which is not the 24 months I thought we had.
So if they can keep you in their system for more than 3 days, the fine print in their contract says they can legally keep charging you for 5 years, even if you sent the equipment back on day 4.
I had to talk to several people from Alder in the process of cancelling, and they offered to change our monthly rate from $50/month to $10/month and even offered to add a camera trying to get me to change my mind. I had to keep telling them we do not want the service and finally they cancelled my account... but not really. They don't tell you that in the background they're still charging you for services that are not being delivered nor are they wanted.
Alder has made me even more skeptical of "security" companies. Stay away from them.

If I could give this company 0 stars I absolutely would. I discourage anyone and everyone to use literally any other security company. My boyfriend and I started this service about 10 months ago. The first mother board we received didn’t work at all and we were told there was nothing they could do about it so we had to wait for a new one. It took a month for the second mother board to arrive. Once we finally got everything set up, it worked for all of 3-4 months before our door sensor went faulty. The sensor triggered the alarm system in the middle of the night. My boyfriend and I woke up terrified thinking someone broke in. Alder called us and the person on the other end was rude despite the fact that this might’ve been an emergency situation. Come to find out, the door never had been touched and the sensor was just faulty. We immediately called Alder asking for new sensors and they insisted that we had to pay for new sensors even though this is THEIR screw up. That was almost FOUR months ago and we’ve been charged for a service we cannot use since then. We still haven’t received these sensors. We just tried to call to sort this out and the woman we spoke with on the phone, Rose, insisted that all they can do is credit us $12 for the door sensors but they would not credit us for the months of service we paid for but weren’t able to use. She claimed that they’re waiting for a tracking number for the sensors, HOW do they not have the tracking number if it’s been 4 months ?!!! She stated the only thing we could do is buy out a 5 year contract or basically deal with it and keep paying. This company is a SCAM! We’ve been lying for it for 10 months with only 3-4 of those being secured in our home. What these people are doing is disgusting and wrong.

For at least 6 mo my system has gone off at least once or twice a week for no reason at all. I would call the comany and they kept telling me that they would send a service tech to check it out. Suprise no one came - no one called.

The customer service sucks!!! They tell you your out door cameras are life time warranty I have had two cameras leak and fill up with water!! The girl lied to me and said they “should” be sending new one it’s been three weeks still no new cameras!! Now I have to call and wait on hold for literally an hour before I can talk to a human that I can’t even understand what they are saying! CRAP!
The worst customer service
On 9/15/22 my back door was opened and 1 minute later the alarm activated. I was across the country and pulled up my camera system to make sure kids had turned lights off and heard my alarm sounding. It had been going off for over 4 minutes. I disarmed it from my app and checked cameras. I was not contacted nor was law enforcement. I have made 3 phone calls totaling nearly 2 hours with customer service and tech support. I have been told it's a faulty door sensor, faulty control panel, poor internet connection, and my kids' error in setting the alarm. I never complained about the equipment, my only question to them was why my alarm went off for over 4 minutes and no one was notified. They stated it has to sound for 5-10 minutes before anyone is called. Seriously?!? My alarm was activated in the past due and I know for fact that I was called within 2 minutes and law enforcement was called immediately after when I was unable to be reached. Do they realize the amount of damage/harm an intruder can do in 5-10 minutes? This is completely unacceptable. They offered little apology and no resolution to this problem. I used to feel safer with an alarm system but Alder and their lack of concern and blame game has definitely changed my mind.

In the summer of 2020 Alexis Bento knocked on my door. She was an Alder sales resentative. She asked me if I wanted to take advantage of the promotional offer that Alder was undergoing and get a security system. At the time I was a single mom with two teen girls and a special needs brother, & on tight budget but she reminded me that you couldn't put a price tag on security, that it was an investment in my family. She said the price was only going to be $25 a month and although it was a 2-year contract if I had to cancel I could. I let her sign me up but the following month when I received my statement from Alder I noticed it was $50 instead of the $25 price I was given. I called and complained about it and they told me that there was nothing that they could do. I was upset by this point and felt taken advantage of but I was in a contact for 2 years and was told I'd have to pay a hefty sum to get out. I didn't have the money at the time. The one time that my home was broken into & neededAlder security they were offline so I asked if they could send someone out to fix my camera they said it would cost me a$50. I knew I would no longer be using them so I just let that go but was ready for my contract to be up. I called today because it has been over 2 years and they told me that I was in a contract for 60 months. I was bewildered to find this out I did not sign anything to be in a contract and when I asked to speak to someone they connected me to two other Representatives before letting me speak to an agent who said that after reviewing the recorded line in July of 2020 of a survey that they taken that during the survey they had mentioned that & that I should of knew it was a 60-month contract. I don't want Alder or agreeing to that and if they called me I was most likely in the middle of something but I never agreed or signed anything. I had neighbors who were there when I was told it was a 2 year contract. They are a scam and continue to fraud the vunerable. This company deserves no stars.
