Good service, bike not so much

Sent to my home address quickly. However putting the bike (Viking Richmond) together was horrible! I have managed to put it together but it's not sturdy! Let a bike mechanic assemble it!

My friend who had even more trouble with the bike wanted to send it back and get a refund. The company had no problem with it and they were very easy going about it.

Terrible delivery partner and additional build costs

I had so many problems with Yodel and lost lots of money (I am self employed) waiting at home 3 days with no delivery as promised. Then I went to pick the bike up myself and was told it was on the way to my home address!!! All very stressful. Discover cycling showed limited concern. I was offered £10 refund as compensation but never actually received it.

The bike itself came with poor build instructions. The kick stand was too big(long) for the bike and it fell over each time. The seat post needed some welding work as it was too small and didn't grip. I needed a new front brake cable. I spent £55 getting all this fixed by another bike shop. Now it has been fixed the bike is running fine and does look good!

Sale bike success

I was looking for a road bike on budget and found a Dawes 300 giro on sale at 'discover cycling' at a very competitive price. Bought the bike on a Saturday and was delighted to receive on the following Tuesday morning. The bike itself was great (a Dawes Giro 300) .With a high specification of parts compared to other bikes in the same price bracket. Downsides only being that it had a little discolouration on the chain wheel and chain. This was no doubt due to the length of time the bike had been in storage as it was a previous years model. Another small discrepancy was that the brakes that came fitted to the bike were not as had been advertised on the web advert.

Overall I am delighted with the product and would use the supplier in full confidence in the future.

First Class online retail experience

Five star online shopping experience with Discover Cycling. First time I've used them but the product was the best price I could find on the net and the reviews for service and delivery were all positive. Ordered a junior bike via the easily navigated website, straight forward payment and immediate confirmation of order. Excellent email communication from order right through to delivery stage. I love being able to access tracking of my purchases - it just takes the stress out of wondering when things will arrive. Delivery was within the dates stated and the parcel was well packaged and secure. The bike needs assembling (partially done) but the website provides a good little manual for a step by step guide to doing this so it should be easily done. Everything went well with this purchase and I would definitely use Discover Cycling again and recommend them to others (in fact I have already told a good friend who is looking for a new bike)!

purchase of whistle miwok 24 speed mountain bike

i ordered and purchased a white/red whistle miwok hard tail mountain bike from discover cycling and am so pleased with the bike, its punching well above its purchase price! ,. what a bike and prompt delivery all i had to do was attach the pedals starlight and align handle bars tighten up a few nuts and it was ready to go . absolutist love my bike would recommend you to any one 5stars

Complete and utter rubbish company, do not go anywhere near this company

Failed to deliver my bike order after 6 weeks, as their computer system messed up on the delivery address even though it was typed in properly but still they sent out a bike twice to the courier with an address that was a combination of the billing address and the delivery address. Response? oh computer had a glitch, no apology. I had to force them to apologise, they took two weeks to give me a refund when I cancelled the order as they needed to wait until courier confirmed that they had lost the first bike in their depot somewhere. I was promised that someone senior would call me back and address my complaint but no one did despite chasing. They clearly do not care at all about customer service. Do not think about ordering from them. I ordered the bike for my son's birthday but having took 6 weeks messing me about, he was very disappointed that his birthday came and went and still no bike! I cancelled order, ordered from Evans Cycles and they delivered exactly as promised within 24 hours - great customer service from Evans cycles..

I will buy my bike from a shop next time

Unfortunately when my bike arrived it was a different colour to the colour it was on the website. I contacted the company and spoke to someone who said it wasn't a problem and they would collect it for me, they arranged a day and time for collection. Then no one showed to collect the item and i had to contact the company again- this person was not so helpful or polite and I had to recontact the company several times to re arrange a new collection day which I had to pay £30 for. When I looked in the shops I found that the bike hadn't even been vastly cheaper than buying a bike from a shop. It is a shame and I won't be buying bikes online ever again.

cheating lying dodgy company. do not trust!

Do not trust this company. They are rude, unresponsiv, unhelpful, unprofessional and just useless in every way. I ordered a bike from them and I never received it. They quite happily took me 220 quid but when I questioned the whereabouts of my bike? They had no idea and just blamed it on the delivery company. When I phoned the delivery company they blamed it on Discover Cycling. I spoke to the "manager" Colin I think his name is - he was just downright rude. Wasting even more time trying to tell me how online shopping works. I've wasted so much money phoning this company trying to receive help and I've just been ignored. Don't even waste time trying to email Mathew, he's nowhere to be seen. Absolute Mickey mouse company. DO NOT TRUST

The first communication from our customer was by email at 09:32 on Monday 17th August stating she had already emailed and had tried to call twice but had received no response to establish what was happening with her order. The order was subsequently received at 10:15 the same day. We responded at 17:29 on the 17th confirming the email confirmation of the order had been supplied at the time of placing the order and sent a copy for reference. Our hours of opening are Monday to Friday 9am - 5.30pm, Our Standard delivery terms are stated to be 2 - 5 working days.

Successful orders appear in our system immediately and confirmation emails are automatically sent so we can only assume from this that the order had failed when the customer first processed; either through tender failure or user error.

We dispatched the customers order on the Wednesday 19th August through our carriers on a next day service. The customer was emailed with the online tracking information.

The customer contacted us on Monday the 24th August as the delivery had not been received. We contacted our carriers who confirmed the parcel had not been scanned in the last two days and they needed to investigate the status with the depot in question. The carriers ask for 24 hours to respond and this was communicated to the customer. The customer had emailed Matthew circa 11am that same day, but this was superseded by the later phone call.

The customer contacted us again through our online Live Chat facility at 09:53am on the 25th August to check on the position of the delivery, making no reference to the earlier discussions and when we tracked on their behalf to find the problem discovered the previous day, we explained we would need to contact the carriers at which point the customer expressed their dissatisfaction and terminated the Chat.

The customer then called our office and spoke to Colin circa 10am who explained we were in contact with the carriers and were awaiting response but had chased them explaining the urgency. The customer asked to cancel at this point and we have asked the carriers to return the order to our warehouse when located.

We will service circa 30,000 orders this year and en devour to provide a high quality of service to all our customers on occasion we will inevitably fall short of expectations but we will always work with our customer to resolve any issues that occur.

Our carriers successfully delivery against service level in over 95% of deliveries but on occasion they experience failures in the system and as on this occasion a parcel is temporarily lost. In these circumstances they interrogate their systems and liaise with the appropriate distribution depots, this can take time, 24hrs is not unusual or in our experience unreasonable in these circumstances.

Disgraceful customer service and communication!

I purchased a bike from them in April as they were very competitively priced and unfortunately it arrived damaged. They arranged collection of the bike eventually but the courier couldn't take it as there wasn't enough room. I contacted Discover Cycling to inform them of this and it wasn't until days later and a stern email that I received an email from them asking for my contact details (again) so another collection could be made. No attempt to contact me after I told them my details was made and as this situation was getting ridiculous and nobody returned emails etc I opened a dispute through PayPal and eventually got my money back, but I still had to fork out to send it back.

According to their Returns Policy it says 'Within 28 days from the date of receipt, we will pay your postage costs for the return (standard class of mailing, UK only) or arrange collection depending on the item concerned.' STILL WAITING!!!!!

I think they need to review their mission statement too:

I do a lot of online shopping and I think if I hadn't of used PayPal to pay for the item I'd still be waiting to have this issue resolved.
