144% renewal price increase, glad I review the docs

My previous home insurance company have exited the market by the sounds of it.
Brightside got in contact saying they would be dealing with the renewal. It's good that this safety net is in place to make sure there is cover.
The price increase was 144% though. There was no claim, no justification for this to be the case.

It feels to me like this is immoral behaviour, and they will be taking advantage of a lot of vulnerable people who don't look at the online documents and just let the insurance renew.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs - they used to be good but now customer service is non existent. We’ve insured two properties with them for years. Now no one answers emails - generic emails and texts are sent repeatedly at renewal times yet despite repeated emails back from me for quotes etc NO- ONE does. Finally after complaining I got a phone call from a girl called Paris who promised to follow up - but then deathly silence for more than a week. Surprise, surprise I’ve now gone online found a much cheaper quote, better insurance value and instant. Seriously don’t bother with this company. They’re EXPENSIVE too!

Cancelled my policy with 4 months left…

Cancelled my policy with 4 months left on it which would have come to £88, to cancel the policy cost £60 + £25 for Premier tax??? WTF £60 to cancel how is the number arrived at? Thats appalling. I've contacted an Ombudsman and they have indicated that I need to first complain to the company...can you find and email address to contact them on on their website? No.
Even the customer service agent I spoke to when I cancelled agreed it was a high fee to cancel.
Most cancellation costs Ive had for vehicle insurance have been between £11 - £20.
Outrageous.
