I received amazing service and was thoroughly looked after throughout the whole process. Special shout out to Kam who helped me profusely.
£44,000 for a “10,153-mile” Golf — then the vehicle’s own data told a very different story
One star only because zero is not available.
I deliberately waited until taking legal advice before making this experience public.
On 5 January 2024, I purchased a Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport from CARSA for £44,000, including a £7,000 part-exchange. A major reason for buying it was that it was advertised as having just 10,153 miles.
After purchase, Volkswagen evidence and an independent automotive engineer’s report identified a substantial discrepancy between the mileage displayed on the dashboard and mileage data recorded within the vehicle’s systems. The evidence was consistent with mileage of approximately 27,500 — around 17,000 miles more than the figure on which the car was advertised and sold.
To be completely clear, I am not claiming to know who caused the discrepancy or exactly how it occurred. The problem is much simpler: I paid £44,000 for a supposedly low-mileage car, yet the mileage on which I made that decision cannot be reconciled with the vehicle’s own electronic data.
When the car was subsequently taken to Volkswagen for what should have been a routine service and MOT inspection, I was also presented with repairs estimated at around £4,000, including work relating to the sump and a wheel. Faced with those costs and the unresolved mileage discrepancy, the vehicle was declared SORN and has remained off the road for a prolonged period.
I obtained the independent report requested, supplied the Volkswagen evidence and ultimately had to instruct solicitors. What should have been dealt with promptly has instead required expert evidence, formal correspondence and an extraordinary amount of time and effort simply to establish why a vehicle sold as having 10,153 miles contains substantially higher mileage data.
A customer should not need engineers, manufacturer diagnostics and solicitors to establish whether the mileage attached to a £44,000 purchase can be trusted.
Based on my experience, I would never purchase another vehicle from CARSA. Anyone considering doing so should obtain their own independent diagnostic checks at control-module level rather than relying solely on the dashboard mileage or sales presentation.
The legal matter remains ongoing. I will update this review with the final outcome.
Guy who sold me the car was professional, polite and extremely likable!
Very organised process and impressed with the service, at this point I would definitely recommend
The staff both salesperson and general manager were very good to deal with and most of all the car was excellent
Very professional and the car was well prepared but unfortunately the car was at the top of my budget and would need 4 new tyres very soon so didn’t go ahead with the purchase but was not pressured in any way
Great service with knowledgeable sales men: Dannish dealt with my purchase from start to finish and was extremely helpful & professional throughout the entire process. Scott, the manager of Carsa Durham, also offered great understanding and kindness . The experience of buying with Carsa is fabulous, you don’t feel “pushed” or forced into buying extras, you’re taken care of, the cars are beautiful and well inspected before any customer purchases them and it’s overall very pleasant buying with them.
Only had my car a few hours but thoroughly enjoying it so far. So thank you Carsa for everything.
We had a great experience today with Shaw, he was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient with us and helped us find our perfect car. We highly recommend you visit him
If I could put 0 stars I would. Reserved a car to be transferred between branches. Got told on the day I was driving to our nearest branch over an hour a way that it was there to turn up and be told it hadn't been transferred because of a nail in the tyre 2 days before. We rearranged it and were told it was getting collected the day I phoned, phoned up on the day we were meant to collect to find out it still hadn't been moved but would be done that day. Phoned up later that same day and now have been told that there's actually an engine management light on that car which is why it wasn't moved and they won't have it sorted for a while. Different stories each time you phone them and they don't care in the slightest of the inconveniences that their own incompetence causes.
Charlotte was incredibly welcoming from the moment I walked in and explained everything thoroughly. She was genuinely helpful making my first car purchase a smooth and enjoyable experience. Thank you so much for your assistance.
Great service from Eric, really easy process and all of my questions were answered. Would recommend to others!

Kayden was great, was really helpful and informative. Helped us throughout the process and make it very easy to purchase the car.
Very good service Mohamed very honest genuine guy appreciate the honesty
Very good experience with Noris. Easy sale. Very welcoming!!
I went to look and test drive a couple cars, took a week to consider then came back. Tariq at the Wolverhampton branch was brilliant with my purchase. There was no hard sell in my opinion, even though I did go with the extras because my own research came to the same or you could get cheaper but what sold it for me was that it was just one contact with Carsa. There was friendly advice and room for negotiation on the xtras. Highly recommend asking for Tariq if you're interested in purchasing a car.
However be aware that when they say you get AA breakdown included in with warranty it's not. This I'm not happy about when Tariq told me this but when asking about the this he then said I got it wrong.
Kash was very friendly and helpful, made buying my car very easy. At Carsa they aren’t pushy like many other sales which makes the process a lot more relaxed.
We recently bought a car from Carsa Halesowen. The process was honest and transparent and the car looks great. The sales guy Tall Sam was really helpful and provided lots of background info on the car.
