Food Pawleys Island a disgrace!

theirs two Food Lion Stores One is across Lichfield beach 29585 , other the east side HWY 17 Pawleys island. After 20+ yrs. living in area and as a Handicapped US Vietnam era Veteran, Heree's what occurred 2 days back Pawley's island store. When I went in store and typically go first t0 fruit and vegetable section, there @ almost 9:30 AM there are full carts in aisle not put up with veggies and fruit full just about blocking in-between here the employee on his phone gabbing away in no hurry to put up anything he was by the apple section and only when he saw me did move cart but kept talking. manger#7 in store. ALL OF TIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT UP BY 8AM opens at 7AM. Ther's no excuse, excuse the manager should get to work and put up herself! this store is a disgrace that employee should be fired and the manager next or reviewed for dismissal. only go to this store if its and emergency. Ther is a new Aldi a Publix and another mainstream grocery superstore in immediate area, besides these two food lions. Guess what that competition is eating their lunch! Who needs this store. Not me no vets here!. and if your smart not you.

Rude employee at the self checkout

The self-checkout experience at the New Walkertown store is terrible. As I was ready to check out, I noticed that there was an available register, so I walked toward it. Then a Food Lion employee told me that I had made a violation because the line started at the shopping aisle more than 10 feet away. I couldn't see that there was a line at all. I took my items to a regular register to be checked out. This experience defeated the idea of the self checkout. It wasn't like any other Food Lion I had shopped at. Walmart was even nicer. I won't be back to shop at the New Walkertown store.

HOSTILE WORK PLACE

I have recently been experiencing hostile verbal abuse that seems to soon become assaults. 2 individuals i know are the reason/cause of such intentional targeting. One individual being Tony Hill and the second individual to be soon named. Tony Hill is a black male around 40 to 50 yrs old. 5ft 5ins. Guessing. This is a very serious matter because Tony is constantly promoting just about anyone that comes threw the doors to act out within the store causing more and more people to become involved which soon will be totally out of control. If something is not done about Tony then news channels and other organizations will soon be contacted about his actions with the store at 251 Faith Rd Salisbury nc.

Disappointed & Frustrated

So as most customers here I normally love shopping at Food Lion. But here lately it's easier shopping at Walmart, which seems to be the case for many across NC. I placed an online order today. First before I get into the actual issue I had here are some other issues I ran into: (1) Buy 1 get 1 items only applied if they were 2 of the EXACT same item. Not 2 items in the same brand. Which is insane. Cause if I can get it with 2 different items of same brand in stores I should be able to online. So I end up spending more because of that. (2) Trying to choose substitutes has changed. You can no longer search and choose the item you want. You are given a list of 5 items that Food Lion considered similar(usually not even close to being similar) and if you don't choose one of those then you have to choose best comparable and put in notes what you want. But then shopper completely ignores the notes and refuses to give you the items you asked for. (3) You can no longer send messages or chat with shopper. They can't reach out to you about item related questions or substitute concerns and you can't contact them. (4) Shopper does whatever they want and gets away with it. They don't read notes I spend hours putting in for each item giving valid substitutes that I deem decent substitutes, instructions on what I want, ect. And if you deny the substitute, there isn't an option to choose a different item for them to get for you instead. So then you have to turn around and either reorder or go somewhere else to get the items that the shopper ignorantly grabs random items they choose to. (5) My actual issue is that I called today while shopper was shopping because half items I ordered was marked "missing" when I ordered a substitute and they didn't get the sub or a recommended item. They just point blank skipped it. So the person gave me free delivery and a coupon to shop again to get the items the shopper messed up. So then the items arrive and half the stuff is missing or wrong. Like I ordered 6 of the SAME Starbucks frappuccino coffees in COFFEE flavor and they send 3 coffee flavors and 3 caramel. Why would you do that when they order says 6 of the same. If they aren't all available, then mark that so and get substitute for the others. But that didn't happen. So I called again and was given a refund. So then I get the finalized receipt and not only did they recharge me for the delivery service they blatantly ignored the fact that it was previously refunded to me. Or they just didn't care and recharged me anyway. Either way I'm angry. Ordering online sucks now. They made it harder to order online and get the items and substitutes that I really want. Customer service either lies or just goes back over what one customer service agent says and do whatever they want instead. I'm just going to go back to ordering on Walmart.com or their app because it's by far the best app so far since Food Lion decided to make everything that much harder for customers to order. It seems like Food Lion has gone down the toilet and is loosing so many of their customers because of horrible customer service, horrible employees, bad online and pick up services. Y'all need to get y'all's sh¡T together because y'all are loosing way too many of your customers because of crap that should be easy, a given or a simple minor standard.

