false advertising / fraud
Cell C advertises a month-to-month deal which allows you to "cancel anytime" and "subscribe month to month with NO cancellation fees". It is referred to as "no lock in".
This was explained to me as such, and I agreed to the deal. I have another contract which is expiring within a few weeks, and I phoned them to hear if I can switch this contract/number to the same deal.
When accepting the contract, the consultant suddenly mentioned "commitment fees" - the advertisement EXPLICITLY states NO FEES. The consultant just said that the terms has changed and there is fees now. I refused to proceed, but I insisted that if they advertise something, they should stick to the advertisement or stop advertising. A week later, and its still being advertised incorrectly on the website.
In light of this I queried my existing contract - and was informed that, although I was never explained the new terms or agreed to their terms or was even informed of the Fees let alone agreed to it - I am responsible to pay R1900 commitment fees.
I have, over the last week, lodged several complaints to their customer service department. I had one call from a guy telling me that he cannot help me with the complaint, and that I should phone them and ask for a manager.
Do not use Cell C!!!
since end of July 2022 I tired to move one of my contracts to my wife's name(for business reasons), this was done at last on 09 August 2022 after I complained on Hello Peter.
Thabisile Ngcobo(Social Media Department) informed me that all is sorted.
Today my debit order went off still for both contracts, but I only have one contract under my name.
But my wife was not Debited for her amount.
yet again the issue was not sorted out.
Called Cell C customer care and they just said they can not help me.
so I will reverse the payment and not pay my account until Cell C have fixed this issue.
why do you even have a customer care department?????

BAD BAD SERVICE FROM CELL C
I phoned customer care to blacklist my two phones as me and my wife was robbed at gunpoint on the 31/07/2022. Customer care told me that they will escalate it because they cant do it. Device insurance said I must give them a ITC number for them to process the claim, however it's 11/08/2022 and I'm still waiting on the ITC number. When I went the cell c store and a consulted gave a ITC number for my one phone and now they tell me the number is wrong after a week and a half and also send a email saying that the claim is being process for the 1 phone. No I must wait for the ITC number for both phones. I have been phoning customer care everyday to receive the ITC numbers but with no luck. On top off everything no one communicates to saying they are still working on it. Every time when I speak to customer care they say that the query is with the back office. The people working in there Backoffice need to be disciplined.

This company must actually rate a NO Star because it doesn't deserve even a 1 Star. Poor customer service. My sim was damaged a couple of weeks back, called the service desk they asked a bunch of ridiculous nonsense. Eventually they sent me off to the physical store, first time they were offline and second time they didn't have sim cards and they were rude.

Cell c failed to allocate payment from 2021 June. I ve been calling them going to the store but nothing is happening. I had case no but nothing was done by cell c.then my account was handed over to debt collectors. That money was allocated 06 April 2022 to the debt collectors.they say I have balance 1.500 .my credit report is affected by cell c with their incompetent services.
Immoral, unscrupulous, hiding behing a faceless call centre with no excalation possibilities
There should be a 0 rating available, or rather a minus rating.
Pushing an 80 year old person to give exactly 30 days notice to end a contract (at the end of it's term), then finding a ridiculous excuse to not cancel it, scoring an additional month for Cell C.
No escalation path, no way to contact management and no management returns any calls.
No management after 17:00 at branches and staff openly say they have no escalation paths into Cell C either.
Cell C should be investigated by the Organized Crimes Unit.
Something wrong at Cell C
Something has gone terribly wrong at Cell C. From failing to allocate payments, wrong billing, poorly trained customer service .list is endless. It's a 0 out of 10.
They also just dream up of figures and say your account is in arrears when it's not. Make sure you check the statements sent to you otherwise you are paying money you don't owe.
Poor Communication
Eligible for an upgrade which I did 3 weeks ago via Cell C Direct on 084145. Still to receive my new handset and NO communication from them on the matter! If only they knew that effective communication would have gone a long way in solving this problem and frustration. I phoned several times in the meantime only to be put through to another department which asks the 5 security questions all over again...it is one company, yet every time you are transferred to someone in a different department, you have to answer the same security questions again. This is a clear sign of poor customer service! I have stopped phoning them because no consultant could help me up till now.
No more cell c!!!
If there would be the option to give no star at all, that would be my choice. Just tried to talk to an agent and he was so rude. Always interrupted while I tried to explain the problem, told me to get to the point (I'm not mother tongue English so finding the right words is not always easy for me but I am not a bad speaker either) I then felt disrespected and decided to told that guy my mind about his service and unmotivational service, and I hung up. No more cell c. It's the worst I've ever experienced.

Terrible customer service from billing, customer contact and feedback. Fibre service is my main gripe. Once excellent service but now I would not recommend to my worst enemy.

My account was handed over around November 2021 and suspended due to non payment, but the contact details of the collections agency are not working and there are no other means of making contact with them. Cell c has ruined 2 job opportunities for me because they ****ed up my credit profile, I got decline by applying for a house because my credit profile was ruined by cell c, and now my credit profile is gone to **** because of cell c, I pay them every ****ing month by the 25th of every single month, and guess what, 2 months later the payment is still not allocated to my account, every month same story. I HAVE CONTRACT WITH CELL C 15 years…
I HAVE CONTRACT WITH CELL C 15 years on. Now it's my upgrade time they telling me I'm in default. How I don't know. I have a Service agreement by law in South Africa not credit agreement with Cell C. It breaks my soul to think covid has made people incompetent. 5 People phoned me in 1 hour to upgrade . But I had to tell them the same story. ( about the default) According to the upgrade department and customers care department they see nothing wrong on system . So who communicating with who . I'm contemplating to take legal action. But they always been soo loyal and helpful why what's happening with Cell C business. Everyone complaining about their service .
Cell C month to month contract cancellations
I took a sim card only data contract with Cell C last year 2021. I verified with the sales agent that the line is a month to month contract and that I can cancel in the next few months since I will be installing Fibre. The sales agent guaranteed me that the there will be no cancelation fees just a 30 day notice period. Now when I cancel they tell me I need to pay a penalty fee of R5482.50 for early cancelation. What am I being penalized for since I did not receive any devise from them except sim card and they promised me on the call that there is no cancelation fee. I don't think that this is in line with the Consumer Protection Act.
Absolutely shocking service
Absolutely shocking service. Being a customer for 16 years I can't wait to move my business. Call center staff have absolutely no clue. Impossible to escalate a complaint and have been billed incorrectly for the last year which I am STILL trying to sort. Last communication someone was going to send me a recon in Jan on exactly where they think I owe money. Still waiting in March.
