I have had exactly the same bad experience of being charged an initial £5.95 and then having an unsolicited “subscription” of £39.90 debited without warning or any permission I was aware of. Ba... See more

I paid to get a one time report on a vehicle for £5.95 and nine days later a further £39.90 was deducted from my account. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I paid to get a one time report on a vehicle for £5.95 and nine days later a further £39.90 was deducted from my account. I called the company and they told me I took a subscription out which I did not. I will be contacting trading standards regarding this because it’s evident to see that a lot of people have got caught by doing this and this is extremely unfair

Like every one else on this company was not made clear it was 48 hour free trial. I am not a trader so why would I want to pay subscription, totally dishonest company should be dealt with by trading standards. I only saw the transaction today so paid £200 plus the £5.95 for original check. Called them and they are so brazen, basically ripped me off, RIP OFF BRITTIAN HERE WE COME

Absolute Scam, paid for one time check then 48hours later paid for a monthly subscription, what’s not surprising is there is no way to manage your subscription on the site.

Paid for one time check and they have automatically took payment of another £39.90 without prior authorisation, looking online at how to contact them and the page just expires. Scam Company

This website is a scam, they advise you have 48Hrs to cancel before the 39.90 monthly charge starts then they refuse to refund as you are outside the 48hrs, but the law states 14 days, no emails, just the recurring monthly charge. avoid

They charged me with £5.95 for one car report, which they stated later was not for the report, but for a 48 hours trial(which is already ridicoulus in my opinion as normally a trial period should be free or much cheaper than a full membership) and they charged immediately after with £39.90 for a monthly membership. I contacted them on the same day to ask for a refund. They refused it and said it was completely clear in their opinion and fair enough to charge with almost £46 for one car report.
Absolutely disgusting and I wish I could leave less than zero star due to their customer service and fairness.
Funnily enough I nearly never leave a review especially a negative one, but if any company would deserve all the bad reviews, it's theirs for sure...
Very, very disappointed.

SCAM website, do not use. We clearly clicked on the one off service for ONE check, why in earth would we need to sign up to a monthly service. Clearly misleading and theft, this "business" has been reported to the bank for fraud

SCAMMERS.
OFFER A SERVICE FOR £5.95 THEN FRAUDULENTLY TAKE A FURTHER £39.95 3 DAYS LATER.
PLEASE CONTACT YOUR BANK AND TRADING STANDARDS ASAP. ANYONE THAT BASICALLY STEALS FROM PEOPLE LIKE THIS ARE JUST PURE EVIL.

SCAM - exact same experience as others. £39.95 been taken monthly after paying for a 1 off car check.
I have informed my bank of this fraud and will escalate it through Action Fraud and the NCSC. I urge other to do the same.

Awful scamming company, pay £5.95 for a check then £39.90 per month for the rest of your life. AVOID

Checked a car that my son was looking to purchase, 2 days later 39.90 was taken from my account, nowhere does it tell you this, tried to email but got no response absolute scam

It's laughable and deceptive how you say in other reviews that you are committed to being transparent and reliable. Really?
How about you make your so called small print ( wherever it is ) large and bold.
You say you are giving people a 2 day trial so they can try it out before they commit. I never committed. You took out £39.90 unlawfully . THIS IS FRAUD! Stop deceiving people. Look at all your reviews. They are saying the same thing . Have reported you.

These are clearly fraudsters. As with everyone else I was stung for several months of charges without being told it was a recuring payment or subscription. Don't just report here contact you bank/ card issuer and report them, report to action fraud and report to the Irish police.

Went onto their website to check a car I was going to purchase. It offered me a full report for £14.95 with a £9 pound discount. I went ahead and paid the £5.95 and got the report. One hour later, they took a further £39.90 from my account. When I contacted them via the website, there was no answer, but then I emailed them using their email address and they responded by saying that I had signed up for the premium service at a monthly cost of £39.90 which they say was clear on their website which it was not obviously. Clever wording and easy to miss offer terms and conditions means you could get easily roped in. They agreed to cancel any further monthly payments, which is a good job as I only wanted to check one car, but refused to refund and also to add insult to injury said that as I had unsubscribed, I had no further access despite having paid 45 pounds within a couple of days. Shocking! avoid, maybe not scamming, but certainly sharp Practice

Exactly the same as all other reviews , £5 check turns into £40 a month somehow ! They claim transparency, in terms and conditions , however I don’t believe all 1700 people would have missed something so apparently obvious !

BEWARE!!! Scam company. Nowhere online does it say they will take a payment of £40 2 days after you pay £5 for a hpi check. And when you call them they answer and then they can’t hear you. I manage to get the name of the person called Marium but poor thing must have been alone because I got her all 3 times that I called. Will be going to the bank and report it as fraud and see if they can recover the money back. I am a single mother with 3 children and with Christmas coming up I’m now going to struggle for gifts. Absolutely horrified and devastated this happened when I was in such a bad place already.
UPDATE: they redeemed themselves a little by refunding.

this is a scam company - that use small print to hide the monthly fee they intend to charge you when you think you are buy a 1 off service at £1.90 they slip in an unstoppable £39.90 monthly repeating charge. The only think your bank can do is stop future payments

Reply from Checkmycar
Scammers. Avoid like the plague. I searched for car vertical but Google scumbags let these bstrds sit at the top of the list.

Reply from Checkmycar
Scam, I have been paying this for the last 6 months unaware from doing a £6.00 check on a car they then sign you up to £40 per month. No login details and if you request a login reset never arrives. I will have the banks stop the transaction as they are impossible to contact
