As with other comments, most information is generic, and I didn't find anything new about 4 family members in all 3 services from WW1,WW2, and the 1940/50s. Indeed 1 member who served 10yrs in the Roy... See more

I have been contacted frequently with suggestions that my ancestors may have been found. I am grateful for the attention received however and sadly there has never been a successful update.
Thank you for your efforts.

Dodgy trial period, don't be fooled
I took up the option for a month's trial and found it was a pointless exercise as it had little or no information on WW2 as this information is still covered by official secrets act. I wasn't aware of it until later but found that rather than a trial I was being hit with continuous payment scheme, which I had not signed up. I had my bank cancel this as trying to communicate with this entity is rather difficult. I have emailed them to enquire about this and have received no reply. Suffice to say it unfortunately comes across as nothing short of a scam but happy to be corrected.

I paid my subscription for full membership today for instant access to records and I am not allowed access. When I log on it continues to request I become a fully paid member. I have tried to contact customer help/talk to us and no reply. I tried to contact via email - no reply!
Not impressed!

Just find searching not user friendly
**Update**
Forces War Records customer care have resolved the issues I had with searching their records and explained the reason for missing records (Closed records with MOD)
My thanks to them for their help. Happy to update rating.
Just find searching not user friendly, having a frustrating time getting information. Also thought there would be more information on individuals other than name/number/rank/what force. Was expecting things like enlistment documents/ service records etc. Not been given any information that I already had.

Appreciative customer
Sometime ago, I hired a researcher to research my ancestor. I was very impressed with the amount of valuable information the researcher was able to locate for me at a reasonable price.

I have now tried about ten times to obtain details of my father, but so far nothing has been given to me.
The repetitive cost of this service, with no benefit is quite honestly deplorable coming from such an organisation as yourselves.
PLEASE, PLEASE obtain the required details of my father's military life.
As a reminder, My father, Major Charles IRWIN, served all his life with the British Army, some with the Territorials. His number was 5047 chiefly with the North Staffs. Regiment. much of his service was in the North West Frontier of India in the 1920s and from 'D' day plus 7 days across France and Germany.

Very useful resource when combined with my family tree on Ancestry. I have found many WW1 army/navy veterans on my tree and this is an excellent site for scrutinising further military records. Highly recommended.

Their website should be much clearer…
Their website should be far clearer that clicking on the option to not auto renew (you then have to input a reason why), does not actually change the setting at all. It should be much clearer that you have to scroll further down the screen to a link that actually does that, otherwise they will continue to take monthly payments from your bank account.
Personally I found that for almost everyone I searched for there was no scanned documents available and very little transcribed information (and for several people it just told me that the collection they were in was part of a ‘work in progress’ and gave me no further information). I hoped this site would provide further information to supplement what I’d already found via Ancestry, but was left hugely disappointed. Personally I felt that the site wasn’t worth signing up for from my own experience.

You keep sending me the wrong people. I have my Father's A.S.C. M2-034550 number. Just interested in
which battles he supplied driving a munitions truck or
where he was quartered with families in France and Belgium. I paid a researcher but didn't get this type of
information. I also have painting done by an artist travelling with troops from Leicester by the name of
W.Cecil Dunsford who painted "The Cloth Hall" in Ypres which was ruined. Also another watercolour of
"Suicide Corner". Sincerely, Marie S. Langford (nee Burton)

So easy to use
I love the simple search engine on this site, but also the enhanced detail of campaign location maps etc. The subscriptions are extremely good value for money.

Excellent Resource
This is an easy to use resource which has access to a large selection of records which are not easily available on other ancestry sites. I especially liked the histories of the appropriate regiment/unit which helps to place my ancestor in the field of war. Recommended for series detailed research of military ancestors.

Lest we Forget
I have been using Forces War Records for a few years now and is often the key to being able to further my research for not just personal family research but also for a friend that cleans and restores lost and forgotten military graves and with FWR i am able to give identities back to our fallen heroes

lack of Detail
It would be good if there were more details on records. I found it hard to tell if I had found the correct record or not
