APOLLO is making insurance effortless for individuals and small businesses. As one of Canada’s leading InsurTechs, we deliver a people-first buying experience through time-saving technology and a deep understanding of the communities we serve. Our customers can buy online in minutes, and receive their policy documents instantly. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with remote employees nationwide, APOLLO was co-founded in 2018 by CEO, Jeff McCann, and VP of Marketing & PR, David Dyck in response to what they saw as a troubling issue. The insurance industry had not caught up to the digital age. In fact, it was well behind. Their vision was simple, yet groundbreaking: to provide brokers easier access to insurance products by integrating technology into the supply chain. Not long after, in April of 2019, APOLLO launched our proprietary technology – the Exchange – offering a portal for insurance brokers to quote, bind, and transact Canada’s largest selection of online insurance products. Since then, APOLLO has added to our online distribution model through embedded partnerships and our own in-house agency arm, allowing us to capitalize on the scalability of digitized insurance products. Today, APOLLO is now one of Canada’s leading online insurance providers and winner of 16 awards, including Digital Innovator of the Year.

Signed up with Apollo Insurance in…Avoid Apollo Insurance – misleading cancellation fees

Signed up with Apollo Insurance in Canada for a one-month policy. Nowhere during sign-up was it clearly stated that I’d be hit with a premium fee just for cancelling early — especially when the plan was meant to be short-term. It feels shady and dishonest.
This kind of vague small-print nonsense is exactly what gives insurance a bad name. I’m warning others: read everything twice or better yet, avoid this company altogether.
Goodbye Canada — and your sneaky policies

Totally Dissatisfied

I filed a claim against one of your insured drivers and submitted what was asked of me. I can't get anyone on the phone; I was given the wrong email address and one phone # (844)394-5805 ring once and hang up. I keep calling this other number (650)215-5489 and no one has returned my call.

Apollo Insurance

I received a marketing advert from Apollo. They scheduled a formal appointment and were late. When the young insurance broker called he asked questions like how much I was paying and how much I want to pay. The company advertises “best rate” plans but just takes your personal info and shotguns it to the marketplace. They don’t give you prices or coverages. They just try to close the deal. Not for me!!

Insurance policy initiated for my…

Insurance policy initiated for my daughter without any communication to her. Attempted to get it cancelled as we had rental insurance already. Company refused to do it and made us go back to the landlord to process. Questionable practice and turning it around on the consumer as the one to resolve is unprofessional. Will be filing a complaint with FSRA of Ontario.

Brutal Customer Experience -- Like it's 2006

My tenants insurance was cancelled over a $63.26 balance (due to CC being fraudulently used and therefore cancelled) — with next to no communication from Apollo. I didn’t even know there was an issue until I got a generic “your policy has been cancelled” email, which I tried to reply to — only to find out it was a no-reply address. No clear instructions, no link to pay, and no option to resolve it online.

By the time I got in touch (which was its own frustrating loop of bot interactions), I was told the payment had already been sent to collections. Over sixty bucks.

I asked to pay Apollo directly — was told that wasn’t possible anymore. Despite what their bot initially said, I had to call a separate third-party collections agency and pay over the phone like it’s 2006.

What’s worse: I never received a single reminder about the missed payments, failed payment attempts, or impending cancellation. No human follow-up. Nothing.

A completely preventable issue, made worse by poor communication and a terrible user experience.

Avoid.

They are just OK

I had a policy for 1 year, prices are good but coverage is not much, no hidden fees, for real. I don't know what these people are talking about for hidden fees and penalties. I have never gotten a penalty and it's actually hard for me to pay them. They keep not charging my card and then emailing me that I need to update my payment. I had to update my payment every month, sometimes I was 3 weeks late paying and I never seen any penalty charges. However the coverage is very bad for the price. I'd like to add I did call them once and they answered very quickly and answered my questions. I know 90% of these reviews were paid for by Apollo but I don't think it is as bad as what people are saying.

AVOID

AVOID. this company hides info and adds hidden fees that are not disclosed when applying for coverage. They only make this info available AFTER you pay and are locked in, and do they do not provide customer service support to help you. Kim and Saskhi particularly dismissive, rude, and not helpful in any way. AVOID this insurance company or you WILL get screwed over.

