I have long enjoyed writing with a true fountain pen. I bought two Ellington pens to replace my lost Parker & Shaffer fountain pens. One of the pens worked perfectly, the other, not so much - hence on... See more

The pen exceeded my expectations. This was my 5th fountain pen and has easily become my favorite to write with. Great weight, very smooth, and so pretty!

Super quick well packaged delivery
The pen was boxed beautifully and protected well
You get everything you need to start your writing experience straight away
The pen felt perfect to hold. A really good closure on the lid so no drying out. The nib was exactly right to the size I ordered. The writing experience is superb

Edit - Despite promising to contact me in their reply below after I sent them my details, I haven’t received any communication from Ellington pens. I won’t be buying anything from them in future as they do not uphold their warranty.
Original review:
My first order arrived quickly but one refill had burst. I’ve contacted customer services twice (via email and via website) to ask for a replacement but haven’t had a response. Makes me wary to order any further items as they don’t seem to honour the warranty.

I bought my first Ellington Pen over two years ago and I have just bought my sixth pen. The pens are of excellent quality and are reasonably priced. I keep some at home and some at work, so i'm never without the use of a pen. I highly recommend this company.

I’m not normally given to spontaneous cheering but today that’s what I’m doing! My new Ellington pen is outstanding. I’ve struggled for years with posh pens letting me down and wondering whether it’s something to do with how I write. But no! You’ve shown me that a pen can be perfectly balanced for my hand, that the nib can glide over the paper.

They are a pleasure to work with , very kind and professional as for their pens in 79 years I have had many but none anywhere near as good as their pens , it writes so smooth and perfect a true work of art . Thank You Ellinton Pens Dennis

I purchased an Ellington Pens fountain pen directly from ellingtonpens.com on January 7th and received it on January 11th. Shipping was prompt, and I have no complaints in that regard.
Upon opening the box, I noticed discoloration on the nib. Later that evening, I submitted a website inquiry describing the issue and asking for guidance on safe methods of cleaning the nib without damaging the plating. My intention was to resolve the issue myself rather than return the pen for what appeared to be a minor plating defect. I understand that manufacturing defects can occur and was simply looking for advice.
After receiving no response, I sent a follow-up email on January 15th by replying to my order delivery confirmation, again explaining the issue and including a photo of the discolored nib.
After more than a week without a response, I reviewed Ellington Pens’ Trustpilot feedback and noticed a recurring pattern in their replies to negative reviews: they often state that they attempted to contact the customer and that their response may have gone to the customer’s spam folder.
To be absolutely clear, this is not the case here. Ellington Pens has successfully sent me multiple automated emails, I have checked my spam folder daily, and no response to either my website inquiry or follow-up email has been received.
I want to emphasize that posting a public review was not my first choice, nor something I enjoy doing. I attempted to resolve this matter privately through their normal support channels and received no response. At this point, I am no longer requesting cleaning advice or a replacement pen. I am simply requesting a return shipping label so I can return the pen for a refund.
I had high expectations, and the lack of communication — combined with the need to raise this issue publicly — has been extremely disappointing.
UPDATE 02/09/2026
Ellington Pens issued me a full refund, allowed me to keep the original pen, and also sent a replacement pen of my choosing. I want to give credit where credit is due — I am very happy with this final resolution.
My original concerns were related to quality control and support communication, which required more effort than expected to resolve. While I was forwarded date-stamped responses to my initial inquiries, those responses never actually reached me, suggesting there is room for improvement in Ellington Pens’ support or ticketing system.
If I decide to purchase another Ellington Pens product in the future and see improvements in quality control and customer support responsiveness, I would be happy to update this review again with a higher rating.
For now, I appreciate the resolution and look forward to using my defect-free pen.

I bought a pen from this company and received it within a few days. I immediately didn’t like it. It was nothing to do with the quality, simply personal preference. I have emailed them three times in the last 10 days to request return details and they have not replied. The one star is for the poor (non-existent) communication. I did give them some leeway due to purchasing over the Xmas period and factoring in staff holidays but now feel obliged to inform others of the unacceptable service.

Overall, I like the design and look of the pens. I can only give 3 stars because, one, I had a very hard time figuring out how to load the ink. It just wasn't very intuitive. Two, it's very hard to get the ink to flow smoothly. I am unsure if special paper is required for using the pens, but they do not glide smoothly across regular paper, and writing with them requires a significant amount of pressure. I feel like I'm about to bend the needle sometimes because of the amount of force I have to use.

I am a pen person! I love pens, I love handwriting and I am a calligrapher. I have thousands of pens & markers and have to say that these Ellington pens are as good as it gets. They feel great in the hand, have wonderful ink flow, are beautiful to the eye. To top it off, the customer service is exceptional, particularly Krystal, who has answered every question and helped above and beyond expectations. I couldn’t be happier!

I placed my order for three pens over one year ago. They never came. I emailed the company and never received a response. Very bad business management.

Beautiful pens at affordable prices. Balances wonderfully in the hand and writing is a pleasure.

I don't like the pen. I feels out of balance when I am writing. It is to thick for me. I don't like the slick finish.

It is a nice pen when it works but it is very frustrating as it seems to dry out at the drop of a hat. it sits beside my Faber Castell pen that never dries out. I am at the stage where I do not reach for it anymore. I just had to swap over to my FC pen this morning again. I have washed it out as instructed and use bottle ink - probably time to return?
UPDATE 7Jan : Ellington are now to replace the whole pen. Their customer service has been superb and i look forward to writing trouble free with a new pen.

I have two reasons for writing this review. 1. The first is to celebrate the excellence of my Ellington Pen (specifically, the Azure Clarity - Transparent Fountain Pen, Extra Fine). From the moment I began writing, it was exactly as Ellington claims. Smooth, reliable, super fine lines with no bleeding on the paper or my fingers! It's weight is well balanced, and the fell of it in the hand, is lovely. I have dragged this pen with me on long distances of travel, and it writes perfectly every time. The replacement ink cartridges are easy to exchange, and there is no mess. Kudos to Ellington for putting in the effort and engineering to create a fountain pen this is such a pleasure to work with. Not to mention, they have the best, most attentive and professional customer service! Love this pen, and love this company!
2. The second reason is to amend/eliminate a review I left a few weeks ago, which I erroneously wrote about an entirely different pen company (SimplPens). I had a gargantuan amount of trouble with the company. it's lack of attentiveness, its misleading delivery methods (buyers cannot track their purchases), and its lack of responsiveness to their customers. This review had NOTHING to do with ELLINGTON PENS; it was all focused on SIMPLPENS. I intended to place that review on the Simplpens website, but erroneously dropped it on the Ellington Pens website. This was my error entirely! UGH!
Lastly, go with Ellington every time!

The opposite of all their advertising is the reality. Heavy (why ? ) overpriced and very horrible to use. Scratchy nib, terrible ink flow .... everything you can imagine being wrong with a pen, these pens provide it.
The only positive was a full refund when I threatened to leave a bad review on Trustpilot ... and guess what ....people deserve to know the truth and that is, these pens are awful.
