I sent back an item at the beginning of February and had no correspondence from DD apart from auto generated tickets and no refund. After a few emails eventually with customer services I find out today that the item has been rejected for return due to marks on the gusset. Fair enough they sent photos and this is the case (my DD must have tried it on without pants and maybe there was no hygeine strip - I never noticed when I returned it) but it took 6 weeks to get that information and loads of emails.

They don't know one size from the next.
Website says one size the shoe size that comes is another neither are correct. So it boils down to ordering your shoes and seeing what you get.
But the worst thing is if the size is wrong (which it is very likely to be as Dance Direct admits that all manufacturers' sizes are different) they will charge you for the postage.
Better to use a company with a free returns policy that can describe their produce correctly.

Very poor! Ordered 3 pairs of dance shoes and the ballet shoes that I ordered were advertised with the wrong picture therefore were the incorrect shoe. Emailed customer services and was told to send them back as they did “free returns”. I complained that if I ordered new ones I would now have to pay postage and there was no acknowledgment of this from customer services. I even had to send two emails to get a response. This has been a huge inconvenience and I feel customer services are not bothered about keeping customers. Definitely will not use again.

I should have checked Trustpilot before ordering... They show reviews of their products on their website, but it turns out they filter them and only show the reviews of 4 stars or higher!!! This defeats the whole point of showing reviews of a product and makes it completely untrustworthy.
I ordered a mystery bag for size S, the product description described size S to translate to UK size 8 (clothing size). In the bag I received an item which was related to shoe size, where size S translated to shoe size UK 1.5-2.5, which was way too small for me and obviously not related to clothes size. You shouldn't include items based on a completely different measurement (shoe vs clothes) in a mystery bag. I could have received 5 items with "shoe size S" and the entire bag would have been worthless to me. I asked customer support if they could send me the correct shoe size item instead, or send me a different "surprise" item. Jennifer first replied that they'd request another item to be sent out and when I didn't hear anything for a while and asked for an update she said they couldn't send out a replacement item. Saying that they sent out the correct size... so expecting everyone with size S to have the same exact size feet? They also mentioned that the mystery bag's description mentions "leotards, tights and/or other dancewear". I would expect other dancewear to be hair accessories or toe spacers, if it does include footwear you should be able to select your shoe size as well as your clothes size when purchasing this mystery bag. All in all, very disappointing customer service and not taking responsibility at all - as well as hiding other bad reviews of the mystery bag on the product page.

The item that translates size S to shoe size 1.5/2.5 UK is Bloch Soleil Foot Glove. And I am not talking about overall website reviews, I'm talking about product specific reviews. Those are filtered on your product pages to only show 4 stars or higher... Also your overall ratings on (independent) Trustpilot are much worse, 32% one star reviews.

Bad shopping experience. The size of the tutu is not fit as mentioned in the size guide. When I raise refund, the appointed forwarder does not provided packing material as per request. I was told to put the tracking label on the carriage bag. However, Dance Direct reject the refund because of the label.
Probably, I lose the right of refund based on their T&C. When I ask for solution for any flexibility on my case, I cannot get any... My feeling is... they are making excuse on not providing refund. The refund is very difficult and disappointed.

This review is a last ditch attempt to get a response from this company before I peruse alternatives.
After having discussed with the company that to save time I’d like to order two sizes of the same thing and return the one that wasn’t needed to which they were quick to reply stating that was okay I went ahead and made an order.
When order arrived the first one tried on was absolutely fine so didn’t even bother opening the second one and sent back using the companies return label and tracking.
A week later the tracking confirmed the item had been delivered back to the company.
A week after that still no refund so I emailed the company to which I received no reply.
Again a week later I sent another email and still received no reply.
So far I have sent 3 emails and time lapsed is around 4 weeks.
They have no telephone number to ring only and email. I have even added my telephone number for them to call me.
Going to give it one more day before perusing alternative action.
Such a shame as I would have given 5 star as the delivery and quality of product was great however this experience is now awful as they have the product and my money!! Basically they currently have stolen my money, no other way of looking at it.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Isn’t it amazing what a negative review on trustpilot does! After weeks of ignoring my emails; as soon as I put the negative review they replied within hours and miraculously the refund has appeared on my account today! Terrible that it took this method to get a response; they need to really improve on their customer service. Such a shame when the products are nice.