Apollo Is Complete Garbage

Do not use this scum company. Apollo Insurance is nothing but a money grab. They make it very difficult to cancel your policy. They have expensive cancellation fees. When you try to cancel on the date you choose, you get an error message. I tried to cancel before my policy was active, and they would not let me, forcing me to choose a different date, so these scammers can get more money from me. Apollo is complete scum.

Shady policies will quote you on the…

Shady policies will quote you on the fine print. Their employees exhibit the least empathy you'll come across, will fight you as if you're in a battlefield to prove that they're right. Referred 3 friends, was a return customer and ended up telling all my close friends to never use Apollo. Never ever trust an insurance company that seems so good and does an excellent job at advertising but falters at the execution level.

Also the underwriting company itself is a pain too. For 15 days of coverage got charged for 3 months of charges. NEVER EVER USE Apollo

Affordable Insurance with Excellent Communication, but Ineffective When Needed

I recently had an experience with Apollo Insurance that I feel compelled to share. On the positive side, the insurance was quite affordable compared to others in the market, and the communication with their representatives was consistently pleasant and professional.

However, when it came to actually needing the insurance due to the theft of my bicycle, the policy proved to be ineffective. Despite having coverage, the deductible was set at the same amount as the value of my claim, rendering the policy essentially useless in my situation.

While I had hoped for some financial assistance in the event of such an unfortunate incident, the reality was that the policy offered no relief. This experience has led me to the conclusion that, although the upfront costs are low and the service is friendly, the practical benefits of this insurance are questionable. Therefore, I cannot recommend Apollo Insurance based on my personal experience, as the policy did not provide the coverage I expected when I needed it most.

Terrible Liability Claim experience

Hope you never are in an accident with someone with this insurance. I had someone re-end me in morning commute traffic. I filed claim and almost immediately got an email about not paying for any storage facility if the vehicle was towed. I was able to drive mine so it was not an issue, but it should have been my first clue they were going to be a pain.
on
Someone finally called and I gave them my statement about the accident then never heard anything for two weeks. I finally called back about the status (no one ever answers) and when they finally called back they were still trying to decide liability.

He re-ended me but was still trying to decide on liability? Said they were waiting on police to upload some video supposedly. Finally after almost a month they finally admitted liability and after uploading numerous photos from all angles they requested they made an assessment to total the vehicle.

Then came the next problem. For totaling the vehicle, they found 10 cars to assess for determining the "market value" of my vehicle. Of the 10 only 2 were same model/trim level. For the other 8 were all lower trim levels with different engine. Mine is turbo charged, with nearly a 3k price difference new and always priced a couple thousand higher used. However, for there comparison only adjusted $600 for the 8. Additionally, most of the ones they found are at your small mom pop dealerships and they deduct $875 for "difference between private party and retail" saying that a reseller spend money to "recondition" vehicles for sale. I'll by this maybe if it's a big dealership with a maintenance shop etc, but I've bought many a car from these small dealers and you're lucky if they even wash/vacuum most of the time. I refused the offer had to give them a big write up about all this.

They came up about $500 but still not to what I consider a fair value. I finally just gave up after about 6 weeks and took the money to just be done with them.

Additionally, they never provided any time of rental for me to use, nor paid for any kind of lose of use of vehicle for the 6w or so it took they to determine liability and settle. This company is not about doing the right thing, they are about stalling and delaying until you get tired and give up for minimum they can pay.

Bottom line if you're in an accident with someone that has this insurance company, just find yourself a lawyer day one and let them handle and deal with them.

Do not do business with this company

Do not do business with this company. They will increase you Rate EVERY 6 months. They have lousy customer service. They suck as a company. They will continue to go up when it’s time to renew. They lose so many people - they have to go up to keep them in business. NEVER AGAIN - Definitely switching to another company - and we will not renew.

Would not recommend this insurance…

Would not recommend this insurance company, their insurance is cheap for a reason. We had a dreadful experience with this company and their underwriters Lloyds of London. Do yourself a favour and read all the small print in their polices, and the dreadful Lloyds insurance Toronto Canada reviews. 1.8 stars from a possible 5 stars. If you visit Apollo insurance reviews on there own website, it doesn't allow any additional reviews, I've tried to give a 1 star review unfortunately it won't allow me to. $11 dollars for Tennant insurance? other insurance companies are asking $30 per month, there is a reason for this. Do your due diligence before buying insurance from any company.
