I have had exactly the same bad experience of being charged an initial £5.95 and then having an unsolicited “subscription” of £39.90 debited without warning or any permission I was aware of. Ba... See more

this is a scam company - that use small print to hide the monthly fee they intend to charge you when you think you are buy a 1 off service at £1.90 they slip in an unstoppable £39.90 monthly repeating charge. The only think your bank can do is stop future payments

Scammers. Avoid like the plague. I searched for car vertical but Google scumbags let these bstrds sit at the top of the list.

Scam, I have been paying this for the last 6 months unaware from doing a £6.00 check on a car they then sign you up to £40 per month. No login details and if you request a login reset never arrives. I will have the banks stop the transaction as they are impossible to contact

Scamming opportunists. Steer clear folks.
I have been unwittingly charged £39.90 for 5 consecutive months and I've emailed them direct asking for a full refund of my money.

If I could give 0 stars I would.
I purchased a one off hpi check for £5.95 from this company and I was shocked to also find that I had also been charged £39.90 from them.
Nowhere on their website does it mention any trial period. When I made the hpi check for £5.95 I received no confirmation email and no mention of a trial period via email either. I only found our about the trial period from other users who also only signed up for a one off purchase on trustpilot and who were also charged the additional £39.90. This company needs to be more transparent on their website.
I have not signed up to any ongoing account or authorised this second charge. Their website makes no mention of a second charge. These are scammed and I will be contacting my bank to report it as a fraudulent charge.
Avoid this company

The service was recommended by a YouTube video and as I was purchasing a new car I decided a report as a one off for this car would be a good idea for peace of mind. Paid £5.95 for a single report. Was not expecting to have a £39.99 subscription fee taken from my account 48 hours later. Fortunately my bank flagged this and I was able to stop the transaction. Will never use this site again and would encourage others to avoid.
Have realised (by putting Car Vertical into Google) that they try to pass themselves off as Carvertical which was the website I was looking for. Have emailed them and cancelled all unsolicited subscriptions.

Tatal scammers, tried to make a false subscription and take £39.99 from my bank.

I wish there was an option to leave a review without any stars. This website is a scam. Never use this. I downloaded just one-off car history check report and they attempted to take £39.90 by making a false subscription. Just hungup the phone talking to Frauds Team of my bank. Never ever use this website.

Fell into same trap as everyone else on these reviews, site is very misleading, I thought I was paying for a one time check at 5.95 then 2 days later 39.90 taken from my account, apparently you have a 48 hour cooling period but again this is not clear, managed to speak to the call centre and speak to a very rude woman who may awell said oh well that's tough you can now join the other mugs 🤣, she did cancel my subscription or so she said so will have to speak to bank. Should of checked this site first same as my now colleagues, anyway now 40 quid poorer please beware total scamming website

I only paid for a £5.99 check then within 48h they took £39.99, I logged in to the website which it lets me do, then tried to cancel and it tells me that the email address is wrong so will not let me cancel, I only have 2 email addresses and neither would allow me to cancel but would let me log in. I tried calling the customer service number which advertises is open until 8 pm at 6.50pm only to be told to call back during office hours! Also click the email address on the contact us page and it will take you to page not found. An Absolute scam, I have had to report this as a scam to my bank to attempt to recoup my money and prevent further payments. All reviews, over 2000 are 1 star, that many people cannot be wrong!

Scam will save your card details and take money from your account monthly this way you are not able to cancel the subscription as it does not show up as one with your bank.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!
Ive only paid for a one time car check with them, then they collected £39.90 from my account without my authorisation.

I have fallen into the same trap as others and found I have been charged the £39.90 monthly for the past 16 months and not noticed. I have requested a full refund and contacted the bank to block this company and they have re-credited my account and will wait for a response from these thieves because that is what they are. They need to be arrested and charged.

Believe the reviews! This company does not communicate with you, gives no notification regarding subscription, no receipt of payment, no account details, no history of searches and just believes it can take money based on the ‘full report’ reference immediately after the check. Do not use this site. If you want to check a vehicle use any other site, like CarVertical. This is a scam front.

If i could give this company "0" stars I would! Fraudulant company,AVOID at all costs.
As others have said, you pay what you think is £5 fee to check on car you may be buying and then they take £39 a month out of your bank! This company has been taking money from my account since July 24! My bank alerted me today! I am waiting for a call back from check my car. They owe payments back from July 24! Will update you all on here of the outcome.I will be taking this further. Sneaky, scam company!

This company fraudulently took £39.90 from my credit card for a subscription I did not want or authorise. When I contacted them, they denied taking any payment, even after I sent clear proof from my credit card statement. Their dishonesty is shocking.
I’ve now reported the issue to Mastercard for investigation. My advice: stay well clear of this company, they blatantly lie and cannot be trusted.
**UPDATE**
Your subscription details and cancellation terms are not clearly displayed prior to payment confirmation — if they were, there wouldn’t be so many negative reviews from customers with the same issue.
You initially claimed to have no record of taking a £39.90 payment from my credit card for a subscription. However, after I raised the matter with Mastercard, you have now asked for the claim to be stopped and confirmed that a refund will be issued within 20 days.
This entire experience has shown nothing but incompetence and a lack of honesty throughout the process.

Just another victim to warn everyone not to use this service. This is a complete scam. I've lost £199.50 for 5 recurring payments of £39.50. They automatically put you on a recurring subscription and try their best to hide it, like leeches. These charges are not clear and you won't get any invoices even if they have your email. I've been told that I won't be refunded as I "subscribed" to the offer. Check your bank entries NOW for "checkmycar" and stop funding these scammers!!

This company is a SCAM. Like to many others, I was charged £40 as a direct debit I never accepted or applied for

Paid for a one off car check and was unknowingly signed up a subscription. Only realised the next day when the payment went out my bank. Tried to email but the email they provide to these reviews does not exist. Managed to get through to customer service and they cancelled the subscription but refused to refund the money they took. Have reported to my bank and will also be contacting trading standards.
The person on the phone was also rude.
