Great night at cosmos Doncaster
A Fantastic experience at cosmos Doncaster.
Booked in for the 5.30 session upon arrival was swiftly shown to our table made to feel really welcome by the staff who always had time to answer our queeries as it was our first time visiting cosmo,s
The dinning table we was seated at was comfy and well lit and very clean.
The choice of food was mind blowing and didnt taste 80 percent of it as there was so much choice.
most of the food was warm not hot so chose very carefully based on my system isnt as robust as it used to be.
The food i did eat was well made and tasty delivering a sense of satisfaction at our table.
Loved the chinese, indian and the italian sections of which i tried to taste a little of each.
Both myself and my party enjoyed the sweet selection too creating a fantastic end to the evening.
Only real negatives for our first visit to cosmos was the drinks prices so 3 lattes and a bottomless drink came to £15 which i felt was a little extreme. Also the plate collectors/waiting staff were constantly trying to engage in conversation at first it was nice after an hour i just got up and walked away. Probably just trying to do their job i suppose didnt let it spoil the evening but something to note for the owners.
All in all a 7.5 out of 10 for the evening and will return at some point.
My husband booked this place
My husband booked this place
3weeks ago
We turn up get told to queue
In the pre booked lane but the joke was the guy decide because there were bigger groups in the walkin side he allowed them in first
So I said this is unfair as this side have all booked
But you are taking walk-ins first
The man said calm down you will get in soon oh and happy mother's Day
So why have a booking system if walk-in come first
At the time of queuing over 15mins
A gentleman came from the restaurant saying don't bother its words I couldn't repeat
So I got abit worried but my husband said it will be ok
But I have to agree with the gentleman
The food was limited
Meat was poor beef was just bits of fat chicken just bones
All hot food was cold
And a joke £9.40 for 2small glasses of shady.
Desert section poor to
It advertised sections of different cheese all there was process sliced cheese for beef burgers
A joke
So save your £20.99 a person
The old Restaurant Days that was
there
Was 110% better
Absolutely appalling- made me sick- AVOID!
Little Cosmo, Newcastle-
We thought we would try Little Cosmo before attending a concert as we missed the old Za Za Bazzar in The Gate and hoped that we might enjoy having another world buffet to eat at. How wrong we were!
We had booked ahead and were greeted by a poor girl who looked absolutely indifferent and sick of her life. She seated us and said that someone would come and take our drinks order and payment. This took ages, leaving us just sitting there looking at each other and wondering if anyone was going to bother. Eventually a Chinese girl came over and though she clearly had almost zero English, managed to take our order with some pointing at her screen.
Finally I could go and look at this supposed 'world buffet' which turned out to be a row of supposedly Indian dishes on one side, and Chinese on the other. There were other bits and pieces around, but little of it appealed. Being a curry fan, I went for the Indian and started with a 'chicken masala'.
The chicken was quite hard, meaning that it was overcooked, old, or both, and the sauce was barely there- think of the juice from a can of tomatoes tipped over some rubbery chicken and you won't be far off. Whatever it tasted of, it wasn't 'curry'.
Next I tried a lamb dish, though it was unlabelled. This turned out to be random lumps of mutton, some extremely chewy, in virtually no sauce at all. This felt 'wrong' as I went on, so I left the rest of it. With nothing else appealing to me I went back to the 'chicken masala' as it had been freshly replenished, but this was still the same very poor quality.
I had one dish of dessert- a couple of little squares of cake and some ice-cream. This is just from one of those whippy machines and as we were sat near it we saw endless people struggle to get anything out of it at all. I avoided the chocolate fountain- there were too many children playing with it and the dishes of Haribo type sweets.
My partner had chosen primarily chinese, and commented that the 'chicken' in the sweet and sour was very poor- it 'tasted funny'.
Overall the place was very noisy, too- between that and the ticking clock from when they seat you, there's no relaxation here at all. It is a meat market of noise and activity.
With our time up(!) and not feeling great we headed on our way towards our venue, cutting through Eldon Square; passing the toilets I knew where my unsettled feeling was heading and sure enough, the whole lot came back out again in one huge hit. I have a very solid constitution and really can eat anything, so for me to throw it all back up was very telling. Fortunately, that was that and there were no further ill effects.
