Went to the pie shop on Church Street…

Went to the pie shop on Church Street Melton Mowbray sat at the table and had a browse through the menu we all decided what we wanted and went to order unfortunately they did not have any pies, a bit of a joke considering it was one o'clock. I had to make do with the potato and leek soup which might I add was Bland and tasteless (at a ridiculous price) I understand that new businesses have teething problems having next to nothing on the menu it's a bit ridiculous let's hope it gets better.
£17 for pie and mash hmmm ..
Lets face it, for pie and mash and drinks for four your looking at £100ish .
How long will this place last i wonder ?

Some of the best pies I've had!

This is the first time I've bought from Brockleby's and it certainly won't be my last!
The pies are full of quality meat and fruit, obviously depending upon which pie you're having. I bought an apple pie that was full of juicy apples and just the right amount of cinnamon. The pastry was fantastic, thin and crispy. The steak and kidney pie was full of deliciously tender meat in a rich gravy.
The meat used has not been processed the halal way which was extremely important to me as I don't approve of this cruel practice. Sadly that is not the case with other makers so it's definitely worth asking/ checking as I did.
I would and already have recommend Brockleby's pies to everyone. They are right up there with the best I have had.

Superb quality products

Superb quality products. As a widower I appreciate pies made for one person. Delivery is prompt and well packaged. I wish all the range included "small" versions. I am a very satisfied customer and have no reservations on promoting Brockley's pies.

I bought several pies for the freezer…

I bought several pies for the freezer (a chicken and mushroom, a salmon and broccoli, a cheese and onion and a cherry pie) and while they were all OK- the pastry was certainly nice and crumbly- the fillings tasted quite bland. The ingredients seemed good quality but I think they lacked seasoning. I see that most people review the pies really positively so maybe it’s just a taste preference. The date of this review reflects the day we ate the last pie from the freezer.

Hi Sarah thank you for your message and I am sorry to hear of this. It is possibly a matter of taste. We have three pies which certainly have an even greater depth of flavour given their nature - The Bang Bang pie, the Maharaja and Ali Ba Ba. Please would you drop a line to info@brocklebys.co.uk FAO Ivan and he will be in touch? Kind regards Louise

Pie Making Session

We went along to their Pie Making event last night. Nigel was our Guide for the evening providing expertise, patience and light entertainment along the way! It was a large group, but by 8.30, we all felt we'd acquired a new skill thanks to Nigel and what we'd created looked good enough to eat (well, after we bake it!). This was a really well-organised event and delivered with style. We learned about Brockleby's business and their proud history, and even the sight of grown men in hair nets didn't ruin the evening! 👍😁. Cheers, Nigel - you were the perfect host/instructor. You kept us engaged throughout the lesson, and you made a complex task easy to follow, providing plenty of encouragement and input when and where we needed it! Thanks, Brockleby's and thanks, Nigel! A perfect evening!

Ordered 3 pies on 24/08

Ordered 3 pies on 24/08, was told I’d receive them on 27/08, they didn’t arrive. Viewed the order from Brockleby’s and found that no house number had been put in th address field.
Contacted dpd who told me that because they were perishable goods they were destroyed. Phoned Brockleby’s twice and emailed 3 times asking for the order to be resent or for a refund. Have heard nothing, non existent customer service.

Misleading information

I ordered 2 x moos pie, salmon pie, cherry pie and bang bang pie less than 2 weeks ago.
I was disappointed to learn that the Stilton moo pie was made of lard so utterly waste of money. So then had what appeared to be a cooked cherry pie burnt when I retrieved it from the oven. It lacked any sweetness.
I was so disappointed say the least. I can’t believe the reviews are 5 stars. I am giving it 1 star for poor taste, having lard, poor content filling, burnt.

Disappointing for the price

We visited the Harrogate Food and Drink Festival over the Bank Holiday Weekend and loved the look of the Brockleby Pies.We were on holiday as a family of 6 adults and 2 children, so bought a Wild Beaver Pie,a Venison and Red Wine,a Chicken and Leek, a Cherry Pie and a Pork pie.
We were very underwhelmed based on how much we had paid. The Chicken pie was the best, the Beaver pie was OK, the Venison pie was bland and tasteless, the pastry was good on all of them. The Cherry pie was awful, it didn't taste of fruit!, we were so disappointed. We had bought custard to go with it and that was all we ate and the pie went into the bin.It really wasn't pleasant!!.
The Pork Pie was nice, which we would expect from Melton Mowbray. IT WAS Chunky and tasty. Such a shame for a highly anticipated family meal on holiday to be so disappointing when we had paid out so much, maybe we were just unlucky!?

Excellent Wild Beaver Pie ( beef steak and…

Bought Wild Beaver Pie ( beef steak and ale) at Fillongley show. The lady showing us the options was excellent and very informative about the products.
The pie was absolutely delicious. Lightest pastry, tender filling loaded with meat and gravy.
We’ve just bickered over the remaining little bit!
Will be looking out for more and definitely recommend.

Customer service needs to get its act together

We looked through the locations they had provided and we drove all the way to Fillongley show, on Sunday 10th August where we were informed we had to provide a printed version of the voucher we had received to redeem against the lack of venison and red wine in the previously purchased pie! As we were standing in a field for this show, there was no way to obtain a printed version.
This imperative information had not been included within the email they had sent to me. The lady on the stall asked for my email address and then confirmed she had been informed that a voucher had been issued. She then requested to look at my phone and expanded the attached voucher as large as possible on my phone, and in tiny writing at the very bottom of the voucher it stated a printed version was needed.
I enquired if the voucher barcode on my phone could be scanned but I was informed the bar codes are unable to be scanned, therefore if you cannot scan a barcode from an emailed voucher, neither can you scan it from a printed copy! Such an archaic system!
We had no choice but to drive all the way home, to print the said voucher, to drive all the way back to the show to pick up the pies!
If this is the terms and conditions of using the voucher, not only should this have been included this in the email but it should be written in bold on the voucher by the barcode and not in tiny writing at the very bottom of the voucher!!
Such poor customer service, have you stopped to think about those that do not possess a printer!
Brockleby’s pies customer service really need to get their act together!!
