Calo has some good bits, and some room for improvement.
Good: Very reliable - never had an issue with a delivery time.
It’s great not having to think about meals.
The meals themselves are mainly decent quality.
Room for improvement:
They put chilli and onion in everything. Even things that wouldn’t traditionally have it and don’t need it. They should simplify some of their ingredients and meals as there seems to be a creeping tendency to add too many ingredients to dishes that don’t need them.
The app is pretty poor. Mine crashes consistently, and then sometimes I give up and forget to update the meal being sent to me and often end up with meals that have ingredients I can’t eat so have to just bin them. If the app was more reliable or if they didn’t send meals that have ingredients you can’t eat by default that wouldn’t be an issue. They claim to be able to do the latter but in reality that doesn’t actually work. It’s down to you as a user to read the lists of ingredients.
If you don’t have intolerances though I would say they’re going to be a good fit for you. There’s a lot of repetitiveness recently with the food though so that’s something to consider.
All in all a lot of room for improvement but compared to another of the meal services I tried it’s definitely more balanced and considered. I’ll probably give a different company a go in the new year just to find somewhere without so many ingredients in the meals, but may find myself coming back for the convenience.

I absolutely get your frustration about the ingredient complexity (too much chilli/onion!) and the fact that the app keeps crashing on you. Getting meals you can't eat because of a faulty app is totally unacceptable, and I sincerely apologise for the food waste and hassle that's caused.
I can see that my colleague has reached out to you for more information regarding your specific issues.
I'll be in touch once we've received it and have a solid plan to fix the app stability and simplify the recipes.

I have tried different ready-meals delivery services, but this was the best so far - by a long shot!

Good solution for somebody trying to keep a steady sustainable well rounded diet. Taste and quality is good. Much better than grabbing take away lunch / meal deal in the office. I like that the meals are delivered fresh daily compared to other similar offerings that deliver in weekly batches. Would give 5 stars if there were more non-meat options and more flexibility to change number of meals (breakfast / lunch / dinner / snack) on daily basis

Poorly run operation
Poorly run operation. Current ownership has destroyed value in the service. Food selection algorithm takes no account of what you’ve previously ordered and liked. “High protein” labelled meals often have lower protein than ‘normal’ equivalents. Constantly changing packaging provides no confidence that portions have been weighed.

When I first came across Calo, I was a bit skeptical. I kept putting off subscribing because it seemed too good to be true. I signed up for the trial, and now here I am nearly 3 months later still subscribed. Delicious food, very healthy and fresh. Perfect for busy people like me who don’t have time to cook. In fact, I wish they had a weekend option too. Love Calo!
