“SELLERS BE WARE”
“SELLERS BE WARE”
Just experienced a horrible time with this Company in regards to selling my daughter’s car. The process started when we advertised my daughters car for sale on “Car Sales” I received an offer of $8,000 approx 40% less than the advertised price from a person who wrote he was from a dealership straight after I received an offer from “Cars 24” for $8,500 which I believe after going through the process was the same person using different platforms.
I called the Cars 24 number to accept their offer of $8,500 thinking and believing it would be a on site home visual inspection to check over my car and sign off if all ok but was informed it would be a visual inspection only which I booked on a day of over 40 degrees I also sent them preliminary close up photos to make the process quicker. The time came that afternoon where I called into a FaceTime style meeting taking part of a virtual tour of the car and operating features as asked at the end was told someone would contact me with an offer within 24 hours which never happened, I left messages and phoned with no reply until the next day where I actually had to call again to speak to someone who said would have the person of the inspection call me back with the offer, he called me back but no offer instead asking if I could take my car in to their workshop in Laverton over (1 hour away) this was never part of the process which was supposed to be hassle free. I phoned the Company “Cars 24” again and put in a complaint about still no offer I then received a call back from the person who was supposed to be the person who took part in the visual face time inspection even though different names showed up with who was involved. I then was told that the offer was $7,380.00 I asked why you would offer $8,500.00 I was told told it was mainly due to 1 service missed even though later 2 services were carried out at the same time to make sure the car was in order. (1 owner car never had a panel touched never ever had any issues all services documented) and they confirmed the car was very well kept.
In Summary you have 2 offers $8,000 from unknown Dealership then $8,500 from “Cars 24” (same people) who then went on to say they would need to deduct amounts from the $8,500 offer at which time I objected to this as never mentioned in initial offer. Both these organisations are the same people who also both asked me to bring car in to be inspected in Laverton Vic which was never part of the process. I believe this to be a very disappointing way and underhanded Business practise and I would never ever entertain using the services of “Card 24” after all they have missed out on a magnificent car where only 400 were sold in Australia.
I’m hoping the ACCC investigate this organisation to make sure the dealings are above board.
A predatory company targeting people in vulnerable situations
A predatory company that cold-calls private car sellers and has the audacity to offer well below market value, clearly targeting people in vulnerable situations.

SELLING TO CARS24
CARS24 contacted me regarding an advertisement to sell my car on Carsales. My car was on for the market value and they made me an offer which was then negotiated to be a little higher, but nonetheless I was happy to go with them.
They organised the “virtual inspection” (a 1 minute video they asked to be emailed), asked for all the photos and documents, and I had advised them of the slight marks on the car. All documentation they asked for including photos of servicing was provided.
6 days after this was all submitted, they sent me an offer of $16k, asking for 50% be paid before collection, and 50% after they took the car to their yard.
Stating all the reasons they knew about for the decrease in price and the “inspection” a 1 minute video of the car.
Absolute disgrace of a company.
Cars24 what a great team 👏
Cars24 were excellent to deal with. From my first contact with Tarushi who was excellent in explaining the process to me and arranging the virtual inspection with Mr Singh who also was very patient and helpful with the inspection process. I thoroughly recommend Cars24 as an excellent option to the endless calls from tyre kickers who are not interested in giving you a reasonable offer.

I had a great experience selling my car…
I had a great experience selling my car through Cars24, thanks to Himanshu. From the very beginning, he was professional, responsive, and extremely helpful. He clearly explained each step of the process and made sure everything was handled smoothly and transparently. The entire journey—from inspection to final settlement—was hassle-free and well coordinated. I never felt confused or stressed at any point, as Himanshu was always available to answer my questions and provide updates. Overall, it was a seamless and efficient experience, and I would highly recommend Cars24 to anyone looking to sell their car easily and confidently.
Time-Wasting, Lowballing, High-Pressure Tactics
Time-Wasting, Lowballing, High-Pressure Tactics
Cars24 contacted me after I listed my Mazda CX-5 for sale, and the entire experience was a complete waste of time. The car’s realistic market value is $30k–$35k, with wholesale around $25k. I advertised it at $27,500, which was fair and transparent, with minor cosmetic scuffs clearly shown in the listing photos.
From the very first call, Cars24 were talking numbers around $23k — already well below wholesale. They then sent a mechanic to inspect the vehicle. The inspector told us the car was immaculate and mechanically sound.
Despite this, a few hours later Cars24 called back claiming the same minor scuffs they already had photos of somehow justified “substantial” panel repairs and slashed their offer to $22,500. This felt completely disingenuous. What followed was blatant pressure to force an immediate decision. When I explained the car belongs to my wife and we needed time to discuss it, they escalated the pressure, claiming the offer couldn’t be held because of internal “buying budget” limits.
I have over 40 years’ experience in sales and marketing, and I recognise pressure tactics when I see them. I made it clear I would not be rushed or manipulated into a bad decision. At that point, I refused to deal with them at all.
This process felt deliberately designed to wear sellers down after they’ve already invested time in inspections and calls. If you know the value of your car, expect lowball offers and heavy pressure. I would strongly advise others to think twice before engaging with Cars24 unless you’re prepared for this kind of experience.
Ansh at CARS24
My experience with Ansh at CARS24 was very positive, he was professional and efficient and we got a deal done to sell my car with minimal hassle, and only a 15min videoconference for a virtual inspection of the car. Would highly recommend him and CARS24
