I contacted them to cancel my breakdown…

I contacted them to cancel my breakdown cover last year as the car had been scrapped and had no response from them. Now they are trying to take not only a renewal fee but also an extra "guaranteed hire car" charge that I never agreed to - for a car that no longer exists!! I also did not - as far as I know, as you can't tell from the documentation - agree to automatic renewal. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Bunch of crooks

Took out breakdown cover last year, received an email with a reduced price to add a second vehicle to my policy which I did, I added my husband. One year later i get the renewal and cancel, check my bank less than a month later and the payments been taken. Little did I know instead of adding my husband to my policy they made a separate account and didnt tell us. When I queried the renewal I received an email telling me my account was in my husbands name when hes never dealt with them. To then find out the 2 renewals were both in my husbands car reg and not mine. We dont own either vehicle anymore. Told them all of the above and got a robotic email back. Tried calling but unless its for a breakdown they dont want to know, have now escalated this through the bank as fraud due to failure of communication and proof the renewal was cancelled weeks before the policy started. Would never use again and praying I get my money from the bank

Awful company.

Awful company.

Paid for gold insurance but they repeatedly declined the validation.

Were very rude when I emailed them.
Had to pay to cancel the policy but worth it.

I'm sure they would have found a reason not to honour a claim.

Do not buy cover from them, it will cost you.

Non existent customer service, stay well away!

I emailed them to let them know I had sold the car covered and would like to switch the details to our new car. I was told I’d need to follow a link given and start a new policy for a new car and the old one would be cancelled. Fine, did that, had an email confirmation.
Next thing I know, I’ve been charged £104 for the sold car for a renewed year. I’ve cancelled it (and paid another £15.99 to do so!) while contacting them twice now over around a week about a refund of the money charged and not a single reply. I’m so frustrated you can’t call and speak to anyone as they can basically just ignore you. Never again. Will always pay more and go with RAC or AA from now on - impecable service.

Criminal companies like this would prefer not to use telephone communications because a simple phone call will resolve the issue, amd then they won't receive they're additional charge/fee/bonus

Criminal companies like this are reluctant to using telephone. They have my mobile number, as a primary form of contact. Yet they will not use it but will issue charges and fee's for reasons they cooked upon themselves, no phone call to discuss supposed issues. Everything's done by Internet. And blame us for not keeping up to date, with the 1000s of emails we get every day.

I have sent multiple emails beggong for a phone call.

I have requested cancellation, but they keep sending bullshit emails that don't make sense, "cancel online" of which the web page does not give these options or links that they are telling me to follow.

Phone conversations do not seem to exists with these companies, because they know a simple phone call will resolve the issue, and then they won't get there additional bonus/charges

BEWARE!

BEWARE!! SCAMMERS!! Check, check and check again about auto-renewal! You can't speak to anyone and you get charged to cancel something you didn't sign up for.

completely flat battery…Dymano was the best

Coming back from a trip to a flat battery on your own driveway is a guaranteed way to ruin your morning, but Dynamo Breakdown completely turned it around! From the moment I reached out, the communication was excellent—I knew exactly when help was arriving, so I wasn't just sitting at the window stressing. True to their word, they were incredibly quick to get to my house. The person who came out was not only a total pro at getting my car running again, but genuinely kind, friendly, and reassuring. It’s rare to get such top-tier, human-centered service right at your doorstep. Huge thanks to the team for getting me moving again so smoothly. Highly recommend! 👏🔧 the recovery even called me the day after to check how i was doing. Prices for the service is so affordable too

Experience of breakdown cover

I have breakdown cover and had to make a claim recently (suspension issue, recovery to garage I'd called in advance). The hardest part was finding where to make a claim but that was probably just me preferring old school ways! I found a number, phoned up, got sent a text message immediately with a link to their online form. Got a response within minutes with an eta. When the eta had passed, Dynamo asked if the breakdown company had arrived, then provided a new eta. Car was recovered in this timeframe, by a good quality local provider. I also later had a missed call from Dynamo checking that the recovery went okay. Based on this experience, I would consider using Dynamo for breakdown cover again. I cannot comment on any other aspect of the cover.

Do not use this company!!!

I took out phone insurance in November 2024. All was fine until I was asked to renew in November 2025. They gave me a renewal price which I was happy with.
2 months later I noticed 2 payments had been taken each month from my account.
I logged in to dynamo and found they had not cancelled my previous insurance and had been billing me for 2.
I tried to call them but there was no way to speak to them.
I raised 2 tickets and sent an email but didn’t receive a response.
I cancelled both insurance but had been overcharged.
I thought all was finished but lo and behold I found they had also been charging me a third time through premium credit.
I cancelled that today and will now wait for them to contact me to ask me to pay for the whole term which obviously I will challenge.
If you want insurance with a company that you can speak to when you have problems don’t every use dynamo gadget insurance!!!!

Lone female - breakdown recovery

Not long after making call asking for assistance I was called by the company (Four Winds) who were coming out to see me. Within 40 minutes the guy arrived. He was extremely courteous, well mannered and listened to what I had to say. Whilst he was in situ I was called to see if he had arrived. The young man who came to my assistance was fantastic and a good advert for his trade. He then recovered my vehicle to a garage. Overall a v good experience. Would totally recommend Dynamo. Been with them for a while and always had good service from them.

Dark Patterns and deception

I’ve never experienced such deceptive practices from an insurance company.
There was absolutely no clear option to disable auto-renewal — a classic dark pattern designed to trap customers.
When my policy auto-renewed (despite no claims), the price doubled, and I immediately tried to cancel. Shockingly, my legal 14-day cooling-off period wasn’t honoured — I only received half my payment back.
Their responses were full of excuses and “contract terms,” but it’s obvious the system is built to mislead and extract more money from customers rather than offer genuine service.
Completely untrustworthy – avoid this company at all costs.

I would avoid like the plague

Be very careful with this company who love hiding behind the small print and additional charges. I took out a policy and within a few days decided to cancel and contacted them accordingly. I thought I would be covered under the distant selling regulations/cooling of period, but apparently not. The cancellation fee for having my policy for 2 days was more than the policy itself, so I decided just to let it run. A few weeks later I get an additional charge for 'non validation; which was the same cost as the policy itself. Just underhanded cowboy company that hide behind their small print

Good experience

Good experience. Waited nearly two hours, which was ok as I was at home but not sure how I would feel about that waiting time had I not been at home. The operative was very polite and had me on the road in less than 5 mins. So overall I’m pleased with the service and would be happy to recommend to family and friends.
