Worst site I’ve ever experienced
Worst site I’ve ever experienced!
Was booked for a Monday to Friday trip, arrived to no parking anywhere near the caravan ( not have a fault quite a few cars ) however lots of them were parked over two bays causing the issue and none of the staff were willing to locate owners to get them to move into bays, the caravan itself was filthy!! There was actually a dirty stained mattress just laying on the grass outside it. You couldn’t see out the windows for dirt and grime, almost all the caravans need a good power wash. The staff at the customer service desk are horrendous! Not even an apology to the multiple people there complaining how dirty everything is. I travelled over four hours for a wasted trip with toddlers and all their response was well go home and we will refund you in 28 days. Never again even consider booking there, haven have many good clean sites but this isn’t one of them
Just returned from a 7 night stay at…
Just returned from a 7 night stay at Craig Tara, have come away with a mix of pros and cons.
Dog friendly apartment was appreciated as it allowed us to bring along our dog, we went in not expecting much in terms of high end as obviously it was dog friendly. The apartment was clean and tidy upon arrival with the beds all made up, our master bedroom mattress was amazing, memory foam mattress, I slept like a baby. Unfortunately for my eldest son the pull out sofa bed was unusable, the mattress with it was stained and too skinny to even be classed as a mattress. He slept on the sofa the first night and we then did abit of swapping and changing and had two younger kids share a bed and brought the other one into the sitting area for him to sleep on.
Apartment came equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen for 6 minus an oven glove and tea towels so please remember to bring your own.
We were 1st floor and the metal stairs could be dangerous, my son fell down them on the first night and the dog was far from keen using them. The entrance led to a door which was accessible to two first floor apartments which can cause problems with ensuring the outer door is secure on a night, own apartments do have key locks so isn’t the end of the world as long as you remember to lock your own.
Plenty of places to eat, the restaurant on the face of it appears to be very reasonably priced but the food leaves a lot to be desired. We bought 3 adult meals and got 3 kids meals for £1 each, the kids meals are the tiniest portions I have ever seen in my life, Think one already mini corn on the cob cut into 4 pieces, a burger about 5cms wide and about 6 chips.
Activities, we pretty much had a go at most of the activities and whilst some felt like good value for money some less so.
The jump, the drop and mini aerial adventures all felt like great value for money £10-£12 each. The nerf battle at £10 per person felt overpriced when registering 6 people for it. Mini golf felt dated and the equipment had seen better days, no score cards and the whole thing just felt neglected.
The entertainment rooms whilst they look the part don’t really make much sense 80% of the seats and tables are high and the chairs are backless which isn’t great for most. If your not there early enough to get the few seats around the front your in for an uncomfortable night. Prices of the beer are what you’d expect from somewhere like this at £6 a pint. Soft drinks at £3.95 hurt much more.
The park and outdoor football pitch are a great way to spend some time not spending money as well as the soft play. Also great access to the beach but as we visited in March it was just a place I took the dog rather than the kids.
Unfortunately I didn’t find any indoor areas of the park to be dog friendly, I appreciate not everyone wants dogs around but even just a small area somewhere indoors would have been nice during the constant rain we had.
All in all it’s what I expected it to be, it cost me a fortune all in and in hindsight I could have gone abroad for what I spent. The younger two kids had a blast with all the activities but again given the choice they’d probably also choose somewhere all inclusive with the sun.
Don’t be sucked in with the cheap price of the accommodation as we were, understand this holiday will cost you a fortune if your plan is to emerse yourself in it.
Between constant domestics and caravans…
Between constant domestics and caravans being busted for drugs this is hell on earth.

Got to be the worst caravan park out…
Got to be the worst caravan park out there.we hired a privately owned caravan which was really nice and advised by Haven to take passes in correspondence, After purchasing two for our Grand kids not one activity could be booked for them on site £160
wasted. Really before allowing a booking on their website they’re system knows activities are fully booked. Two pool visits for our money. This aside the place is not the cleanest with overcrowded pool changing areas that stink Bonga Wonga with its stick to floor that stinks and Brigs of Ayr Restaurant with no food at 6pm. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place you’ll do your health and wallet a service.
Brigs of Ayr worst ever restaurant
Brigs of Ayr worst ever restaurant, ordered sunday dinner charges full price, half the food wasnt on plate but still charged full price for the food we didn't get and wasnt informed when ordering that they didnt have it, when we asked about the missing food we where told none left, only being 2 hrs into lunch during peek season? the food we did did get was hard and under cooked or burnt. We asked to speak to manager and was told we need to go to him and complain as he didnt want to speak to us. When we did speak to him he was very hostile and aggressive and unsympathetic to us shouting "what you want me to do about it?" No customer service skills if i spoke like that to a customer i would be sacked on the spot. If he spoke like that to me outside he would be wearing his balls for earings his attitude was appalling. AVOID this place.Show
Horrific experience.
