Authy removed desktop support
Authy removed desktop support. No way to export codes to migrate to another provider. STAY AWAY.
Twilio Authy removed most of my devices with no warning
This morning Authy abruptly removed my Twilio Authy cloud-sync'd account from all of my Windows devices (yes, I know, they've been working to deprecate the Windows app for some time, but this came with no warning) AND from my secondary Android device ("this device does not meet the minimum integrity requirements" - that's *my* f***ing call to make, Twilio, not yours!), so I'm down to ONE SINGLE Android device as my sole 2FA token generator. With no warning. Completely unacceptable.
Update: I've communicated with Authy support. They "don't see" the "minimum integrity requirements" error in their logs. (Well, I've sent them screenshots. It happened.) They're either unaware at the first level of support of what's really going on, or lying to the customer, or they've built their software with operations-disrupting failure modes that should put them out of business.
I just learned Authy got hacked in 2022 with scam tactics used on senile elderly? Works until it doesn’t and never works again, claimed I installed passwords I never did
UPDATE, MANY COMPLAINTS LATER: The staff sent me a long Q&A asking about purchases to "prove my identity." I said I have no purchases. Corporate leadership ignores me. Definitely had the right e-mail addresses for them. What does this tell you? This company is all around BAD. Customer service does not exist to them. AVOID! All of you should Google the phrases 2022 Authy hacked because their employees are so dumb, they let your data out because they fell for scams no normal tech employees would! Did they not verify the domain names and "Twilio" links before hand? I expect this from the standard senile elderly in scam articles!
"Current and former employees received phishing text messages that looked almost picture perfect, claiming to be from Twilio’s IT department and informing them that they need to reset their passwords because they are expired. An included link then led to a fake login page that looked almost exactly like Twilio’s real deal. It looks like at least one person fell for the phishing attack, as hackers managed to gain access to Twilio’s internal systems with someone’s stolen credentials."
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Authy one day quit syncing my logins across multiple devices. It said I had set passwords, however you phrased them, on my individual devices. I never did. “Encrypted” devices all displayed locks for me to unlock the password. One, ONE, device of mine didn’t show it.
My inner bad feeling told me I needed to resolve this or be locked out of my accounts forever. Any of the handful of times I have asked Authy for customer support, their team doesn’t understand English well and spits out answers unrelated to what I’m saying. The person I finally get in touch with who does understand English treats me like I am an idiot. They all, understanding your need or not, point you to web links on their help site area. I already read that. Why do you think I contacted you?
This app will turn on you. It probably locks out thousands of people from their accounts regularly. No one else logged into my Authy. One day, my single working device would have gone the way of saying I installed an encrypted option, here unlock with a password you never created, and I would have been locked out.
SMS two factor is “insecure” but works. I returned to SMS on my devices.
Good luck having Authy delete your data. They delete your account data on their side only. Any help tickets you opened up creating an account on the Twilio website, their parent company, make it impossible for you without clicking lots of things, starting more help tickets, filling out forms and waiting periods.
Then I learned that Authy was hacked in recent times. Good news, a security app company helping you with your logins had all its customer data opened up to bad people! They can’t protect themselves, what makes you think they can protect your two factor?
Don’t use these people.
Authy didn't back up half of my logins
Authy didn't back up half of my logins. I am now locked out of several accounts. I logged in daily. Absolute garbage authenticator. And, nothing I can do about it. Fabulous job guys. Authy is a failure and so are the creators. How are you going to screw people over like this? Doesn't back up when it should or when it's told to. Horrible.
Useless trying to change an old phone…
Useless trying to change an old phone number to gain access to my twitch account but yet they ask me for my old number I don't have it and I don't know it hence why I'm trying to change the stupid thing no help or guidance
dont get locked out of your account
its a horrible app, when i try and change my number, i dont get a verification sms nor calls, so its impossible (because they banned my country for being fraud or something)
and when i contact support i get told to manually request a phone number change which can take 4-5 business days, which i did, TWICE, and they denied me everytime...
So unless you wanna get locked up from your accounts that u set up with authy and authy itself, than dont get it
Ending PC support is scummy as can be
Ending PC support is scummy as can be. I used Authy originally because I do not want to get my phone out every time I log into an account... It also doesn't have an export feature so it's a hell of a job to change over probably 20-30 accounts...
Authy has several GREAT characteristics
Authy has several characteristics that make it superior to Google Authenticator and even Microsoft Authenticator.
(1) It's ubiquitous adoption with applications/websites. Many websites describe how to turn on 2FA with GA, but Authy always works.
(2) You can install it on many devices to reduce single point of failure. Unfortunately, Twilio will not be supporting their Auth desktop version, but you can install an Android simulator on your Windows machine and you are back in business without have to solely rely on your phone app.
(3) It is very intuitive to setup and use. I like the differentiated colours. Like the convenience of list view and grid view.
(4) Security, I am fussy that each time I use Authy I need to enter a PIN. I can backup/restore Authy using a password and everything is in sync.
Just an excellent product.