Food Lion in Clinton SC…

I went to the Food Lion in Clinton SC Sunday morning 8 Feb, as I was pushing a cart in the interior doors the anti theft wheels locked up, almost making me fall over the cart, I did get a abrasion on my right foot from it impacting the cart, I brought this to the store managers attention showing him the abrasion, he said it’s a new system and he needed to look at the settings, needless to say as I exited the store he was still sitting at a computer, Beware this is the 3rd time this has happened to me,

Worst Food Lion ever

Worst Food Lion ever. Did pickup order for the snowstorm they never shopped. I showed up to ask why they apologized and said theyd shop it tomorrow and will call me but it will be ready at 8:30am. Never received a call so i called and spoke with Kelley who said they cancelled my order without my consent. Called customer care who said the order was never cancelled. They tried calling the store and no one would answer. Called store ten more times to speak to Tracey who first lied and said it was cancelled then told me i needed to call customer care back to cancel my order because theyre too busy shopping other orders and they cant do mine anymore. I asked for district managers number and they said they didnt have it. Still have received a refund and was on hold with customer care initially for an hour and 30minutes. Time i dont have because i have a job. Very unprofessionally. Workers need to be fired

Racist Employee

I go in this store (Reed Street, Leland NC)two to three times a week.  This morning January 7, 2026 between 9:00am-10:00am I went to the deli to place a order,  I stood in front of the deli counter, Sarah looked at me stop what ever she was doing started walking towards the counter passed me and went behind me then started putting bread on the shelves. I stood there 7 more minutes until the young lady from bakery came to serve me.. In the last 6 to 7 months I have reported her to three managers, two stores managers and the deli manager.  I let 2 of the managers know that she is starting to race discriminate against me ( I am a black woman)Once I spoke with the managers you would think customer service would get better.  It only became worse with me getting anything from the deli if Sarah is in deli.  They will wait until she walks away, then they will serve me or I just do the same. So I decided to call corporate since this is a going problem with EMPLOYEES BEING RACIST. It has been 4 days and still no call or email back yet.

Train Your Staff

For the most part I like this store (Eastern Shore of Virginia locations). However, the online shopping experience needs a lot of work. Mostly I think they need to train their picker staff and 3rd party delivery servers better.
There is always a problem - the picking staff does not seem to understand anything about how you pick quality produce. This is a teachable skill - train your staff. Also, if an item is a buy 1 get 1 or buy 2 get 1 free the staff should be aware of these specials and make sure those items are included in the online order. Both these problems originate in the store with Food Lion staff - again train your staff.
3rd party delivery - In the ordering process there is a comment section on delivery instructions - Please train your staff to read and follow these instructions!

stay away, dangerous, and they don't care

I frequent this store 6 or 7 times a week (Verdae Blvd, Greenville, SC). Two nights ago, a man, about 6'5 and close to 300 lbs said i was in his way and then smacked me across the face, and my glasses flew off...he was yelling curses at me. I told the night manager who saw him (said he'd been a bit of a problem other times) and asked him to leave. He called her a f**kin b**ch and said he'd leave when he wanted to. It ended up the guy finally left, but Food Lion did NOTHING proactive for me. I had to call the police to make a report, which is fine. The police came over to my home and took the report and then went to Food Lion to try to get the video. So I asked Food Lion about it (you'd think they would've gotten in contact with me or done something first), and i approached the same night manager. She asked me what was up lol..so i asked her about the video and police and she acted very casually about it and said Food Lion would release the footage to the police when they got permission from their Prevention and Loss. I asked if she knew how long that might be. She said no. I asked if they knew his name. She said no, so I said what if he paid by credit card? Couldn't FL find it out then? She shrugged that off. I mean, the police were very polite and remorseful for me, but Food Lion?? Forget it!! Pathetic. If there were another store to shop at I would. Also they don't have price on many of their things, and they basically don't care. Don't go there if you don't have to