This was the very first trip my family took with the family as money has always been very tight. I sit in my flat on the park day 5 out of day 7 in tears and wanting to go home but don't want to break my kids hearts. Day 1 book in time was between 5 and 6 in the evening. Although we paid for Monday we were only allowed to enter at 3 pm and access what the park has to offer. The first night while waiting to get into our room, we went to the restaurant and was turned away saying that they had an unfortunate in their kitchen and wasn't taking walk-ins. Although I had 4 children ranging from 1 to 11. Spent most of the day in the car driving here. All hungry and tired. Wedidnt have any bedding for our daughter which we needed and asked for numerous of times. We never received bedding that night so daughter had to sleep in our bed and we took the couches. The next day we complained about the service and were given 50 pound in vouchers to use at the restaurant. Couldn't get into any free activities on the park as all fully booked. So all activities we did for the kids had to be payed for. Ridiculous considering how much we payed for this holiday and still not even one free activity for the kids. So day two we tried to book into the restaurant and eventually got in at 7pm on that evening cause again not taking walk ins even though they said online they are. But cannot book a table online at all. The next morning we decided to take a walk down to the beach and find things at the park to do for the kids. We tried to get into the restaurant in the morning for breakfast. Restaurant was empty but still turned away cause we had to book although couldn't book as bookings taken down online so had to book in person but all bookings were for later. Along with other customers we complained to management of restaurant and eventually and 1030 they gave us all a table. Kids by this time, starving. While at the restaurant we watched the manager on her phone in the corner throughout our whole meal. They forgot some of our meal which we asked for but brought only when everyone had finished eating. Horrible experience. That evening, after watching some mediocre at best entertainment and letting the kids play on the jungle gym, we ordered from chopstix. Yet another food place on the park. The order was wrong but couldn't call anyone to complain as no numbers to call and reception had been closed-9pm at night. The next day we were woken but our fire alarms going off and then we decided for a chilled out day and didn't go anywhere just spent time at the flat. And at the park. Day 5 today comes around and we decide to go down and try our luck again after our hot water went off in the apartment. Our first stop Millie's- machine was broken so no Millie's. Then we went for a drink at the outside bar and let the kids play were all tables were being hounded by wasps. We ordered drinks didn't realise how bad the wasps were until we sat down. With two minutes of being at the table our drinks had wasps in them and my 1 year old had been stung. We hurried out of there. We then went to play in the arcades. Where the ATMs were all down except a machine inside. We used the machine and money was taken out my account and had not received the coins in cash. After speaking to a member of staff the informed us that our money would take up to 5 working days to be returned to our accounts. We went to complain for a second time to which the lady at reception was absolutely horrified and management then proceeded to tell her that she were tell us that there was nothing more they could do except forward our complaints on to the various departments within the park. And we could hand our keys in if we wanted to leave and speak to head office to try get some recuperation back. My family and I have literally thrown away a lot of money that we battled to pay to give these kids a holiday. It has been such a let down. Management didn't even have the integrity to come out and talk to us just sent his/her staff around to talk to us. It's been appalling. I will honestly never return. Owners on the park we have been speaking to have said the park has declined over the years. And I only wish we had known as I would have booked elsewhere and for a lot cheaper than what I payed.
Great weekend
Just recently had a 3days weekend with my wife & 2 kids, booked through Haven. We stayed in Standard caravan which was very clean, neat, it actually looked new. It had 2 bedrooms (1 with a double bed & another with 2 singles for the kids) which were very comfortable. So we were really happy with the accommodation. Even though it didn't have wifi but tv worked fine on terrestrial. Our caravan was also close to the beach so we enjoyed morning walks along the seaside
The site had a fun fayre, swimming pool, hall with on-going shows, crazy golf, wall climb'n & arcade room just to mention a few things that kept the kids entertained.
There are also resturtants including Papa Jones pizza & a local Nisa shop.
We really had a great time so i will strongly recommend any family to pay Craig Tara a visit & enjoy its hospitality
Great place
Great place! My gran has a caravan there I would always come on summers for holiday it was great! Unfortunately she had to sell the caravan due it was to much for house and money for caravan, I will miss it.
(But hits recently I have noticed that they are making new buildings in the park and it’s taking long like some not bulit in 2 years but I think it is 4/5 for now.