So, to sum up- poor staff, very expensive, noisy surroundings, and most fundamental of all, incredibly poor quality tasteless food that immediately made me ill.
Avoid at all costs!
Hidden Service Charge and Rude Staff
I booked this restaurant for my family for my dad's birthday and he is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.
As he had a chemo session on 16th Feb I booked a table for afterwards to cheer him up.
I put on the booking that it was my dad's birthday but nothing was said when we arrived.
When I payed the bill for 4 people upfront I queried the amount charged as I was not given an itemised bill just the amount owing. I was taken aback to see I'd been charged a service charge before I'd even received any service! I was then told that this was optional but if you don't tell people about it how on earth is it optional? I asked for the charge to be removed as I completely disagree with the way it is hidden from customers.
We were enjoying our meal but the dirty plates were stacking up on the table and no one was clearing them. We waited white a while and eventually I cleared the plates myself onto another table.
A little while later a waitress came over to the table and said to me,quite aggressively, don't put the plates on another table, I will get to them. When I explained we had been sitting with dirty plates for quite a while and no one had been to clear them meaning we couldn't continue our meal she snapped that she was on a break.
Without the benefit of being clairvoyant how on earth were we supposed to know? You have a time limit on your table anyway so are you supposed to sit at a table piled with dirty plates and not get anything else from the buffet?
She then made a point of clearing the table, removing everyone's dirty plates except mine which she left.
The experience really upset my dad on his birthday. When you are undergoing chemo the last thing you need is a surly and rude server. This lady has no place whatsoever in the hospitality industry and ruined what should have been a happy occasion.
She was large build with tight clothing and dirty blonde hair so you are aware of who she is. I would like to add we came to this restaurant the week before and the waitress we had, young black, was an absolute delight and the polar opposite to the experience on the night in question.
Ruined my birthday
I went to Cosmo with my family for my birthday on Saturday evening. When we got there is was extremely busy and we had to wait in the very crowded reception area for 20 minutes. We were eventually seated and paid for the meal (customers must pay before eating). We finished our meal and were chatting, when a male member of staff came over and told my husband we had to leave because they needed the table and that we were only allowed to stay until 7.45. My husband explained that we had been kept waiting for 20 minutes, so the staff member grudgingly said we could have a bit longer. However, all nine of us had finished eating and we were preparing to leave anyway. A few minutes later, a young waitress came over and asked us to leave again. I told her that this was very rude and that I wanted to see the manager. She looked terrified and did not move. I got up and walked over to the man that sent her and told him that he was extremely rude and that I would not be returning. He said "that's fine" and made no attempt to apologise. This restaurant clearly crams as many people in as possible and this results in a hot, stuffy and stressful atmosphere. The toilets are filthy and the young waitresses are under intolerable pressure. My advice is; let less people in and put the focus on the customer having a pleasant experience. Although the food is nice and my children like it, I will never go again. Customer service is non existent.
Disgusting and unedible
Indo- Chinese is what we ordered. I've been living in the UK for past 3 years and I haven't eaten food like this.
Expensive but not upto the standard.
Dishes order:
Papri Chat- okay, but very less yogurt to go with.
Hakka Noodles: never in my life I've eaten such hakka noodles. The most disgusting and unedible of all. So bland and tasteless that my 20 month old daughter refused to eat it.
Chilly chicken- okay
Mix grill- extremely salty, fish pakora tastless, lamb chops burnt, chicken tikka tasteless
In all tasteless food. Doubt, I would recommend them to anyone.
Also, they haven't updated their prices on their website, so be careful when you order food
Had a nice night out at Cosmos Glasgow Silverburn
Had a nice night out at Cosmos Silverburn Glasgow.
The food was good but the staff are friendly and caring. Our waitress Rachel was very consistent making sure we were looked after and making the experience more enjoyable
The worst experience ever!
The worst experience ever!
