One solo developer's dream service

I’ve been using ForwardEmail.net for years to reliably forward emails sent to my website’s domain to my personal Gmail inbox—and it has worked flawlessly. I recently set up their SMTP service to send emails directly from my website server, and it passed all DMARC, SPF, and DKIM checks with no issues. For a small-scale operation or a solo developer who only needs to send occasional verification emails, I genuinely believe there’s no better solution out there. ForwardEmail.net is simple, secure, and does exactly what it promises.

A Truly Excellent Email Service Provider

I've used Forward Email for 2 years now and I've had a completely pleasant experience. Their support is top notch (I've had zero problems with their service, it was just my queries about using their API).

And considering their paid plan allows unlimited domains they are extremely affordable.

No ifs, no buts, I would honestly recommend this service in an instant.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe this service. One of the reviewers had an issue with upgrade fees, but I haven't had any problems at all. In my experience, the upgraded service options are worth every penny, and I've never felt nickel-and-dimed or oversold. Keep up the good work!

Extensive guides for every step

I was not familiar with the service until I stumbled upon a recommendation on a forum for an issue I was having, a bit of poking about and searching they have an enormous amount of guides and systems set up to walk you through every step of the process, significantly better value for money and guides than my domain provider offered at the same price per month. So far happy to have taken the jump to get my own mailbox working rather than just a mail forwarder. I can finally send as without it going into everyone's junk mail.

Excellent service

I have used Forward Email for a few years for my personal domain, and most recently the domain for a non-profit. My experience has been thoroughly positive. The website provides excellent examples for everything I have wanted to do, and communication with the team has been responsive and productive. Highly recommended for something which "just works".

So far so good!

I’ve had a great experience with my last email provider for over 20 years, but I’m leaving due to cost. As I’ve acquired more personal domains, the cost per domain has become prohibitive. I need a more affordable email provider for my domains. Additionally, I’m switching from self hosted servers for my other domains due to changes made to my previous solution.

I discovered forwardemail.net, an open-source email service focused on security and privacy. Security and privacy are crucial to me, and I value owning my data. While I enjoyed hosting my own email service, it’s convenient to have someone manage it daily. After a week of use, everything has been as expected. Setting up and using the service was straightforward, and email support for expanding storage was prompt and efficient.

I struggled to add more storage to my account. The website’s instructions were unclear, so I searched old chats on Element. The process was simple. However, the “Upgrade Storage” button in the notification email takes me to the billing page with no information. This needs to be resolved to make it clear how to purchase additional storage.

I hope this is the start of a long and successful business relationship. I’ll update this review as needed.

fraudulently force to paid plan

After registration, ForwardEmail fraudulently forces users to upgrade to a paid plan by claiming:
"Warning: Your domain is new and may be associated with malicious activity. It is temporarily blocked for abuse prevention. Please upgrade to a paid plan.

This feels like a deceptive tactic to extort money, as new domains commonly require email forwarding.

Update after the 'Forward Email' answer:
It’s pathetic. I set up forwarding on Cloudflare after your refusal without any issues. They didn’t see any fake abuse or fake suspicious activity. And they are a significantly more well-known and reliable service.

Your domain was detected via WHOIS/RDAP lookup to have expired or been created within the past 90 days. As part of our efforts working with major registrars including GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Hostgator - we unfortunately have to enforce strict abuse prevention controls to block suspicious activity. Without this abuse prevention, our service would be blocked entirely from these registrars and we would lose significant business. GoDaddy previously blocked us because we did not take action. We require you to upgrade to a paid plan for recently expired or newly registered domains. Paid plans start at only $3/mo for unlimited domains and aliases.

I used this service for 1-2 weeks…

I used this service for 1-2 weeks without issues on a paid plan to forwards emails and it worked just fine.

I got more domains to diversify the portfolio and a few hours later got banned - when talking to the support they said I had spammy domains, which on a side I can understand - but..if only the TLD is an indicative and you can ban clients because of it..then what is the point of the whole site? I used several "review your domain" websites and found zero issues with it. 0 Fraud or Spam with any of the domains provided.

And still banned. I asked support if there is even something one can do to fix this and I have been left unanswered. Clearly the product is amazing but the logic behind anti-fraud is so flawed.

Later they added all domains to a perma-ban list. Despite ZERO spam or fraud.

Guys take it with a grain of salt. I will gladly come back as client if you tell me what is in line with your policies. Nothing of what I have done was against the ToS.

Edit: These guys are completely delusional. A friend purchased for me the first time for a trial, second and third time I purchased myself. If this is the proof this is fraudulent you are completely braindead.

Is Gmail a "disposable" email? XDDD Come on big guy, tell us what these disposable email providers were. And the name on the cards is my name, one shorted out and 2 fully written XDDDDDDD

You failed to mention that the first account had only 1 card (origin Portugal) and your "smart" "anti-fraud" system (Stripe) connects directly to the IP location (in this case Germany) and since the fraud calculation was low (from Stripe) the payment went through without issues.

The other "emails" and "cards" you speak about were after you banned my first account and did not bother to explain why. For anyone reading this review - notice how they told me that the ban was due to having cheap domains but on here they do not refute that. They simply defame me and claim I am a scammer.

I could name myself "Mr. FkForwardEmail" and still be more honest than your bunch that tries to manipulate public reviews so that everyone who writes something bad about the service is a liar, scammer or fraudster.

Imagine this being your "proof of scam/fraud" for a 3 dollar service.

Man you guys are EMBARASSING - Still could not point out anything done against the ToS. Just the typical lies that everyone condemned in the past reviews. They ban people without providing actual proof or reasoning. They just feel like it and think having a good product means being better than others. Without clients you would be nothing. Deserved 1 star.

