TERRIBLE experience with Ryanair car…
TERRIBLE experience with Ryanair car rental...NEVER DO THIS....
No real support after being cheated by Goldcar
After being cheated by Goldcar, Ryanair Car Hire refused to provide any support, apart from some boilerplate cliches that showed they did not even read the compalint I sent.
All this after I had observed their instructions regarding the hiring process to the dot.
Next time I will avoid both Goldcar and Ryanair Car Hire.
Sometimes when you try to save the money, you lose much more:)
Deliberately exposing customers to fraud
Even though I had already paid the TOTAL cost of 175€ for the rental car, including car-insurance, via Ryanair Car Hire, I was informed at the rental desk in Alicante that I did not have any car insurance. I said that the insurance was included in the total price I had already paid, but was told that Ryan Air had added an unknown fee, no insurance.
The cheapest car insurance cost was 262€, which I had to pay in order not to drive uninsured and lose the total cost I had already paid.
The correct total cost was 437€ instead of the 175€ fraudulently claimed on the Ryanair website, a considerable difference.
I have been completely scammed and am demanding the difference back!
Ryanair rental car is a absolutely…
Ryanair rental car is a absolutely dishonest and the Goldcar rental car service are the same. If you decide to don't give your service to someone has already payed you should have valid evidence. I can't find any writing evidence in the Goldcar Web site of a mandatory double 🆔 documentation. For renting a car you need a Passport or ID card Driving licence and credit card with more substantial credit to cover the deposit.
All perfectly fine because after 45 min I was driving a car rented from one other company. My suggestion for rental company in Italy try Do you Italy or directly Vitarent.
Extra costs from rental companies
They don't prepare/protect you from rental companies extra costs.
Poor experience – missing winter equipment and refused reimbursement (Milan Malpensa)
Poor experience – missing winter equipment and refused reimbursement (Milan Malpensa)
We booked a car via Ryanair Car Hire (supplier: Surprice) from Milan Malpensa Airport for a ski trip.
On arrival, the collection process was extremely disorganised. I was transported from the airport to the rental office in a small vehicle to complete the paperwork, while my partner had to wait outside the terminal with all of our luggage for close to an hour until the car was ready.
Our booking voucher explicitly stated that snow chains were included. Due to the disorganisation at collection and the rush to get underway, we reasonably believed the winter equipment was present. A breakdown/safety bag containing high-visibility vests and other roadside equipment was supplied with the vehicle, which we initially believed may have contained the snow chains.
The following day, after checking more thoroughly, it became clear that no snow chains had been provided. I contacted Surprice immediately to report this and was instructed by their staff to purchase suitable snow chains myself in order to remain compliant with local winter driving regulations. I was advised that the cost would be reimbursed and to retain proof of purchase.
We followed these instructions exactly and purchased the snow chains. When returning the vehicle, we were advised at the desk that reimbursement could not be processed there and that we would need to email customer support.
Despite providing valid proof of purchase, reimbursement has since been refused on the basis that the invoice is not in the hire company’s name — a requirement that was never communicated at the time and is not something Amazon can retrospectively amend.
The issue is not the cost, but the lack of accountability and the inconsistent information provided throughout the rental. We acted promptly and in good faith to resolve a problem caused by missing mandatory equipment, yet were left out of pocket.
I would strongly recommend double-checking all winter equipment before leaving the rental office and ensuring any authorisations are confirmed in writing.
Absolutely scam
Absolutely scam, I canceled the car on the desk because I discovered hiden terms and conditions and Costs i couldn't cover, they told me that was too late to cancel when I booked on the car airport right after landing, issues were discovered on the desk. NO REFUND OF ANY COSTS TILL NOW!!! I has to prepay everything, and even car insurance costs (that i never driven were not refunded.

REFUND ISSUED!
After going back and forth for a month I finally got my refund (full £700) from Ryanair. Please contact your bank and request a chargeback, collect all the evidence. You can say that there was no clear information stated anywhere that the credit card was required and that resulted in "service not received". Ryanair will have to pay for every chargeback (up to a £100) regardless if they win or loose. Also, if enough people do it it'll put them on the "black list" which may result in shutting down their business (car hire element) completely!
Absolutely rubbish
Absolutely rubbish. I booked it but wanted my husband and friend to be drivers didn’t explain that the person who booked had to be a driver.
The person in Lanzarote gold car car hire was an awful man rude and shouting. To top it all took money out of our account that wasn’t authorized. Awful experience
Lies about refund on early return and…
Lies about refund on early return and hidden expenses.
I booked a rental car through Ryanair…
I booked a rental car through Ryanair Car Hire (Ref. GR912707330) for Athens. All documents only mentioned a “credit card” for the €1,100 deposit – no warning that American Express is not accepted. Even worse: Ryanair explicitly lists AMEX as an accepted payment method on their booking management page (screenshot available). Less than 24 hours before pickup (tomorrow 10:00), support revealed Surprice refuses Amex. This is clear misleading information / deception by Ryanair as broker. Surprice is notorious for rude, unfriendly, and unprofessional staff (countless reviews mention high-pressure tactics, rudeness, and stress at Athens Airport). I'm on site in Athens, cannot pick up the car, and demand a full refund (€39.96) without any fees. Typical Ryanair/Surprice scam – avoid!
