Cataract and YAG surgery
I had cataracts in both eyes and my optician recommended Mr Quah as an excellent surgeon. She was right and the lens replacement process was completed by Mr Quah over 2 days.the process was well explained and Mr Quah has a friendly personable manner which makes you feel at ease.the result was better than expected and gave me 20/20 vision again after 60 years. Mr quah explained that I may need to have some further YAG laser treatment due to the lens capsule obscuring the lenses.this has just been carried out in a 60 second procedure and my vision is again 20/20. Many thanks to a real professional.
Professional and courteous treatment.
Professional and courteous treatment by all concerned.
I had absolute confidence in Mr Goel and would not hesitate in recommending him.
Fantastic clinic.
For the past few years I was having problem wifh my eye sight. I have been nearsighted majority of my life but recently a whitish fog started appearing and my vision was getting worse. I went to few well known optitians and my the answer was always same. "Tired eyes". My vision was getting worse. I decided to go to a private clinic and after a research I found Spire Eye Correcion Centre and I don't regreat it.
My 1st consultation was very thorough.
Dr Goel and Dr Maqsud were very friendly and professional. English is not my 1st language so I was very anxious but they were very patient with me and I felt very conftable.
I was diagnosed with cataract and offered a laser surgery. Within a month I had my 1st surgery and a week later 2nd.
The laser treatment took only about 20min. No pain, just slight discomfort but nothing major. I was given eyedrops to take while my eyes were healing. I was given thorough explanation of the aftercare and withing a week after treatment my eyes were healed. My vision is superb. For the 1st time in 50 years I dont have to wear glasses. I only have to wear them for reading now. I am very happy I have chosen this clinic and I would reccomend it to anyone.
Thank you so much to all the staff at the clininc and wish you all the best.

Positive experience
My consultation with Mr Hickley was very positive, everything about my procedure was explained thoroughly and I left feeling confident that I have made the right choice. Mr Hickley's nurse Lindsay was also very nice and made me feel very comfortable.
Mr Sid Goel and his lovley team
Consultant Mr Sid Goel is an exceptional ophthalmic surgeon who prioritises patient care. At my first appointment it was evident that Dr Goel listens and cares about his patients’ well-being and outcome, and that set him apart from the two previous consultants I had previously seen. Mr Goel ensured that all my questions, of which I had many! were answered and my expectations were well managed.
Mr Goel made it clear that not all surgery was suitable for all and counselled/ guided me towards the most suitable procedure. I had two procedures, cataract/ correction at Hessel Centre, the whole team were great throughout. I felt safe, well cared for and comfortable. Quick recovery and my sight fantastic.
I highly recommend Dr. Sid Goel and his team to anyone seeking an ophthalmic surgeon,

My vision is completely restored with absolutely no complications. Recovery was extremely easy just a few eye drops
I would recommend Mr Goel. An excellent experience from start to finish with very little disruption to daily life.
Great experience, fantastic end result.
Everything went very smoothly, no issues at all. Lots of thorough checks before any surgery and they’ll only do what’s totally safe for you. Not so fun having an op but the experience on the day wasn’t so bad and totally worth it for the end result.
Fantastic work from Dr Goel I’m always amazed by what doctors can do and now I can see all by myself, wonderful!
Mr Quah is the one to go to for cataracts
Mr Quah is a very pleasant and friendly man who radiates confidence. Unfortunately my referral email from my optician got lost in hyperspace and I heard nothing for about six weeks. I rang my optician on a Thursday and that same afternoon I has a call from Mr Quah's assistant explaining that they had not received the email and had asked for it to be re-sent. Meanwhile he took all my details then to save time. That was an impressive start
On Friday morning I received a call to say that the referral email had now been received , could I come in for a consultation? Yes, when? 3pm today. Even more impressive. It did help that he had a surgery nearby that day.
Altthough I live on Anglesey my daughters live near Wilmslow, so when I was offered the option of treatment there with a shorter delay I jumped at the chance. I needed both eyes doing so the plan was to do the right one on a Monday and the left one on the following Wednesday, It was a bit late to arrange things for the following Monday, at 4pm on a Friday, and the following Monday was a Bank holiday, so I had to wait 2 weeks. I had expected months.
I received details for two appointments at the hospital. The weekend before my appointment I developed a stye in my right eye. After consulting Mr Quah's secretary, I was advised to turn up for my appointment anyway so that the situation could be assessed. Nothing could be done then because of the danger of contamination, as I had anticipated.
I was send away with antibiotics and as the Monday 2 weeks later was a Bank Holiday, Mr Quah told me that he was prepared to perform bi-lateral surgery a fortnight on Wednesday provided that my infection had cleared. I received details for 2 new appointments from the hospital, one am and one pm to replace my original ones.
Turning up to check that I was infection free, conveniently in Bangor again, I confirmed that I had got the two appointments and was told to ignore the am one otherwise I would have a long wait!
My daughter and I arrived at The Wilmslow Hospital, a clean, attractive modern building, with free parking in designated bays, and having signed in and visited the drinks machine, went to the pharmacy window to receive my post-op medications and instructions on their application from an extremely pleasant young lady. We were then met by a nurse who took us up to my room in the ward.
A small team of young ladies checked me over filled in various forms and offered me coffee and particularly good carrot cake. I had small pellets popped into both eyes, which dropped out a couple of times and had to be popped back in. Everything that was going to happen was explained to me, not that I am a nervous patient anyway. Off with my shirt, on with a gown, meet the Theatre Sister, who had a great sense of humour and I took to immediately, and into the theatre.
I lay down and was covered up and all areas apart from my right eye were masked off. Anaesthetic was applied to the eye and given a little time to take effect. A bright light was turned and shone into my eye. I had been concerned how I was going to keep my eye still during the procedure, but the bright light had three spots in the centre of it that gave me something to focus on. I did not feel any sensation at all. The light then went away and a shield was put over my eye.
Everything was then sanitized or replaced to repeat the procedure with my left eye. This was much the same as with the right eye, but the cataract was not as bad here. I was aware of a buzzing sensation as well as a prodding feeling, that I assume was connected with breaking up and removing the old lens. It was not pain, nor even discomfort, just a sensation. As I thought that I knew what it was it did not bother me at all.The light went away and a pad and eye shield were applied to my left eye.
Back in my room with a pain level (1-10) of about 2, no, I don't need any paracetamol, I was asked the next important question: Would I like some cake? Work out the answer yourself. I was advised to leave the pad over my left eye until the following morning. Being a good boy I did what I was told and also left my right eye shield on.
The following morning I unwrapped my presents. The outside world was very bright. Pain level was below 1
and my distance vision was unbelievable. After a couple of days I could cope with normal daylight, but needed sunglasses in the sun.
Six days after the procedures Mr Quah checked my eyes and both are 6/7.5 so I am now find to drive without glasses.
Mr Quah made an immediate impression on me and inspired me with his manner. I was a little apprehensive about eye surgery but having met him thought that cataract removal was going to be as traumatic as a manicure. I was right.
Final bonus: A week later I received a call from the hospital to inform me that as the two procedures had been carried out together at one appointment, I was due a refund of over 700 pounds
Highly Recommend for Corrective Surgery
