Why Folksy beats the alternatives.
I've had my own website, but that requires a lot of time that could be spent more enjoyably making rather than promoting. I've also had an Etsy shop which used to be for handmade only but now allows foreign sellers particularly to sell mass produced items cheap but getaway with calling them handmade. Etsy also have a policy of with holding a lot of your money.
So far Folksy has worked for me, visitors to my 'shop' straight off, reasonable fees, very easy to use. If you want a platform to sell your handmade items, I thoroughly recommend Folksy.

Easy site to use and pricing is excellent. Love the site and the support network.
Loved the straight forward set up
Loved the way my Etsy items could be copied over to Folksy and I can continue to run the two platforms. Pictures and set out of shop are clear and well presented and communication by emails has been good - hence the 5*. I thought the monthly fees were reasonable too. On the downside it's taken 3 months to get my first and only sale on Folksy (whilst I have a steady flow of orders on Etsy from an established shop of approx 5 years). It doesn't appear that Folksy is a big enough name yet.... many I speak to have not heard of Folksy. If more sales come in then I will be overjoyed but its slow at the moment and it's the festive season and the majority of items I have listed so far have been for Halloween and Christmas events so a little disappointed to say the least with just one sale. Fingers crossed for a busier new year and perhaps I need to promote my Folksy shop more on social media.
Sellers review of a sale on Folksy
I received an email straight away re the sale. I offer a 7 day turn around however Folksy were unable to individualise this and suggested I send the purchase out within 3 working days.
Money appeared in my PayPal account straight away although Folksy fee is still yet to be billed. I felt communication was good. I was asked to complete this as a follow up to the sale.
The sale was through an acquaintance hence not via Folksy’s marketing.

Very easy to use and to create listings. Good shop management and editing. The only thing I wish Folksy had is the ability to research data for SEO to make it easier to find useful keywords.

Happy Customer
I love shopping on Folksy because they have a personal friendly attitude towards customers. They have so many talented makers on their site with interesting products. I haven't had any problems but I am confident that if I ever did it would be sorted out in the best possible way. I would recommend shopping on this site for a more personal shopping experience.

A Platform with Potential: My Experience with Folksy
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Folksy is a platform that holds immense potential for artisans and crafters looking to showcase and sell their handmade creations. However, my experience with Folksy has been a mixed bag, with both positive and challenging aspects. In this detailed and constructive review, I will share my thoughts and insights.
Traffic and Visibility (★★☆☆☆):
One of the most significant challenges I've encountered on Folksy is the lack of organic traffic to my shop. Unlike some other e-commerce platforms, Folksy does not provide a robust stream of potential customers. Sellers must be prepared to drive their own traffic and market their shops extensively through social media, email marketing, and other channels. This can be a time-consuming task, especially for those just starting.
Policies and Guidelines (★★★☆☆):
Understanding what is and is not allowed on Folksy can be somewhat confusing. While the platform provides guidelines, they are not always as clear and comprehensive as one might hope. As a seller, I found myself double-checking and occasionally even second-guessing whether my products met Folksy's standards. A more straightforward and user-friendly policy framework would greatly benefit both sellers and the platform itself.
Seller Features (★★★☆☆):
Folksy offers a set of basic features for sellers. While they are functional, they lack some of the more advanced tools and analytics that could help sellers manage their businesses more effectively. The dashboard and shop management tools are user-friendly, but there is room for improvement in terms of data insights and customization options. It would be great to see Folksy invest in expanding and enhancing these seller features.
Customer Service (★★★★☆):
One shining aspect of my Folksy experience has been the quality of their customer service. Whenever I had questions or encountered issues, their support team was quick to respond and provided helpful assistance. Their willingness to engage and address concerns is a significant asset to the platform and its community of sellers.
In conclusion, Folksy is a platform with great potential for artisans and crafters, but it comes with its own set of challenges. The lack of organic traffic and the need for self-promotion can be daunting for newcomers. Clarity in policies and the enhancement of seller features are areas where Folksy could make meaningful improvements. However, the platform's excellent customer service does alleviate some of these frustrations.
Overall, my experience with Folksy has been decent. With some refinements and updates, it could become an even more attractive option for creative entrepreneurs seeking an online marketplace for their handmade goods.
I love Folksy
I’m absolutely loving Folksy at the moment, it’s so easy to use wether your a seller or a buyer, everything is so quick and straightforward.
Perfect for creatives
I recently swapped selling platforms to Folksy and am so glad I did! Their customer service made the whole crossover really easy and they were so helpful. The whole ethos behind Folksy is so much more creatively driven which makes it the perfect platform for me!
