Sales rep and Phone reps for Clover are incredibly unprofessional and unhinged
I had a sales rep come in to my restaurant 5 times to tell me my business will fail and I dont know anything about running a business if I dont use Clover products, he proceeded to interrupt me when I was trying to tell him im not interested in their product and that he's been in the industry for 30 years so he knows more than I do.. when I got fed up, he told me I was rude and then threatened to tell people my restaurant was unwelcoming and a bad place.. I then call Clover to complain and they laughed about it telling me they can give me a good deal to sign up and that i'm not allowed to have the corporate number unless i sign up with them. What a way to get a new customer or treat anyone who has had a bad experience. Also they told me they dont have a supervisor to speak to when i asked for one. They are a joke company from their phone reps all the way to the sales guy who comes out to your business.. I don't understand why anyone would do business with this company.

If I could give a zero star I would
If I could give a zero star I would. You pay for service and intergation but for 3 months the pictures do not show up on the delivery platforms and to make matters worse they removed my delivery app online resulting in 12 days of canceled orders and revenues. Stay far away from this POS as you will be on long holds and they will forward you out of the country and nothing gets done except we are working on it. Stay away also from their third party billing of Merchant one. They are no help while they take your fees
Worst Company and Client Service
Worst Company and Client Service I have ever had to work with. It is a waste of your time to call. Long waiting/holding times and in the end, nothing gets resolved. They tell you to call back on a certain date and then they are closed and don't take any calls. So much for 24/7 help.
Prices increase frequently, so your contract means nothing to them. Then they add another "Cloud Storage Fee" at the end of the year. I canceled the Service and bought out my contract just to get away from the constant headache trying to deal with them and they still charge an additional month of Service.
I can only say: "Stay away from Clover"!
Bad all the way!
We've had Clover for a little more than 3 years. We are a retail store (wine and beer) with continuous growth of inventory and SKUs of course.
The inventory was aways wrong, bugs in the system on busy days (can't retrieve customers, can't take payments etc) but what is the WORST part is we switched to another company in January 2026 and retrieved our list of outstanding balance gift cards to import them in our new system to ensure people can use their gift cards and ALL THE NUMBERS in their report are wrong by 4 to 8 digits! How can you pretend to be a POS provider and not be accurate as much as this? Would NEVER recommend! Plus their customer service sucks, rarely get to speak to someone you can understand over the phone... very frustrating experience overall!
Clover billing practices are deceptive.
Any business using Clover should really dig into the billing they receive. I have been using clover for well over ten years. In July of 2018 someone at clover created a second (ghost) account under my merchant ID. I was unaware of this and was paying for both accounts ever since. I recently closed my business and therefor called clover to cancel my account which they said was done and there will be no more billing. However, on 1/12/26 I was billed $96.25. When I called they said that was for the second account that I did not know existed. So it was only at this point I became aware of the second account and attempted to have the funds returned. Clover said no!

Clover is the worst POS system I’ve
Clover is the worst POS system I’ve ever used. Most of the problems I’ve had revolve around processing multiple payments on an order, but sometimes I think no one who has built the platform has actually ever worked in a restaurant or used a register. When you try to request customer service they require a lot of information that they don’t need to actually process your call (the request for a customer service call back was sent via the POS terminal so that should really be all the verification they need, customer service is pretty obviously outsourced to a call center and not internal). Meanwhile you have a problem in real time, usually with a guest being pressed for time, but helping their clients doesn’t seem to be a priority for Clover. The field agents I’ve dealt with in person aren’t much better. They’ve been rude and showed little respect for a restaurant’s resources and need to be trained better if they are working in a customer facing position.
This process is confusing
This process is confusing. Seems to be poor formal training within your company. I would guess that clovers contact is not exactly customer service but more of a telemarketing group. Disappointing a little to be honest. Definitely lowers my trust in clover. 15 Reps I'm guessing their positions, blowing up my email and phone while I'm working with customers all with the same sales pitch and not 1 of them knew I had applied or been previously contacted. Just simple telemarketers. Not good at all. No structural employee training . Sorry, but this is the truth and I do not enjoy putting this review out there. #truth
False promises
The sales process was very smooth and full of reassuring promises, but once you are signed up, the reality is completely different. What is said to get you on board is not honoured later, and customer support is unhelpful when you actually need flexibility or understanding.
I would strongly advise other business owners to be cautious and not rely on verbal promises. Make sure everything is confirmed in writing before proceeding.
Very disappointing experience.

Horrible experience bordering on thievery
Horrible experience. Still waiting on credit card deposits we processed a month ago to post to our account. Just spent an hour on the phone with them only to be told our account had been closed (without notice) on 1/6 and the funds from deposits in late December would be now held for AT LEAST 90 days and possibly up to 6 months. This was after our account rep told us on 12/31 that we would receive the funds in 2-3 days...Rep was pleasant enough on the phone but doesn't change the end result
clover is terrible
hot garbage worst communication i have ever had with any company they do not deserve 1 star. I award them no stars and wouldn't refer anyone to this company HOT Garbage. t
A good company for small businesses
I sell a single product out of my home, making mine a very small business with no direct customer contacts. My orders come via telephone, email and postal mail. Clover provides the service I need to be able to accept credit cards in payment for my product. I use their online virtual terminal so I have no equipment costs. They adjusted my monthly fee for the size of my business and the fact that I sell only 6 months out of the year. Clover is a customer-caring company that is easy to work with. I recommend it highly
Operations Manager
The experience was great because of clear communication, a supportive team and efficient processes. The company does an excellent job fostering collaboration, and maintaining high standards of work.
Gift Gift Card System Unusable for 2 Weeks…
We have Clover at two of our bakeshops and during the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 season, we could not use our gift card system for 2 weeks. To my shock they had no tech support during the holiday and no one could resolve the issue. We lost thousands of dollars and new customers, because of this issue.
When we asked for compensation or cancellation of the contract, they told us basically that they would not honor that request; however the account manager offered $500 as a compensation payable in 6 months. I lost my temper at that offer.
Like all the reviews I read about them and our experience, I can definitely agree that they are accurate. This company is probably the worst POS company and an extremely unreliable service provider . Their tech support and customer service is a joke.
I would recommend to stay away from this company, unless you want to experience incredible frustration and loss of money to your business.
Stay away from Clover
We got a Clover POS through our business account with KeyBank. After some time, we decided to switch to Square and deactivated the system. However, we were still required to pay a $47 monthly lease fee despite no longer using the device.
We tried repeatedly to find someone to transfer the lease, with no success for a long time. When we finally did find someone, we were then told we must pay an additional $150 transfer fee.
This leasing arrangement is extremely inflexible and costly, even after you stop using the service. Very frustrating experience. I strongly recommend staying away
Don't use clover if you sell jewelry
Don't use clover if you are a small retail business, specifically a jewelry store. Clover is very limited and if you need any sort of normal feature that one needs to run a business you have to download a 3rd party app and pay for a subscription for them all in order to function. Clover doesn't allow exchanges unless they're of the same value. If you do a refund it doesn't adjust the item quantity to indicate it's back in stock. There isn't a way to track an item's history, yes it shows the date it's entered but if you make an edit to it, that date disappears, there is no item history. If you want to print inventory labels you have to download a third party app and it's another whole monthly expense.
