My experience was the same as last year, a very simplified box ticking exercise with all the right options available. I have a medical issue which was very easily dealt with and covered as part of my policy.

Some people on the phone help were very helpful, others not so much.
Online chats were slow to answer and reply, but quite helpful.
Product seems good, but call centre definately helps with getting a quote.
Very easy to add travel insurance
Very easy to add travel insurance. I added medical insurance but the PDF of this did not arrive in my inbox.
WARNING
WARNING. This is only a distributor for poor quality insurers. Claims are handled by the 'claims settlements agencies'/Gallagher Bassett umbrella:
See the "csal.co.uk" or Gallagher Bassett Truspilot for an idea of how claims will be dealt with!! (It's not good, verging on scam/illegal/immoral imo)
Also, look at these reviews, all positive ones are related to getting favourable rates/good service when taking out a policy - not actually claiming! If you look at the reviews related to actually claiming (which is what you are paying for!! You'll have a better idea of the service)

Incredibly easy to deal with and perfect policy for our needs (we are on a one way trip and lots of other insurers didn’t offer cover)
They honoured the quote from before thank you
Great company, they also for over a month honoured the previous cheaper quote thank you
Excellent experience
When our travel insurance expired as we arrived in Australia, it was difficult to find new coverage since we're in our 60s, plan to visit New Zealand, the USA, and Canada, and won't return to England until late 2026. We eventually found Big Cat, whose website was easy to use and response to an email enquiry was immediate. However, although the quote was supposed to be valid for seven days, when I purchased the insurance after two days, the price had increased by £200, maybe I missed something in the small print! However, we are glad we have the comfort of being insured.

Thanks again for the lay out of the online purchase.

Good clear website and helpful advice on the phone. In order to declare a health condition i had to talk to a 3rd party for a quote. Although that was a little cumbersome and expensive the process was fine
Cost effective, but claiming a real pain..
**Update Two; one of the directors (Chris) contacted me directly and managed to move the process along and our claim was eventually paid. Insurance companies don’t make money by paying out so a bit of a battle was expected but it seems to be the policy underwriters that were causing the delays and repetitions. Overall I’m pretty happy, they were significantly cheaper and everyone from big cat I dealt with were very helpful.
**Update; unfortunately we had to make a claim for a helicopter extraction from Kilimanjaro in August due to severe altitude sickness. They are dragging their heels and asking for further reports from the patients GP which aren’t relevant as they had no underlying conditions that the claimant was aware of.
If buying cover for anything more than a standard holiday I’d opt for a more expensive but more reputable option as these guys are cheap but clearly not used to dealing with such issues. We’ve also asked our tour operator Altezza to stop recommending them due to the poor service we’re experiencing.**
Pleased so far, I called the helpline and the agent I spoke to was friendly and knowledgeable (Chris or Craig), no sales tactics at all. Very happy with the price for our Kilimanjaro climb, quite a bit cheaper than some of the options we looked at.
I’ll update if I need to make a claim but hopefully not!
