Avoid this company at all costs.

I booked a car expecting airport pickup in Bologna. Only a few days before my trip, I received an email informing me that I would need to take a shuttle bus to an off-airport location because they do not actually have an office at the airport. This was never made sufficiently clear during the booking process.

To make matters worse, their business model appears to be designed to penalise customers for circumstances that are often outside their control. You must collect the car within two hours of the reservation time, and there is no practical way to adjust the pickup time if your flight is delayed.

I was only one hour late and had already informed them that I was on my way. At no point did anyone warn me that I would lose my reservation if I arrived slightly outside their arbitrary time window.

When I finally reached their office, I was told that my reservation had expired. The car I had booked was still sitting in their car park, completely unused, but I was told I could not have it under my existing reservation. Instead, I would have to make a completely new booking at a significantly higher price because it would no longer qualify as an online reservation.

So let me summarise:

They kept all the money I had already paid.
The car was still available.
They refused to honour the reservation.
They tried to charge me even more for the exact same car.

This is one of the most customer-unfriendly experiences I have ever had with a car rental company. The entire process feels designed to maximise penalties and additional charges rather than help customers who are travelling and dealing with possible flight delays.

I will never use this company again, and I strongly recommend that others stay away unless they are prepared to accept the risk of losing their entire reservation and payment over a minor delay.

Incredibly bad customer service. We wanted to extend our car hire by 3 hours. Phone calls went to voice mail or were cut off. Sent an email no response. Finally got through and told very busy so send a WhatsApp. Nothing heard for an hour so further calls - after 2 hours were given a price of EUR50. For second car hired from SRC 3 hour extension was free after one simple call. While car was OK, customer service was terrible so suggest avoid EHC.

I booked a Toyota Proace City Verso rental car in the SVMR category: a car suitable for seven adults.
Upon delivery, I was given a Dacia Jogger station wagon in a 5+2 configuration with the back row seats only suitable for children.
I immediately pointed out the difference, but was told there were no other cars available.
The journey I took was therefore uncomfortable.

A nightmare for drivers. The girl at the counter invented a thousand reasons to take as much money from us as possible.
The deposit was not returned when she promised. Overall, extremely poor service.
Avoid at all costs.
Still waiting for them to return the deposit they took.

All good but need quicker process for car drop off as it took us around 25 mins for that process .

Very good experience.

When you return the car they start looking and inventing scratches to hold the blocked Eur 300 even though i paid for the full insurance to remove any access. Plus the guy that took tge car from us is the most arrogant i ever met. He even start to shout and threatening me just because i was arguing that the car was most of the time parked. A rip off company. Stay mikes away. It never happened to me on the numerous car rentals i made.

We’ve hired a lot of cars around Europe and this experience has been the worse. First the directions for meeting point were not clear and we had to WhatsApp quite a few times before realise we had to stand in front of a small sign in the middle of the car park, then wait 20 minutes to be collected. At the office they opened only the window and left us standing outside in the midday heat until I asked why we couldn’t come inside, there was no answer they just opened the door and carried on talking in Italian. The car had loads of marks from hail damage and various scratches all over the car. I’m so pleased I took a video of the car when we collected it. When i returned the car the agent ‘Camilla’ had limited communication and no eye contact, she kept coming back and forth from the car into the office saying there were new marks on the car. My video proved that there was no extra damage. When I asked to confirm that the deposit will all go back on my card, she said it would have to wait until Monday to go through the admin team (we were on Friday midday) and it would take upto 20days to be refunded!!! Poor customer service, faulty car and 10mins from the airport with 20 minute wait for a transfer! DO NOT USE ECH CAR HIRE!!!!
