Disappointed

Although the hotel and the grounds are beautiful, sadly, the staff let it down. They are very very rude, unhelpful and unwelcoming. The resort is lovely, the food is as you would expect, but flies everywhere as nothing is covered. Be prepared to dine with birds and cats. The alcohol isn't great and the service is very slow. The room was basic, but clean but only one plug socket and for that we had to unplug the fridge. Sadly this hotel needs a massive overhaul of rude and abrupt reception staff.

We visit the Dar Atlas valeria resort…

Dar Atlas valeria resort of Morocco Marrakech the currency is Diram. You can not get decaffeinated tea or coffee anywhere in this hotel, There’s one bar open in evening which always has long cues, the snack bar is not good its a limited amount of bread ham n cheese, they dont have fresh fruit but cucumber, carrot, beetroot juice only at breakfast time, its then fizy drinks kids slushy drinks are charged for along with other branded alcohol but their alcohol is free which is not as good. our stay was the beginning of May it is very hot, this hotel is located 20 minutes away from everything there is no beach but the pools are big and they also have a nother pool in a quieter area where it is called relaxing pool near the tennis court and huge pond with a fountain with freindly ducks and wild birds there's a lot of hotel rooms the locals speak French and Arabic a bit of English the tall chef speaks good English Mustapha he is very helpful and polite always willing to help they play a lot of loud music at the main pool I had to ask if they would be kind enough to play a little English music as for 5 days it was loud Arabic and French music none of which were familiar and not enjoyable so today they are playing a bit of English music but the taste is somewhat of putting unless you like the Crazy frog and sound of old poor party songs with artists who don't pocess a good vocal voice and cover songs, they don't have tea & coffees facilities in rooms not even fresh drinking water the rooms are very basic you can get bottles of water freely but you ask for it they leave bottles on the tables when its meal times but having said that these are only left for the first party of guests as they do not replace bottles of water unless you ask for them and its the same with the serviettes and cutlery its all there when they first open the restaurants but after the first lot of guests have eaten the later you go to eat you will need to search for cutlery serviettes and water this is because they do not have enough staff to cater for the amount of guests coming and going it can be tiring getting up n down looking for the essentials and again as its buffet style your getting up n down choosing your food, ques can be a bit long , the food is good there is always a good choice of meat n fish pasta salad great choice of fresh breads, I would say that some of the food is bland and a bit tasteless but this is probably due to the enormous amount the chefs have to keep up. Some rooms are a bit of a walk away from the main restaurants and pools, there's hundreds of rooms the land in which the hotel is are very pretty and well kept very clean everywhere there is a regular mini bus which will take you to the local areas like Medina which is cheap there is a huge market of anything you want to buy the leather is of superb quality, they sell lots of fake clothes bags n shoes and you need to haggle as they will try hard to get an unfair price from you. There is also an animal concern of monkeys being horrible used to earn them money its very very sad to see these poor animals with chains round there necks one was a baby monkey it jumped up to its owner for effection and he pushed it to the floor which really upset me the fact that they don't care for animals like we do is something that made me cry as we walked round we see lines of horses and carts all lined up standing in the baking sun not in any shade at all it was 37 degrees and a lot of these horses where so skinny you could see there ribs. There is also this constant loud snake charming music being played with the snakes held in baskets until someone pays them to come out, all these animals are paraded around the market square all day long into the evening, the mini bus does not drop of near enough to the medina market square I would say its a good 15 minute walk maybe longer one couple said they had to get a taxi after the bus to get them to the centre of medina, its about15 or more minutes walk to the bus pick up which you could easily forget where it is, there are a few not many lovely stray dogs n cats which is upsetting because you can see some are so skinny they smell the food and look so sad n hungry they don't pester anyone they are very placid dogs and cats there is so much food being wasted at meal times I ask if they can give some to the dogs n cats it's clear to see they don't from their visible bones on show, I urge the management to set up a plan to help these animals, I find the Moroccan people very friendly and helpful, just please help thoes helpless cats n dogs because they have nothing outside of the hotels it's just barran Land if they could talk with officials and set up an animal welfare plan as there's lots of country's that have a rescue centre In place like Romania I know lots of people who have bought dogs from Romania to the UK. If it wasn't for the animals welfare concern this place would be an amazing place to be !!!