Authy is the face of your impending enslavement. It's an app on your own device (e.g. windows machine) that you can't screen snip or screenshot (go ahead try it, you cannot), demonstrating that we have already entered the phase in which you don't even control your own computer. And instead of providing an alternative to cell phone verification, you must use a cell phone to use Authy. So it provides no value and only enables the surveillance grid to track you more effectively across more devices. I'm sure that the psychopaths of society like Nikki (Nimrata) Haley love this sort of technology so they can make sure all dissidents are identified and punished, we should resist it.
Doesn't allow data portability
Doesn't allow data portability, self cloud hosting, is not open source. I deleted my account and switched to Aegis and 2FAS. Migration requires technical skills, since export is no possible from Authy. Account deletion process is not smooth. Their SMS's don't get delivered to some countries.

After having horrible experiences with Google Authenticator (like losing all my codes due to phone breaking), I found that Authy works in the cloud. Love it

This has already happened twice. I lost the access to all of my tokens (including important work ones).
Authy is the best way to lock you out…
Authy is the best way to lock you out from ALL your accounts in a minute. Then you are REALLY LOST. Thanks
Wanna know what happened?
So, my phone got replaced (I made a backup btw.)
The Authy backup never worked
Somewhen I gave up, luckily I was able to log in from my old phone 1 last time and TURN OFF 2-fact-auth ..otherwise my access to all my web-domains would have been gone.
Authy never worked again.
I tried half a year later, thought I am going to install it again..but eeeeh, password to my backup does not work.
Erased the APP, tried to install again.
Eeeeh, they blocked my device for "multipel device"
WHAT A §$&%$§" is that APP
It is the best way to lock you out from everything. Once your phone is gone you are in hell.
Now they say they will wait 24 hours to review my account and phone.
They say I can re-set my password, but there is no link to do so.
They give you a ERROR message in the APP, but its 12 lines written text and they show you the error message exaclt for 1/2 a second. GREEEEAAAAT I CAN NOT FUKCING READ IT IN HALF A SECOND, THERE IS a URL I NEED TO WRITE DOWN.
What a useless crap
Don't listen to any positive reviews
Don't listen to any positive reviews, they have never had to deal with customer support.
Authy's customer support is a maze of redirections within their FAQs, even the chat bot will attempt to redirect you to different topics at least five times before finally allowing you to send a message to their support service.
If you don't change your phone, or number, or PC, then i am sure Authy works fine, but one hiccup and the app is busted, your account locked, and no one from Authy will actually be in touch with you, just auto replies and FAQs.
Best find another service.
Lock-in
The mobile app itself is fine, but it locks you in which is unacceptable, and the desktop app is very bad

I've never had to use their customer service, but their product is excellent and free.

I think Authy is ten times better than Google authentificator at least you can with your mobile number export all your 2fa codes in another phone you just need to remember back up code and voilà:)
Authy was corrupted during migration to…
Authy was corrupted during migration to a new phone. I lost the backup password(s). There is no way to get access to an Authy account without a backup password. You then lose access to all accounts linked to Authy MFA and 2FA codes. I have had to create new accounts with every app that used Authy. You will lose all control of your accounts and associated data if you use Authy. Support is almost non-existent. There is a lapse of 2 - 4 days between emails. Only business users get support. BEWARE.

Opened a ticket regarding I've been locked out of my account, never received a response in a week and just got a notification my ticket will be closed as their first response to me. What? They didn't even bother to help. Will migrate my accounts elsewhere.
