Stunning fish

Bought 43 fish. They are all lively colourful stunning fish. Unfortunately my cat fish arrived dead an Aquatropics were very quick to deal with the issue could not fault them at all. Was abit sceptic about the fish been posted but for only 1 to pass out of 43 in a heat wave I'm truly surprised. Will definitely be buying again. Thanks so much

Royal mail shipping for live fish

Aquatropics wanted to deliver a £280 live fish order with royal mail in 33'c weather. Royal mail don't have the equipment or licence to transport live fish. It's illegal!

Original order was on the 26/6 for delivery on 8/7, I took the 8/7 as holiday so I would be home for the delivery, I even told them I had booked off 8/7. On 7/7 I chased it up because no contact or information about the delivery, they said it was being delivered Thursday, I didn't have a option to change my time off as it was last minute.
I rearranged delivery for Saturday, not great but it was what it was. I checked which delivery company was transporting my fish and was told royal mail by Andy. I refused royal mail because they are not suitable for fish delivery, it's also 30+'c Friday and Saturday and I didn't want to abuse animals and receive a box of dead fish, not into that.
My order was cancelled today not at my request, not happy about the situation, I was excited I'm now just annoyed, I've wasted a days holiday due to non existent communication. If you told me Monday or Tuesday morning I could probably of done something but when I knew what was happening it was too late.

I ordered 5 Santa isabel angelfish

I ordered 5 Santa isabel angelfish, received 6, started exploring the tank within 5 minutes of being introduced to the tank. Healthy and eating well. Delayed my delivery upon request as there would have been no one home on the original delivery date.
I couldn't be happier.

I had very happy experience working with Aquatropics. I enjoyed chatting with their customer service and they have answered all of my questions patiently. I always buy my fish online and I can tell this store is one of my favourite. I hope they can expand their inventory for more sizes and variant.

Please don’t waste your money on…

Please don’t waste your money on purchasing fish from this company. I spent £251. On fish from this company. firstly fish were missing from the order, secondly many of the fish arrived dead when the order arrived it was by dpd the box was dumped on its side with no care of the contents. when opening the box there was no heat pads the fish were not in a good condition but what could I do I couldn’t send them back so I put them with my other fish in my tank. After a couple of days what was an order of 35 fish I had only 7 left. Also please be aware that the fish you will receive are so tiny you can barely see any markings on them £8 for a fish that is no bigger than a granual of fish food it’s totally ridiculous I am really upset that the poor fish did not survive and also that they refuse to refund for all the dead fish please do not waste your money go to a aquarist shop avoid the experience I’ve had

I would like to clarify a few points in your response to my review. Firstly when ordering fish from your site the only information the customer has is the photo of a fish and a brief description so I placed an order £80 for 10 killifish that looked just what I wanted I actually received a bag of what I’d like to describe as fish so small you couldn’t actually make out what type of fish they were. They were no bigger than a granule of fish food if I’d have known they were going to be that small I wouldn’t have ordered them no where on the information on the site does it tell you what size fish you will receive therefore this is blatantly false advertising and taking money from people under false pretences the goods/fish you receive are not what is advertised. Also regarding the pearl danios 50% of the fish received were dead on arrival, also a killifish from another bag was missing it was supposed to contain a pair there’s was a single fish in the bag. Another point you made you stated you partially refunded me as a good will gesture I’m afraid it is your legal responsibility to refund goods/fish not being received, receiving dead fish and also remaining fish arriving in such a poor condition that there was no chance of survival. And the last point I would like to respond to is the inadequate packaging of the fish. I don’t have full knowledge of your packaging procedures but I presume the fish are bagged Monday or even best Tuesday morning then they are collected by any old courier company not one that specialises in fish transportation, then left overnight to be delivered next day my delivery was 1.30 Wednesday afternoon therefore fish are bagged for 24/48 hours without a heat source and you state it was warmest time of year and didn’t require heat bag i’m sorry but evenings in June are very cold and these are tropical fish which do require a certain constant temperature, and in my opinion they are not adequately packaged for delivery. I think I’ve addressed everything in your reply and I am still awaiting a full refund for fish I don’t have as a result of your company’s neglect poor service and false advertising. I will be taking legal advice

Reply from Aquatropics London

We are sorry to hear that Jacqueline was disappointed with her experience. However, we feel it is important to clarify several points for anyone reading this review.

When Jacqueline initially contacted us, the photographs provided showed only a small number of Celestial Pearl Danios affected on arrival. The images supplied actually showed the Killifish alive, and no evidence was provided showing the Clown Killifish, Albino Killifish, Lyretail Killifish or Pufferfish as deceased on arrival.

Despite this, as a gesture of goodwill and to resolve the matter amicably, we issued a refund significantly greater than the value of the losses that could be verified from the evidence provided.

The comments regarding fish size are also misleading. Species such as Clown Killifish and Celestial Pearl Danios are naturally very small fish, even as adults. Clown Killifish typically reach only around 3–4 cm at full size, and younger specimens are intentionally supplied as juveniles because they adapt better to new aquariums and have a longer lifespan ahead of them.

The suggestion that heat packs were omitted due to negligence is incorrect. This order was delivered during one of the warmest periods of the year. Adding heat packs in such temperatures would have increased the risk of overheating and could have endangered the livestock. Heat packs are only used when weather conditions require them.

We care deeply about fish welfare and package thousands of fish safely every year. While we fully respect every customer’s right to leave a review, we believe this review does not accurately reflect the evidence provided, the goodwill refund offered, or the efforts made to resolve the matter fairly.

We wish Jacqueline all the best and thank all our customers for taking the time to read both sides before forming their own opinion.