Wouldn't honor a perfectly valid gift card on 12/28/25

North East, MD store (21901)Received a $100.00 FL gift certificate as a Christmas present from my brother. I used $41.00 on 12/26. Attempted to use it for a $36.00 purchase on 12/28 and was told "we can't accept it because it's been printed." When I told them it was used on 12/26, the manager said, "IF it was used (implying I was lying), then it shouldn't have been." It WAS used and was perfectly valid. The instructions on the gift card said to PRINT it out to use it. When I pointed that fact out to the so-called "manager" (older man, short, gray beard) he just gave me a blank stare and said, "Sorry, but I still can't help." Food Lion, you have cheated me out of $58.00 that we needed for groceries! I have been a loyal customer of this store since it opened in 1998 but no more! Was it worth it, Food Lion, to lose an account worth thousands each year because you didn't want to honor a perfectly valid gift certificate??? I will be filing a formal BBB complaint against this store. Also, heavyset female clerk with black hair (appeared to in her 30s or 40s) was VERY rude. When I attempted to tell her that the instructions on certificate specifically said to PRINT out the certificate, she snapped, "I don't have time for this!" and promptly turned her back on me. I don't have time for you anymore, Food Lion. It was a humiliating experience. I was treated worse today at Food Lion than I've ever been treated at Walmart.

If you bring your own bags they won’t bag for you.

I brought my own reusable bags to the Food Lion in Berlin, Maryland. The cashier rang up my groceries and pushed my items and my bags to the end of the bagging area, handed me my receipt and walked away from the register to stand at the entrance of the store. I turned to another cashier whom I think was the on-duty manager and asked if cashiers do not have to bag in reusable bags and her response was “ no they don’t. You can ask them to.” My response was that should be posted at the registers. If cashiers don’t bag in reusable bags, why does Food Lion sell them? This particular store doesn’t have any self-checkout registers. This store is in a town and county where recycling is mandatory. There are recycling bins outside the door of the store.

Shop Elsewhere!

When I asked the manager how to request products, she told me to get online. So I did. A few weeks later I receive a call from her boss saying how much they appreciate their customers and that she would look into getting the products back on the shelves, lite soups that were removed, fat free products they once carried, lite version of salad dressing they already carry. I was told she would make a follow up call to let me know if there was a problem getting the products back. Ha! Never heard from her again. And none of the products have been restocked. Obviously, from reading all the other reviews, they don't give a damn about their customers. I'm shopping elsewhere from here on so I can get the products I have to have without going to two different stores.

Cashier held three boxes of frozen food…

Cashier held three boxes of frozen food in their hand, scanned it five times, then subtracted three, and added back two; that makes getting charged for 4!! Took several minutes to get that sorted out.
Aisles are full of and sometimes blocked with freight, empty pallets, shopping carts of empty cardboard, it's a real obstacle course to shop and a LIABILITY for customers to trip over -I cannot believer they don't care about that one with the high number of elderly customers. Several trips have seen aisles almost completely blocked, only the brave would venture down those.
Stocker was actually vaping! Same one on two different visits!! Have given them several attempts to improve, but the place is sinking , slowly, but it is definitely sinking and they don't seem to care.

Where customer service just doesn't care. The "Ghetto" location.

I went to Food Lion on 12/10/25 @12:51PM. 907 S. Chapel St. Newark, DE. They had 2 lines open. I had to wait 15 minutes in line, for 4 items, Meanwhile, there's 4 or 5 employee's just hanging out and talking in the customer service area. There was another guy behind me that had 2 items. The cashier from the 2nd open lane came over and got the guy behind me becasue he knew him.
This is typical for this location. I call it the "ghetto" food lion. It's alway's filthy and they don't have an express, or self check out for that matter. This is definitly the last time I run in here to pick something up. I don't have the 45 minutes to an hour to pick up a couple of items. My cashier was very nice. But they are usually not at this location. My other experience with them, they were rude.