We walked-in, and was told that would need to wait up to half hour. It was earlier than we expected to sit down and eat. However, the worst part was they asked us to leave within 10mins while we started enjoying the food after We just sat for about 50mins. There were lot of people queuing up for food, thus we did not have much in this 50mins. The staff claimed that they has a policy that walk in customer
Will only have 1 hour, and urged us leave within 10mins.
We did not see any notice and were not told that they have such policy. If we knew that we needed to pay over £20 per head, we wouldn't have decided to dine in and put up with such ridiculous policy!
We ended up poured food into our stomach! And it ruined our holiday!
Absolutely disgusting
Absolutely disgusting. Cross contaminating all of the meat by using the same spatula to fry the burgers, steaks, squid and other seafood. Surprised nobody has became seriously ill from this place. Vile.
Cosmo great food, value and atmosphere.
Cosmo at Coventry when it was opened I really enjoyed the food there and atmosphere. It was really enjoyable. Sadly it closed some years ago. 4 Stars for me because the choice of food, taste, value and atmosphere. All Great. For me there's still no place like it near me. 🤗👍
First visit to Cosmo
Choice and quality of food very good which, was plentiful despite the restaurant being very full, staff were friendly and professional even when we were half hour late for our booking, first visit with party of 12, everyone left very full and happy.
Newcastle restaurant
Would not recommend at all. Shown to our table is already an overstatement as the waiter ran off before we reached it, offering no drinks. The food selection was rubbish (cocktail sausages in a sweet & sour sauce being one) with baguettes in baskets ripped in chunks through the middle, a number of dishes without cards to explain what they were, trays sat without food throughout the whole of our time there & limited selection of sushi options, despite having lots of food labels on show for this section. The cook to order section offering food such as squid & gyozas was closed just after 8:30, despite the website stating that food will be removed at 9:15 (the chef asked me for the time, hence remembering how early it was closed). When heading back up at 8:45 for food, more dishes had been removed, way earlier than advertised. Wouldn’t return, even if it was half the price.
Inexperienced staff and over rated…
Inexperienced staff and over rated food. Not worth the effort.
Seriously ! Give it a BIG MISS ! UPDATE THEY HAVE NOW CLOSED !
UPDATE ! WELL WHAT A SURPRISE THEY HAVE NOW CLOSED SHOP !
Cosmo Eastbourne,Been going there since it opened more than 10 years ago and watched it gradually deteriorate!
No Salad! Two disgraceful boxes of ice cream real old looking and as for the main selection such as prawns ! and this was at opening time remember! Just 8 prawns
and not even fresh ! 8 very old sad looking dried up ribs and genuinely a poor very unappetising selection, Adding to that it was very cold in there and quite grubby, particularly on the inside window ledges which needed attending to the previous time we went there before the pandemic! It is so sad that they have let this once superb restaurant deteriorate so much.
And all this for £12.99! What a complete rip-off! AVOID!
Beautiful restaurant
Beautiful restaurant, food that I managed to get was really nice. There didn't seem to be enough staff. You wait quite a while for drinks, food running very low, if you asked staff to get something for you expect to wait a while.
Cosmo Newcastle
Cosmo Newcastle.
Lovely defo and very bright area where the food is located. Staff very friendly. Food was nice. Nothing to rave about but good variety and seafood was great. Prawns were huge and cooked lovely.
Staff were not very attentive to clearing plates so I found myself with a pile of plates while trying to eat. We went at 4 and there wasn’t any bread out and a few items were not replenished but I figured out this was due to the dinner service starting. This shouldn’t have affected the amount of food though as there still should of been a restock on all items. Guy on the grill had a language barrier. Asked for squid and scallop, got steak and scallop.
We had a lovely afternoon and the food was good, it’s a new restaurant so I understand teething problems and the price is ok £18.99 but the sushi prawns and choice of grill is why this is so pricey for a buffet. However having bottomless drink option is really good £3.95 so this helps I think when you have a large family.
Service was awful
Cosmo Romford
Cosmo Romford
I have waited an hour on the phone and still on hold just to do a party booking. Very Awful
Always good service
Always good service, selection is good Indian Chinese barbecue grill etc but is getting a bit expensive now though.
We usually use either the Sheffield or Doncaster branch, Only bad thing about Sheffield is the seating is very close together
