AVOID

I'm very happy I read all these poor reviews.ive been with DJ for 10 years and my insurance was already mire than a competitor.i then.told them about a non fault accident which has been sorted, the woman I spoke to said it has gone up over £300 because of the accident. I said I will be going g elsewhere and you should too because no one will be getting insured with them at these prices

Had a classic car insurance with this…

Had a classic car insurance with this crowd, 2002 Porsche Boxter S limited 5000 miles. Their renewal premium for the coming year, a 350% increase!!!
Note their own website reviews give them 5/5 rating, a joke, as with all other independent reviews they barely achieve 2/5.
Insured the Boxter elsewhere at a fraction of their renewal figure.
Honest advice if your with them, change, if your looking to insure look elsewhere.

What a joke!

Ive been insured by Footman James for the past 7 years. They recently wrote to me and said they were unable to insure me for the coming year. No explanation, so I phoned them. The reason appears to be that their underwriters, Ageas, will now only insure a 'classic' car (in this case a 2002 Mazda MX5) if its used on an
occasional basis. With this cancellation I have also lost 40 years of no claims as, according to their letter, ''No claim bonus is NOT applicable with this policy.'' The company slogan is, ''We share your Passion.'' What a joke!

Buyer beware—Footman James’s refund policy is not transparent or fair.

I recently cancelled my policy midterm with Footman James, only to discover they refused any form of refund, referencing their general terms and conditions. I believe that their policy of not providing any refund during the first year (ive held seveal policies with them) is not only unfair but a breach of the Consumer Rights Act, as it should be an express term rather than hidden in the fine print.

As a returning customer over many years, I expected a reasonable outcome, but they held firm on this policy, refusing to offer a refund I believe was substantial and due. Buyer beware—Footman James’s refund policy is not transparent or fair.

Policy Cancellation

I sold my car and although I was only 7 months into my policy, FJ informed me that I would not be entitled to any of my money back, as I had been with them less than a year. They don’t make you aware of this fact.

Bought my First Insurance with Them Nov…

Bought my First Insurance with Them Nov 2023 for a 2003 3ltr XJ6 Jag Footman James agreed to Insure as a Classic car £353 for the Insurance great price then in May sold Jag and transferred Insurance to a BMW 645 CI V8 Convertible for a reasonable uplift costs of £100 so all in all i was expecting my renewal knowing that Insurances are on the decline to be around the £500 mark to my astonishment when i received my renewal it was a eye watering £1231 WOW when i contacted them to ask why they stated that Insurances were going up (NOT TRUE) and i was lucky if my car insurances were going lower , when i disagreed she then stated that the underwriters had now changed their T&C s and my car now fell out of the category for lower Insurance , very strange , i politely told them i will not be renewing either this year or ever again, i feel this Company blatantly gives you a low first year price and then massively ramps up the renewal price , so my advice see if they give you a low first year and then go elsewhere

Dropped by Footman James

Dropped by Footman James. No reason given, other than generic BS.

I'll be contacting my classic car club to ask that our relationship with Footman James be reviewed and hopefully terminated.

I've been driving for almost 40 years and have never claimed on any insurance.

I have been a customer for many years

I have been a customer for many years. My experience as follows:

- very expensive, in my case a like for like FJ insurance policy is 3 x times more expensive than the market average.

- FJ only offer policies via Ageas and simply act as a broker. Good look with trying to make any sort of claim with Ageas. As a single broker of Ageas there is no chance of competition in respect of price, service or value.

- Non fault accident caused an substantial increase in renewal, unfair and Ageas unwilling to consider costs incurred due a non fault accident should be included in any reasonable settlement. FJ unhelpful.

- FJ/Ageas conflict of interest in respect of settling claims, they will screw you over leaving you out of pocket.

- No customer service or assistance, so no value in paying their hiked premiums.

- Don't be fooled by the high number of Feefo reviews, they are invite only from FJ. Trustpilot offers a far clearer picture of FJ.

Do yourself a favour and buy insurance via a reliable broker or provider. Gocompare is a good place to start if you want a decent service at a decent price without the hassle.

Plenty of choice available with companies who are happy to have your business. A few minutes looking elsewhere is time very well spent and you have the reassurance if you need to rely on your insurance then you're in safe hands.

I've been a loyal customer of 10 years…

I've been a loyal customer of 10 years or so, until the latest renewal.
They claim to have changed underwriters, so I can no longer park on the road outside my house and have to own a second car, as this can't be my main vehicle.
I now have to pay 4 times as much for a new policy with 0 years no claims bonus.
The car will now be broken for spares, as it's worth more, so that's another classic off the road, the complete opposite of the company's ethos.

ONE OF THE BIGGEST SCAM IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY

First and foremost, this 'company'/'insurer' DOES NOT OFFER any kind of No Claims Bonus. This should be a red flag for anyone thinking they may get a good deal. IT IS NOT THE CASE, trust me on this matter.
A NON-FAULT accident claim will quadruple your premium, be aware!
In an unfortunate event, they will pass you round to a string of companies you have never dealt with, never signed up with, never knew that they existed. The said companies will do nothing to assist/help you. They will just collect and collate your data and you'll be punished with a hefty increase in your premium!! PLEASE REMEMBER: IT WAS A NON-FAULT ACCIDENT.
Dare to contradict me, Footman James!!!

Very Poor Service

I was involved in a non fault car crash. (My unattended car was hit whilst parked, video evidence available.)

Footman James ‘Non fault team’ told me they weren’t going to bother with the claim.

I later found out that Footman James had just transferred me to an accident management company.

I claimed directly with the ‘At fault’ insurer.
Footman James were no use at all.

When I later bought a new car, Footman James told me they could not insure my new car, but also wanted to keep all the money for the full years insurance cover.

I'm a bit confused by this company

I'm a bit confused by this company. I initially got a very good quote for my Classic car. Then learned that that they would cover modern cars so went for a multiyear flex account. The modern car was a bit expensive but the classic was really cheap. I then noticed some clauses which I was concerned about, checked with them and was not happy to proceed with the multi quote. I then asked for just a quote again for the classic car. It was nearly 4 times the original quote. Taking the P.

Brilliant insurance company, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Brilliant insurance company. I'm absolutely gobsmacked at the poor reviews. I've been with them on my classics for many years and they've been great. The customer support has always been personable and friendly. Based in the UK, in the Black Country. They treat me well as a loyal customer, even adding a vehicle for a period that they wouldn't normally cover. They've not quibbled at very large vehicles or engine size nor been a pain at any time. I've recommended them to everyone over the years and never heard a bad word until coming here, I'm quite shocked. I suppose most people come to these places when there's a problem rather than to compliment though. I'd say their service is far from poor. Never had to claim so can't judge that side of things but with many, many years of renewals, I've never even had to get a more competitive quote at renewal because they're fair.

Terrible online system

Have been a customer for many years, have to say their renewal system and online portal is rubbish. Spent ages trying to work out how to pay online, which their screen says you can do. Eventually called them and they confirmed you cant pay online. Clearly they are happy to waste their customers time.