Car booked, no car provided, no refund
I booked a car through Ryanair Car Hire and arrived at the pickup location on time with all required documents and a valid debit card with sufficient funds. The rental company refused to provide the vehicle, insisting on a credit card, and there were additional technical and communication issues at the desk. As a result, no car was provided and no service was delivered.
Despite this, both the rental company and Ryanair’s car hire partner refused to issue a refund, repeatedly stating that their “position remains unchanged” and relying on terms and conditions rather than addressing the fact that no service was provided.
This caused serious disruption to my trip and significant stress. I would strongly caution others to be very careful when booking car hire through Ryanair, as support is extremely limited when problems arise.
Zero suport or respocefrom ryanair car…
Zero suport or respocefrom ryanair car rental
1. When I arrived to the location (U-Save) outside airport in Agadir (morocco) to pick the car up we where held there for mare than 3 hours like a hostages with 3 children which is one was an infant.
2. Person at the counter was constantly fiddling with card payment machine trying to make a deception that my credit card is not working (which is doggy as hell) first of all claiming that I can’t remember my pin code, which I opened my Lloyds bank app and showed that I have an access to my pin. Then tried telling me that my card is not working. I have phoned my bank and asked is there any issues, I was advised that there's no activity (any attempts of taking any payments) and that I should go and advise the person at the counter that there's an issue on his side.
3. Person at the counter was refusing to release the car, because I could not make a deposit using my credit card and the only thing he could do is to use a different card... catch is that I must purchase €400 unrefunable insurance directly from them! Which I categorically refused!
4. I strongly disagree with their extortion tactic and I have tried to show them that I have an extra insurance from AXA when booked rental. Non of that mattered to them
5. Later personel at rental office started telling us that they could take us back to airport and we can spend holidays there or we pay that extra insurance... and there's no other option.
6. At that point we where at rental office for around 4 hours, with no food or water, bear in mind we have an infant with with additional 2 children after 4 hours of flight and one hour at customs office.
7. My wife gave in and paid that extortion!!! You can see hers name on the contract and 4000 dirham (£340) insurance payment.
8. I have tried contacting Ryanair rental by phone, for assistance. But phone lines are non existing.
9. We where forced to pay £340.21 because staf from u-save used their power and pulled a deception/scam tactics. Forced us go though mental torture and applying an ultimatums and racketeering tactics.
9. Straight after we went to the shop and I've used my credit card to pay for shoping and it worked perfectly!!!
10. Vehicle condition was absolute diabolical, not a single panel was free of dents or scratches, interior was extremely dirty, mechanically had plenty issues as well such as power staining non existing, radiator was loosing coolant constantly, one of the front lights flickering and the other not working at all.
What ever they where doing it's CRIMINAL!!! This needs to stop!!! And we need justice and our money back.
It's a total scam
It's a total scam. Wouldn't release the car and kept £700!
Misleading car hire – service not as described
I booked via Ryanair Car Hire and selected a specific drop-off location. When I arrived to collect the vehicle, I discovered that the drop-off location was different from what was advertised and that there was no shuttle service for the return journey, which was never mentioned in the booking or any correspondence.
The collection process was slow and frustrating; we waited almost 50 minutes for the shuttle from Manchester Airport to reach the car hire desk. Because of this, I was unable to cancel prior to the scheduled pick-up time, despite the service being mis-described.
I contacted Ryanair multiple times by phone and email to resolve the issue, but they refused to refund the deposit, wrongly classifying this as a “no-show,” and did not address the misleading information or the shuttle delay.
Overall, the booking process was confusing, the service was not as described, and the customer support was unhelpful and unprofessional - one agent openly saying to me "I know this looks like a scam". I cannot recommend Ryanair Car Hire based on this experience.
I rented through ryanair
I rented through ryanair. My flight got delayed more than 1 hour....again. the third time in 1 year. Clearly not my problem but I missed the designated time of picking up the car. Tje rental office was closed.
Consequence: annulation of my car,had to rent another one.
Response of ryanair customer service: We "regret" that we are unable to refund your money. It is our policy not to do so in case of missed appointments with third parties due to your flight delay.
I booked via Ryanair. So they are responsible.
I do not fly the plane so how can it be my delay.
Shitty service from a shitty company.
Scam to enforce insurance
It's a scam to force you to take the totally unnecessary "full insurance". Please avoid it. They hate their own customers. No doubt.
Never ever use Ryan air to book a hire…
Never ever use Ryan air to book a hire car, they use Mickey Mouse companies who rip you off and then deny any liability
If there is a worse company to deal with than Ryan Air when things go wrong, I’d be amazed!
The help Center is bad
The help Center is bad, the first chat I lost, and the second chat I can’t close easily. the agent guy Youssef was not helpful, who kept saying you agree with the condition.
I was telling him about bad user experience, and mentioned they should have the CHECKLIST before booking/payment not after! And he just repeated telling me that I agreed the terms and conditions.
This was my first time booking a car via Ryanair. And my last time.
The help center is a disaster.
We booked a car rental through Ryanair…
We booked a car rental through Ryanair for our trip to Sicily, and the provider was GoldCar. The quotation shown at the time of booking was completely different from what we were charged in the end — once insurance and “legal cover” were added, the price effectively doubled.
The service was also very poor. We waited more than 30 minutes, and the car still wasn’t ready. The staff were clearly short-handed and showed little interest in addressing any complaints.
Overall, I would not recommend Ryanair Car Hire or GoldCar for car rentals.
