Appalling experience

Appalling experience. I purchased a premium BMC ALR (€3,600 RRP), which arrived with paint defects and improperly bled brakes—clear signs of neglected pre-delivery inspection.

After only 16,000km, the rear wheel suffered a catastrophic structural failure (8 nipple-hole cracks). Bike24’s official assessment was that the factory wheels were intended only for "occasional use," despite being sold on a professional racing frame—a claim refuted by BMC.

Their "goodwill" was a €55 discount on a €770 wheelset that lacked standard tubeless valves, effectively nullifying the offer. When I challenged this misleading marketing of a "race machine" fitted with "occasional" wheels, I was met with condescension and "lessons about eternity."

Bike24 moves volume but lacks technical integrity and accountability.

As explained in our previous email, many bicycles are equipped with basic OEM wheels intended for occasional recreational use. A distance of 16,000 km within two years represents a high level of usage that exceeds this intended use.

As the warranty period has already expired, we have offered you a 5% discount on a new wheelset as a gesture of goodwill. Please provide us with your order number when placing a new order so that we can apply the discount and refund the price difference accordingly.

We hope this represents a fair and appropriate solution.

Deliberate misrepresentation & refusal to refund for a lost parcel

Bike24 is deliberately misrepresenting facts and refusing to refund for a parcel that was never delivered.

The order was not delivered within 30 days, which already gives me the legal right to terminate the contract and receive a full refund under EU consumer law. Instead of complying, Bike24 chose to deny reality.

DPD, under the supervision of the postal ombudsman, confirmed that the parcel was NOT delivered and is most likely LOST. Here is their official statement:

“On the request from the ombudsman, I checked your complain.

This parcel had a first scan via de shop on 17/02 “PUDO - Parcel collected by the consignee” this was a mistake, because the same day the shop give it back to the driver.

It was last scan by the delivery depot on 18/02 and never went back to the sender.

It seems the parcel has been lost.

DPD Belux transmitted this to the carrier (DPD Germany) from sender Bike24 on 24/02, so strange that Bike24 doesn’ want to refund you.

This is the second time I have such a case from the same sender, this is not correct from his part.

If you don’t have received your order they have to refund you.
DPD Belux will reimburse the sender via their carrier DPD Germany.

I put Bike24 in cc in de hope they will do the necessary.

Sorry for the disagreement.”

Bike24 was copied into this communication. They KNOW the parcel was not delivered. They KNOW it is lost.

Yet they continue to:

• claim the parcel was “delivered” without valid proof
• ignore official carrier confirmation
• refuse to refund
• misrepresent the situation in the chargeback process

This is not a mistake — this is a conscious decision to shift financial loss onto the customer.

Even worse, DPD explicitly confirmed that the sender (Bike24) will be reimbursed by the carrier. In other words, Bike24 risks nothing financially, yet still refuses to return my money.

This raises serious concerns about:
• unfair commercial practices
• misleading statements in financial dispute procedures
• systemic behavior (DPD explicitly mentioned this is not the first case with this sender)

I have initiated a chargeback and will continue escalation via regulators and ADR bodies.

Even with confirmation of loss Bike24 response to my chargeback case what parcel was delivered.

Avoid this company unless you are prepared to fight for your money.

Good shop

I have ordered quite a few items from Bike24. So far not a single issue with ordering, delivery or the one item I returned and received the refund for. Since they switched the logistics partner, even better (located in Belgium) ;)

Bad customer experience

I have been a customer of Bike24 for more than 10 years. The service was very good until today. During my last order with them, I was surprised that Bike24 used DHL Express for delivery to Canada, so very high customs and service fees in addition to the shipping costs of Bike24. Contacted Bike24 to explain the situation, response our policy has changed. No warning, nothing. Moreover, the response is quick without explanation. In their delivery terms, it is clearly stated that DHL express is an option and not an obligation. Coming from Canada, it’s clearly not a good option to order products from Bike24 with all these fees. Very bad customer experience. No, we don’t go back there anymore.

When the goods are presented to the Canada customs, the administration fees are lower than DHL Express. Futhermore, the customs charges are often zéro. With DHL express is more expensive. Bike24 not reply to my complaint. It s clear that the customer is not a priority. The livraison mode was changed since last year and the fast delivery is not an customer option but it s a obligation.

These costs are levied by the relevant authorities and are generally the responsibility of the recipient.

These fees are not directly related to the choice of DHL Express but are incurred regardless of the shipping provider.