I ordered a pair of dance shoes from DD on 6 February. The shipping time frame was 3-5 days. I emailed to chase them on 15 Feb and was told that it was a drop ship item and I needed to wait 14 days. I still haven't received a shipping update or my shoes as of 28 March. I have emailed again to chase up the shoes and/or request a refund and so far have had nothing back but tumbleweeds. I am not confident that I will receive either a refund or any shoes. Please don’t use this company- there are plenty of other better options.
Update 1 April - Have contacted Dance Direct via their contact form as email address doesn't appear to be working (although I assume it would be connected to their email inbox anyway). Tried to use quick chat function on their website. Pressed it several times and it doesn't work. No response, no shoes, no update whatsoever.
Awful at returns BEWARE! I have returned some items on 5th February this year and it's now 28th and I am still awaiting a refund. I got a response straight away when I queried this asking me to wait 14 days. Got another response asking me for the tracking number once I had waited 14 details and had contacted them again. I provided the tracking number which showed it was delivered on 5th Feb using their printed label and now I am getting no response. I have emailed on 22/2 and 25/5 and messaged them on the website and have had no response. What a let down. I will now need to contact my credit card company to intervene. Use credit card when paying as this company obviously cannot be trusted. Also, my orders are not showing on the web page when i sign in which is also a bad sign. I need to check my emails for the order details. Stay away as who has time for this S+it!

I was charged 32 euros import duty on a 99 euro order. I live in Spain, the only reason I bought from ti's company is because the website was a .eu site. Do not order from Dance Direct if you live outside the UK.

Bought tap shoes for my daughter. They were very poor put together the heels were wider than the shoe. You could also see all the glue at the front of the shoe. I suppose you get what you pay for as they were in the sale.

Ok there website is great and they have a great range of shoes but your service is absolutely rubbish!! I waited a week for a delivery or even dispatch Emil to then receive an email saying they can’t ship it to me brocade it’s been discontinued also if it was out of stock then make it clear on the website !! Now waiting for a refund :( a shame

Sent item for exchanged and arrived 29/10/20 Emailed them 2 weeks later to find out whats happening, told slight delays. Now over a month since the item I sent to be exchanged has been reciepted and still nothing.
No response to emails either.
One star for quality of goods and second star for tracked free returns. -3 stars for poor customer service and having my money and me not having anything to show for it.
Will pursue with Paypal now as it seems this is common practice even in years without covid-19

Contact them 5 times to get automated messages after 6 weeks email to advise I would be opening an PayPal case . Once this was opened, sell delayed replying to PayPal still not got my refund and it now November!! It’s only now PayPal are involved and that the seller is refunding.
There is no excuse for this kind of service .
They are just holding everyone’s money longer for there own gain . No one has a delay of 2-3 months !!!
This is an embarrassment to then cause hardship for customers who are struggling too!!! . I am a single parent and was awaiting the Refund to purchase another item.
This in turn caused problems above and for my 16years daughters first day in her dance collage . Be careful people if you purchase and have to return be prepared for a very very long wait for your money back .

You could quite easily have delt with this once the case was opened . It does not take 2months to locate a return . If you was that bothered about your customers and Have the tracking date of return etc how can you not even try to locate the return to refund . I own have owned my own business before and know enough with delays with delivery’s or refunds . I refund as orders come back in to me . Your company could quite easily have up dated your website to advise refunds would take longer than 14 days and up to 2-3 months ,It’s not that hard .
At least that would give your customers an option to purchase else where due to your delays .
There is not excuse for this type of behaviour as this does not show you care at all .
We are just £s to you not a customer .
I have been in customer service 30 years and never see this lack of decency.
We are the ones that keep your business open remember!!!

If I could give no stars I would. First of all the delivery was very very late, by which I had to call everyday to ensure someone was actually dealing with it and finally it was dispatched. (The lady I spoke to on the phone was very nice) By the time it took for them to send it out I had already brought and received the items from another website.
My second issue then come with their extremely long refund time scale. I was told it would take a little longer due to COVID which I understand, but the parcel arrived at Dance Direct on the 1st October and I am still yet to receive an acknowledgment that they have my parcel and are processing my refund. Again I have chased this just to be sent the same generic email that it is taking longer due to COVID. Would definitely not recommend due to the length of time it had taken for my delivery and for a refund

Great skirt. Proper RAD character skirt . Good size guide. Refreshing that it went up to the required size. We had tried buying a skirt that looked similar from another vendor but was so much smaller, shorter and entirely different in style when it arrived. Thanks - it was a relief to find the real thing. This was the only seller I could find offering up to a size 30-32 inch waist.

Unfortunately on this occasion the customer service was not up to scratch. I returned the item as it didn't fit within the time guidelines but it took me 2 months and 2 complaints before I got my money back.
I needed dance shoes within just over 2 weeks. Website showed a number of items that when put in basket the prices more than doubled. I realise that different sizes incur different prices but, when I checked, all sizes came in at the inflated prices. Very misleading to tempt customers that way. I did find a suitable pair of jazz trainers available in stock in my size with delivery shown as lead time of 5-7 days. Have now received an email - over a week later- saying they were not in stock. Their website stock size availability is obviously incorrect and I cannot understand why it has taken them so long to let me know. Now too late to get any alternative shoes (they suggested ordering a different style) and I really needed some. Hopefully they will be quicker to refund me. Overall a really bad experience.