This user "Joseph S." is a fake and fraudulent scammer. They used three different credit cards and disposable email addresses across two different countries (Germany and Portugal) to try to circumvent our abuse prevention. Additionally they used 3+ fake names on these payment cards. This is clearly proof that our abuse prevention team is doing its job. This is a fraudulent bad actor and clearly is using fake information and possibly stolen payment information (which we've refunded).

Simple, Developer-Friendly, and Affordable

I needed a service with unlimited forwarding aliases (hundreds), few mailing lists, a REST API for integration, and a fair price - since it's for a civic association. ForwardEmail delivers all of that and seems to work fine.

There was a default limit of 10 recipients per mailing list, but the support team increased it within a day of my request.

Setup was easy, though the user experience could be improved a bit. A Java SDK and separate API keys per domain would be welcome additions.

Excellent product. The email forwarding service on the free tier is already much more reliable than Cloudflare's email forwarding set up.

Pretty good

Pros: The service is fast, fairly priced, and reliable. Documentation is decent.
Cons: Some features are lacking: I wish regex rules for aliases worked more similarly to simplelogin, where aliases are auto-created from a rule and managed independently. I wish there were more robust authentication methods available for IMAP and SMTP besides just normal password.

Revisionist response after threats and intimidation

I've been documenting my experience with Forward Email across multiple reviews. Their latest public response perfectly demonstrates my concerns about their business practices.

After my domain expired, they controlled email routing for my former business domain. When I posted about my experience, they:

1. Called me "delusional" and "out of touch with reality" in public responses
2. Sent a formal cease and desist letter to my home address
3. Threatened that I would "be facing a costly expense" and their "legal team is standing by"
4. Banned my account without explanation when I sought help

After their threats failed, they suddenly emailed offering to "set up a call" and "help you get your domain back." I responded with specific questions about what assistance they could actually provide, but they never replied. My emails remain blocked, and the core issue was never resolved.

Now, they've completely revised this history. In their latest response, they claim they "tried to address your original concern multiple times" and were simply "trying to help guide you" - a stark contrast to their documented threatening behavior.

They misrepresent Trustpilot's decision (my review was reinstated after they determined it wasn't defamatory) and frame their cease and desist letter as a reasonable response rather than the intimidation tactic it was.

This pattern is concerning: aggressive intimidation when criticized, an empty offer of help that they never follow through on, followed by a sanitized public version of events that contradicts their documented actions.

While they now confirm they'll maintain the block on the email they identified as suspicious, they never address why they threatened to remove this same block if I didn't delete my review.

Companies that respond to criticism with threats, then ghost you after offering help, then attempt to rewrite that history, raise serious questions about their business ethics.

We apologize you are having an issue with your expired domain name.

ICANN and Tucows are the parties you would need to contact to get your domain back and control email routing.

Rest assured that the email address "ohzeah.tienve@hotmail.com" is still blocked in our system, and no emails can flow through to the person (apparently with this Hotmail address) that took control of your expired domain name at this time. We do not plan to remove this block as part of our automated abuse and fraud prevention measures (which detected and blocked this in the first place, which most likely prevented emails from reaching that undesired recipient).

We truly apologize for your current issue and this confusing DNS/email/domain situation, and suggest you contact ICANN and Tucows. Hopefully you get your domain back and we wish you the best of luck!

The helpdesk is 10 out of 10 !!!

I wouldn't call myself a "normal" customer. In fact, I'm not even a customer, however, I did have to ask for help from Forward Email's support team, because someone had hacked my domain registrar (and domain name) and had changed the Name Servers to Forward Email, which meant I was totally locked out of my e-mail and website.

The helpdesk/support team were AMAZING. Within a few short minutes, they had shut down the hacker's account and disabled all services..... so at least things were going to get worse, while my registrar sorted their shit out.

So, to sum-up, the support team are "10 out of 10".

ForwardEmail is awesome

ForwardEmail is awesome. I have employees who only need to receive email. I use ForwardEmail to provide them company-domain email addresses that forward to their personal accounts, saving them the headache (and me the expense) of a separate email box. The interface is slick, the system is blazing fast, the API is pretty intuitive, and the team is super responsive. Also, there are tons of advanced features. And, it's an incredible bargain!

A great service

This is a great service, and I've relied on it for many years for a number of email services. The developer is active in the support community, and is great at keeping the service clean from the inevitable people who seek to misuse it. I happily pipe all my email through this tool, and so should you.

We had 2 (team) accounts and they shut…

We had 2 (team) accounts and they shut us down with 2 weeks notice (their email promised 4 weeks but they did not adhere to that) because they claimed we violated their terms of service because we use the mailboxes to serve customers (duh).

This is just a dumb-ass excuse to kick out people who actively use their service with a couple of hundred IMAP inboxes.

We did not use their service to send any emails, only receive them.

The inboxes are part of our product, we own all of them, we own all the domains, and control all of them.

Anyway, we're happy to go elsewhere because their support is horrendous, arrogant and they just completely ignore you when you send ticket with the many technical issues we faced implementing their API.

Totally unreliable. Do not use this service for anything that is business-related.

There is a very clear disclaimer in our ToS that you cannot use our service in a way that benefits third parties other than your own employees and contractors. Since we are completely open-source this is a deterrent for competitors to launch a service using our source code base.

You failed to respond to our written request for more information and are upset because our product is amazing.

Best thing since sliced bread!
Fabulous service that "just works" taking all the pain out of managing an email service for multiple domains. No need for postgrey, spam assassins, virus checkers or any of the multitude of email support services usually required. Even offers SMTP support too.
Customer support is very rarely needed if you read the FAQ thoroughly but can be a bit slow when you do need it
